johjo
After playing around with the demo since the release I feel it's time for some reflections. Due to the fact that it's dark, boring and cold in Sweden in November I've had some time to try the game and write this... Since I'm a born cheater I've messed around some with the coaching skills to see the differences. So far I haven't seen a case where a coach with bad scouting skills really overestimates a player, but I've seen plenty of the opposite where underestimated players suddenly gets the respect they deserve when the coach gets a little mental upgrade. ;) So is it possible for coaches with bad scouting ability to largely overestimate an average player to the point where he appears to be the stud RB out of every desk GM's wet dreams? On the topic of the assistant coaches, do the gameplan skill for ST coaches affect the game in any way? From what I've seen it isn't even included among the skills on the Team Staff section and can only be seen when hiring and firing coaches. Additionally, would it be possible to be sign assistant coaches to multi-year contracts in the full version of the game? It might be my control obsession, but if I find a good assistant coach with prefered tactics that matches my visions for the team I'd want to lock him up for 5 years (or if that's too long at least 2 or 3). And now to something completely different: Recruiting. Wouldn't it be nice if some of the high school top prospects would change their interest level during the regular season? At least that's something I had in mind when winning a championship with Michigan and every single one of the projected top 50 CB had an interest level of "low" or "very low" when the 2 starters graduated. What about adding some kind of visits during the regular season as a way to catch the attention of the nations top prospects before the recruitment part? That way you could increase his interest by inviting him to a game where you crush a Top 25 team and set him up with a couple of cheerleaders :D (or do we have to wait for the next version before these kind of shady recruitment options are added?) Tim Plum
Since the ST plays are handled pretty much without play-calling the gameplan skill is probably a built in variable to the coach. Multi-year would be nice. A conscious decision by Arlie and argued at length some months ago by many people was to keep recruiting a self-contained unit and not spread throughout the game year.
