jbergey_2005 Posted November 25, 2005 Share Posted November 25, 2005 Ok, I have tried everything. I shut down all programs before installation, IE, MSN messenger. I can't get this thing to download past 44%, it has become very frustrating. I have tried on 2 separate computers and have had no luck. What I have done is downloaded the file, placed it on my desktop, rebooted my computer, shut down programs that start on the boot, then try to download. 20 times I have tried, have yet to get past the 44%. Tim Plum Posted November 25, 2005 Share Posted November 25, 2005 I believe at 44% is a font loading, could you double-check that, also try d/ling to a folder like My Downloads and not the desktop, then install direct. It basically gets to the 44%, freezes and then stop responding. However when I shut down my computer via Alt, control delete, after is starts shutting down programs, it will eventually unfreese and gets to about 60% before the computer shuts down. I am pretty sure it has something to do with a program that is running, however the only progams I have running when I try to install are the charter security suite(firewall and virus protecter). Guest [Icy] Posted November 25, 2005 Share Posted November 25, 2005 You're right, the problem is that another programm is running and using one of the fonts so it can't be overwritten. You need to make sure you don't have any other software running when you're installing the game, no Internet Explorer, no Email client, no antivirus, etc etc, check that you don't have also anything running in the background, that way you will get rid of this problem. I had to remove my antivirus software, drop the internet connection and shut down everything from the processes in my task manager. It then gave me 1 minute for it to finish downloading, which luckily it did. The game seems great, I am just basically shocked I had to go through this much to download this game, and am also just as stunned that there werent more people that had the problems I did, considering I had downloaded TEW05, TBP, and Wre Spy all from Grey Dog and had no problems it is confusing to me why this game would be so much more complicated. I will probably buy the game cause it looks fabulous, I however do hope the retail version isnt as difficult to download. Thanks for the demo release. Looks very in depth and fun.
