MJStark Posted March 15, 2010 Posted March 15, 2010 Having been a wrestler, announcer, manager, comissioner, promoter & booker (not all at once lol)for my own promotion in the real world (nothing too exciting, in TEW terms we never got above Local lol) I get an excuse to put myself in the game! Wrestling I was only ever a jobber, so I usually end up with the auto-push making me an announcer or an authority figure. Nice to know the game mirrors real life
hellshock70 Posted March 16, 2010 Posted March 16, 2010 Main Event i have a question at bit off topic but if you as the booker put yourself on top even if your the best worker in the company does that have an effect on the locker room? as having always maye me as a annouce/interview or roadie i just wounder if like in really life it can upset the looker room if the guy booking stick the belt on them? I created myself as a worker, did enough to get to the Hall, retired (edited myself to be injured since i don't think avatars retire the way other workers do), got inducted, took over a smaller promotion, came out of retirement and now use myself to put over lower level talent that i want to boost (and my avatar won't complain about jobbing, LOL). And the guys i put over generally jump from lower to midcard after he loses a 3-match run to them.
Sons of Kohral Posted March 16, 2010 Posted March 16, 2010 I like using Jack Avatar (with a different name, back story and pic) in my numerous SWF "see who I can make world champ)" games. Generally I push him to the moon in the beginning just to get his overness to B+ level and then job him to guys I'm pushing. I've never once made my Avatar World Champ.

I let the road agents (i.e. AI) handle outcomes since I'm running a fed that uses a 50's and 60's era style which isn't a "wrestling as a sport" but a "when wrestling was real" style. So there are plenty of highly talented "virtually unknown" workers and "indy stars" that have in three years achieved at least "national worker" status and moved on.
Candyman Posted March 16, 2010 Posted March 16, 2010 The bigger the company, the lesser my user character will be used on screen. In TCW or SWF, it's pretty much never...I'll give him decent entertainment skills in case I decide to turn him into a Jack Tunney-type President, who only shows up to make big announcements, but that's it. In Cult promotions like USPW or CGC, they're wrestlers but rarely move beyond jobbers. In smaller companies my user character will be one of the better wrestlers on the roster, but they almost never hold a title or anything(unless it's needed as a transitional champion). I've only had one game, with PSW, where my user character was the star of the show and held the belt more often than he didn't...and I had a hard time enjoying that game, so I stopped.

Ric Flair has been used to give a push to guys in WWE (Brock Lesner, Randy Orton & the late Umaga to name a few) and I didn't really want to tamper with guys like Rip Chord and Sam Strong just to have a legend to get young guys over with. Plus, like I mentioned previously "avatars won't complain". I tried it with a retired Sam Keith and it didn't go over too well with him. LOL
crownsy Posted March 16, 2010 Posted March 16, 2010 IT depends on the situation. In one of my favorite games, My user character's back story was that he was the son of a Oylmpic athlete and a movie star. His overall story was that he was tired of living in his parents shadow, took his inheratence at 18 (25K) and started a 0/0/0/25k promotion in texas, under a mask so no one would know his story. I gave him B's in Athletics, stamina, and most entertainment skills. Then i gave him a decent potential and made all his other stats a mix of E's to D+'s, depending on what i thought would be approprate for a world class athlete with little to no formal wrestling training. Since it was a glorified back yard fed, he started as one of the best wrestlers, and i Believe held the title as a transitional champ a few times. As We've grown, so have his in ring skills, and now at regional he's a passable mid carder who also does a bit of commentary/ manages/ ect. At some point, like Remmy, I have plans to involve him in an "unmasking" storyline where he reveals to all the (presumed) non smart marks that he's the owner and a famous couple's son. Probably save that to cement my move into cult with that game. I can't see myself or his all around skills justifying a push much past the mid card or authority figure, but i enjoy his backstory and the game in general. So, in summary, to each his own.
