The Challenge Day 1

You're looking live at Madison Square Garden at the opening night of the Ultimate Wrestling Challenge. We have 10 opening rounds matches tonite that are sure to amaze. Here is our first bout, Mick Foley and Hiroyoshi Tenzan

Mick Foley v. Hiroyoshi Tenzan

A hard hitting opening match between Mick and Hiroyoshi. Mick really looks like he is on his game and if he can continue this run, he could be a force. Foley hits the Double-Arm DDT and seems to knock Hiroyoshi out cold.

Winner - Mick Foley, via pinfall (C+)

Randy Orton v. Eddie Guerrero

Randy seemed a little over confident coming into this match. Eddie gains the upper hand early, and seems to get into the head of Orton. Orton beings to take control when he gets Eddie outside. Once the go back in the ring, however, Eddie gains the upperhand again with a low blow. He goes for the Frog Splash... but misses! Orton sizes Eddie up and delivers a HUGE blow to Guerrero with a punt. It's all but decided now.

Winner - Randy Orton, via pinfall ©

Kevin Nash v. Ron Simmons

A battle of two very powerful men. This match featured a lot of huge punches and slams, including powerbomb to the outside by Kevin Nash. Simmons wouldn't be outdone, hitting a running powerslam on Big Daddy Cool. Nash hits the jackknife, for the SECOND time, to finally get Simmons to stay down for a 3 count.

Winner - Kevin Nash, via pinfall (C+)

Kane v. Rey Misterio

As the match starts, it doesn't take much to see who has the size advantage going in. Kane seems to stalk and toy with Rey throwing him around and not letting him get any offense. Kane throws Rey with a two handed chokeslam, he reaches down to get Rey again, but he gets caught. Rey ties up Kane in a schoolboy and gets a 1....2....3! Rey runs out of the ring before the Big Red Machine gets his hands on him.

Winner - Rey Misterio via, pinfall (C+)

Shawn Michaels v. Sandman

If the last match veatured a large disparity between size, this one featured a huge difference in athletic ability. The only chance Sandman would have would be to turn this match ugly, which is exactly what he tried to do. HBK was thrown into stairs, choked on the ropes, and anything that Sandman could use to his advantage. But in the end, Shawn showed why he is one of the best, ending Sandman with Sweet Chin Music.

Winner - Shawn Michaels via pinfall ©

Bret Hart v. Davey Boy Smith

A first round family fued between the Hitman and the Bulldog. Bret tried to tire out the Bulldog and wear him out on the mat. Anytime that he would get a lot of offense going, Bret would slow the pace down. It began to really frustrate the Bulldog, and he finally turned the tide of the match. Working Bret from corner to corner and nearly getting pinfalls several times. Bret counters a suplex and applies the Sharpshooter in the center of the ring, but the Bulldog is too strong to keep down. He drags himself over towards the ropes, but when he lunges for the ropes, Bret brings him back to the middle. Bulldog is forced to submit.

Winner - Bret Hart, via submission (B)

CM Punk v. The Dynamite Kid

After watching his fellow British Bulldog lose, the Dynamite Kid looks to really get after CM Punk. Billington really starts with a lot of offense, forcing Punk to go outside to regroup. Billington meets him outside and keeps pressing the attack. After sustaining the 1st and 2nd waves of attacks, Punk begins mounting his own offense. Eventually Punk nails the Go to Sleep, and gets the victory.

Winner - CM Punk via pinfall. ©

Randy Savage v. Abdullah the Butcher

A Savage and a Butcher match for a hardcore contest. Both men took advantage of the no-DQ rule. Ring bells, choking with cords, chairs, and gaurd rails. After battering each other for several minutes, Savage gains the upper hand and hit with the elbow.

Winner - Randy Savage via pinfall. (B- Sidenote, they have good chemistry!)

Before we get to the final two matches, lets look ahead at the 2nd round of this region (2nd round features random gimmick matches):

Mick Foley v. Randy Orton

Kevin Nash v. Rey Misterio

Shawn Michaels v. Bret Hart

CM Punk v. Randy Savage

The Ultimate Warrior v. Brian Pillman

The Warrior, what a force. He absolutly overwhelms Pillman in the early goings. Pillman starts to mount a little offense and goes high risk off the top rope. Only to be caught by the Warrior and finished off.

Winner - The Ultimate Warrior via pinfall ©

John Cena v. Ricky Steamboat

Old School versus New School. The match starts pretty even, with Cena winning the power game, but Steamboat winning the technical aspect. Steamboat started to wear down Cena with holds and submissions. Trying to dictate the tempo. Cena gets to the ropes and breaks the hold. Once vertical, Cena begins to inflict damage on Steamboat. He gets him in the FU, but Steamboat counters to a DDT, 1...2...kickout! Cena puts on the STFU, Steamboat is fighting, reaching, looking for a way out. He finally gets to the ropes to break the hold. Once on their feet, Steamboat hits a few chops then bounces off the ropes, but is caught and nailed with an FU. 1...2...3!

Winner - John Cena via pinfall (B)

So that finishes night one of the Challenge. Night 2 features contrasting matches between The Giant versus Jushin Liger and Jericho versus Vader. Also featuring Undertaker, Jake Roberts, Jeff Hardy and Curt Hennig.

Ulitmate Wrestling Challenge Day 2

After the first day of action, what can we expect at the Staples Center? We've got a ton of great matches lined up, including our Main Event, "Stone Cold" Steve Austin against "The Rabid Wolverine" Chris Beniot!

The Big Show v. Jushin Liger

The Big Show saw what happened to Kane, and is not looking to make the same mistake against Liger. Big Show tries to physically dominate the match-up, and for the most part succeeds. Aside from a few bursts of offense, The Big Show advances to the second round.

Winner - The Big Show via pinfall. ©

Chris Jericho v. Vader

The power of Vader is tremendous. He rips Jericho around the ring cutting him off at every turn. Jericho goes to the outside to get away and uses the outside to make Vader run around. He gets Vader out on the floor and Springboards off the apron to hit him. After bringing Vader back in, Jericho begins his assault, for a time. After a splash in the corner, both men find themselves on the ground, Jericho pulls something out of his tights. When they get up Vader sets him up for the Vaderbomb, but gets nailed with the tried-and-ture Official Bad Guy Brass Knuckles Set. 1...2...3!

Winner - Chris Jericho via pinfall (B-)

Jake Roberts v. Bryan Danielson

The methodical Jake Roberts goes to work on Bryan Danielson. Both men take their time, sizing each other up. Jake wants to brawl a little bit more and nails the DDT, not once but twice. 1...2...3!

Winner - Jake Roberts via pinfall (D+)

Rick Rude v. Tommy Dreamer

Tommy Dreamer is a hardcore icon, but Rick Rude mustache is lengendary. Rude uses his wrestling ability to out-do Tommy Dreamer. Tommy got the match outside a few times, but Rude was too much. Tommy Dreamer got a Rude Awakening.

Winner - Rick Rude via pinfall (C-)

Samoa Joe v. The Undertaker

A lot of people fear The Undertaker, Samoa Joe isn't one of those guys. He hits Taker with hard strikes and takedowns to work over The Deadman. After sustaining offense begins to get the upper hand. He gets Joe in Hell's Gate, but Joe breaks free. The two battle, but eventually The Undertaker prevails.

Winner - The Undertaker via pinfall ©

Curt Hennig v. Jeff Hardy

Curt starts the match like any veteran facing a smaller, faster opponent. Working the legs. Jeff is having trouble with this technical attack, and needs to take a risk. Jeff his a flying body press onto Curt who is outside the ring. Now that Jeff has the momentum, he continues the flying attack on Mr Perfect. Once back in the ring, Jeff finishes off Curt from the top rope.

Winner - Jeff Hardy via pinfall (C+)

Now, let's take a look at the second round matchups in this region.

The Ultimate Warrior v. John Cena

The Big Show v. Chris Jericho

Jake Roberts v. Rick Rude

The Undertaker v. Jeff Hardy

Sid Vicious v. DDP

High impact moves where the story between Sid and DDP. "The Master of the Diamond Cutter" knew that he could defeat Sid if he could just find a way to hit his signature move. Sid did most of the punishment during this match, DDP found his spot and NAILED Sid with the Diamond Cutter. 1...2...3!

Winner - DDP via pinfall

Owen Hart v. Taz

The Suplex Machine battles Owen Hart in a pretty technical battle. Taz is definatly bringing his A game tonite. Owen tries to quiken the pace to throw Taz off, but it doesn't work. Eventually Taz gets him in the Tazmission and after a struggle, Owen submits.

Winner - Taz via submission (D+)

Steve Austin v. Chris Beniot

In the main event, Austin and Beniot get it locked up and rolling (whatever that means). After a fury of fists from Austin, Beniot tries to apply the Crossface, but Austin gets out quickly. He knows that the Crossface will end his night. They take the match outside and battle along the barricade. Neither man is gaining an advantage. After a few reversals, Austin reaches his arm in for the stunner, but Beniot catches him! The Crossface is applied! Beniot keeps tightening the hold, there is no way for Austin to get to the ropes! Austin gets to a knee and rolls so Beniot is on his back 1...2... kickout! After another exchange, Austin hits the stunner. Beniot is out cold. 1...2...3!

Winner - Steve Austin via pinfall (B-)

Ultimate Wrestling Challenge Day 3

It is night 3 of the Ultimate Wrestling Challenge! Some of the biggest names in wrestling will be in action tonight. Hulk Hogan, Sting, and "The People's Champion" The Rock! In the main event Kurt Angle battles Raven.

Sting v. Fit Finlay

A good way to start off the show with some good brawling and crowd heat. Sting is one of the all-time greats, but Finlay isn't a guy you can sleep on. Sting seems to keep his focus gets the submission.

Winner - Sting via pinfall (B-, with bad chemistry!)

Hulk Hogan v. AJ Styles

Look, AJ is a fine worker, but Hulk Hogan was on another level. AJ keeps the pace fast at first making Hogan work for any offense. Once Hogan gets him in his grasps, however, thats about all she wrote.

Winner - Hulk Hogan via pinfall (B, with great chemistry))

Sabu v. Ted DiBiase

Another classic old school versus new school. Sabu wants this to be a wild brawl, but anytime he gets Ted outside, he doesn't stay long. Keeping the action in the ring works to DiBiase's advantage and he really gets to Sabu. After a struggle, DiBiase falls outside and mayhem ensues. Sabu flies out of the ring and drags Ted around the outside. DiBiase is reeling. Sabu rolls Ted back in the ring, and as Sabu comes in, Ted gets a roll up using the ropes for leverage, 1...2...3!

Winner - Ted DiBiase via pinfall ©

Arn Anderson v. Ken Shamrock

Reversals, holds, submissions... These two are really going for a technical bout. Shamrock keeps going for Double A's leg, trying to apply the Anklelock. Anderson is having none of it. He starts to wear on Shamrock's right arm. If the arm is tired, it may be easier to get out of the hold. After an arm drag, Shamrock rolls over to grab on the Anklelock! It has been applied! Anderson fights for the rope.... and he gets it! The ref breaks the hold. Anderson begins to build momentum, with Shamrock flustered, Anderson gets the win.

Winner - Arn Anderson vis Pinfall (B-)

Roddy Piper v. Rob Van Dam

Van Dam really looked like a man that could make it very far in the tourney. With all the mind games, and dirty tricks Piper could try weren't enough. Van Dam had the crowd behind him and put Piper away.

Winner - Rob Van Dam via pinfall (C+)

Let's review the round 2 matches

DDP v. Taz

Steve Austin v. Sting

Hulk Hogan v. Ted DiBiase

Arn Anderson v. RVD

Scott Hall v. Jerry Lawler

Lawler really had the crowd hating him during this match. Low blows, taunting, and chop blocks to get the advantage on Scott Hall. Hall tries to power his way thru Lawler, but there is a reason he's The King.

Winner - Jerry "The King" Lawler

Terry Funk v. Triple H

A classic, old school brawl. Fists are flying and the juice starts flowing. After a piledriver on the stairs, Triple H dons the crimson mask. Funk starts working Triple H in the corner and Triple H pushes Funk out causing a bump with the ref. Triple H uses his trusty sledgehammer to gain the final advantage on Funk, getting the pinfall.

Winner - Triple H via pinfall (B)

The Rock v. Dean Malenko

Malenko knows that he has to keep this on the ground to win. The Rock, however, uses high impact moves to work Malenko over. He reverses the spinebuster into a DDT. The Rock is stunned, and Malenko tries the snap on the Cloverleaf, but The Rock kicks out. Malenko charges in... into The Rock Bottom! His aggression costs him the match.

Winner - The Rock via pinfall (C+)

Bam Bam Bigelow v. Lex Luger

Two powerful wrestlers try to overpower one another to get the advantage. Bigelow begins to work Luger over with a hard right hand, backing him into a corner.Luger reverses an irish whip and clotheslines Bigelow out the corner, beginning to quicken the pace. Luger really picks up a head of steam and gets the win.

Winner - Lex Luger via pinfall (B-)

Kurt Angle v. Raven

Angle starts off the match with arm drags and holds to get into the head of Raven. Raven is behind in grappling department, but ahead in the hardcore business. The match goes to the outside and runs Angle into the ring post. Raven follows up with a DDT on the outside. Angle is really hurting and can barely make the ten count. Raven continues to apply the pressure on Angle, keeping his offense to a minimum. Raven sets up the Evenflow, but Angle spins him around and his the Angle Slam! 1...2...KICKOUT! Angle stalks Raven, looking to plan his next move. He gives Raven too much of a breather and Raven goes back on offense. He goes for a kick to set up a DDT, but he's caught. Angle rolls the foot over, ANGLELOCK! Raven hold in the pain, and passes out in the hold.

Winner - Kurt Angle via submission (B)

Ultimate Wrestling Challenge Day 4

The final night of round 1, we have some special features along with our final 3 matches. Dusty Rhodes v. Edge, Ric Flair v. Ultimo Dragon, and Brock Lesnar v. Goldberg.

Brian Pillman v. The Dynamite Kid

Two high fliers kick off the night a modern-day spotfest. Dives to the outside and sunset flips get the crowd going and make for an entertaining bout. In the end, The Kid was too much for Brian Pillman.

Winner - The Dynamite Kid, via pinfall (C-)

Abdullah the Butcher v. Vader

The total opposite of the last match. Hard hitting, blood, and stiff shots. Abdullah gets Butchered on the outside by Vader. Vader stays in control almost the entire time.

Winner - Vader, via pinfall (C-)

Eddie Guerrero v. Sabu

Sabu starts off hot, getting Eddie outside. He flies over the top rope and splashes on Eddie. Sabu then drags Eddie into the crowd and continues the punishment. Guerrero gets back some momentum after throwing a beer in Sabu's face. He gets Sabu back in the ring and uses his techincal abilities to get back on top.

Winner - Eddie Guerrero via pinfall (C great chemistry!)

Dean Malenko v. Ken Shamrock

A battle of submission artists begins very slowly. Both men know that one false move and land them in a submission. Malenko, the better wrestler, starts to quicken the pace and try to get Shamrock out of his element. Malenko gets Ken in the corner stomping him. Shamrock blocks a kick and grabs Malenkos ankle. The Anklelock is applied. Malenko taps!

Winner - Ken Shamrock, via submission ©

Ricky Steamboat v. Owen Hart

Both men can really work a good match. Steamboat's experience seems to be the deciding factor in the end. Owen just can't match up with him mentally, yet.

Winner - Ricky Steamboat, via pinfall (B-)

Edge v. Dusty Rhodes

In maybe the most evenly contested match in the tourney, Edge and Rhodes put on a show. Edge gains momentum early, but before he can seriously make a move for victory, Rhodes goes on the attack. Edge is trapped in the corner and Dusty hits a splash taking the wind out of Edge. Edge rolls out of the ring only to be greeted by the right hand of Big Dust. He plays to the crowd and lets Edge get a breather, giving Edge a chance to hit a DDT. Edge rolls back in, begging the ref to count. The ref explains that there is no countout in this tourney and also no DQ.

Edge gets an idea and gets a chair from the outside. Before he can use it, Dusty counters and starts beating Edge with his own weapon! Dusty throws Edge back in the ring. Dusty tosses Edge into the corner and charges in for a clothesline. Edge counters and Dusty throws his head into the post. As Dusty staggers, Edge hits the spear! 1...2...3!

Winner - Edge, via pinfall (B)

Ric Flair vs. The Ultimo Dragon

Flair is a classy guy and a world class worker. Flair toys with Ultimo before getting himself caught. The Dragon is a very skilled worker showing Flair stuff he isn't used to seeing. But after a low blow, and the Figure-Four, The Dragon submits. Woooooo!

Winner - Ric Flair, via submission (B-)

Brock Lesnar v. Goldberg

In a rematch of one of the strangest Wrestlemania matches ever, more of the same happens. Neither guy really seems comfortable working with the other. Lots of high impact moves and superhuman athletic ability keeps the crowd excited. Goldberg misses on a spear after Lesnar hurdles him. Once he gets back in close, Lesnar hits the F-5. 1...2...KICKOUT! Lesnar is shocked. He gets Goldberg back up and sets him up for another F-5, but Goldberg lands on his feet and nails the spear. Jackhammer! 1...2...3!
