Amazing Fire Fly vs DeCipher (New York Championsip)

Fire Fly isn't dropping it to the DeCipher. No.

Panda Mask II vs Giant Brody

I'm really not sure about this one, but I do think you are still trying to get Brody over, so I'll go with him.

Surfeador Californiano vs Jayson Van Pelt

Gimmick change+NY title reign in the future= JVP victory.

Cal Sanders vs The Masked Outlaw

Outlaw takes this easy.

Nigel Svensson vs Donte Dunn

I really dont know which way to go with this. Svensson's been getting the push, but I know you love Donte Dunn too. I could see a draw, then both men taking on Sensitive for the title. I dont know why but I keep thinking Dunn is going to be the next champ. And I dont think Svensson would be right as the champ. His promo work isn't good at all. Picking Dunn, although it could be a draw.

??? vs Justin Sensitive (BAW Championship)

New guy isn't big enough to get the title first time through the curtain.

BAW One Step Closer #23

Week 3 March 2012

Weston Gymnasium, New Jersey

Attendance: 125

Pre Show

Our positive backstage continued, with our new signing proving to be a great guy. Nigel also helped pick spirits up by recalling some of his stories from the road. I have to admit, that guy knows how to live.

Main Show

Amazing Fire Fly vs DeCipher

New York Championship

A good opening match from these two, despite there being a lack of psychology on show. Amazing Fire Fly picked up the win, and made a second successful defence of his title.

Winner: Amazing Fire Fly in 7:59

Panda Mask II vs Giant Brody

This was meant to be the big win that pushed Panda Mask to the Main Event, and started his push towards a title challenge. Unfortunately these two just didn’t click, and that really hurt the match. The match finished after a surprise roll up from Panda Mask after Brody had looked like he was beginning to gain an advantage.

Winner: Panda Mask II in 7:43

Brody ‘Promo’

After his win, Panda Mask bailed from the ring and quickly made his way to the back. Brody regained his feet, and promptly went into a wild rage. Screaming at the top of his lungs as he realised he had just suffered his first loss in BAW.

Notes: Another good segment from Brody.

Surfeador Californiano vs Jayson Van Pelt

Okay this was bad. Californiano was rusty, and it really showed. He showed a lack of Psychology, and at times his selling was poor. The only positive of this match was that Jayson’s new gimmick went over well with the crowd.

Winner: Jayson Van Pelt in 8:16

Cal Sanders vs The Masked Outlaw

This match was much better than the previous two, but it still bought up some problems. The Masked Outlaw’s new gimmick didn’t go over brilliantly, and Sanders’ character is becoming stale. We really need the Main Events to be good this week.

Winner: The Masked Outlaw in 8:25

Sensitive Promo

Sensitive: “So, finally I seem to be getting some respect around here. Last week I asked for some new competition, and this week BAW management has fulfilled that request.”

He pauses while the crowd cheer at the announcement of a new signing.

Sensitive: “Unfortunately they won’t tell me who they’ve bought in, but it doesn’t matter. Whoever it is, they can’t measure up to Justin Sensitive. Come the end of the night, I will still be BAW Champion... that much I can promise.”

Notes: Not bad from the champ, who continues to improve on the mic.

Nigel Svensson vs Donte Dunn

I would say this was poor, but compared the last few weeks Semi-Main events which have bombed... this wasn’t too horrible. Nigel had an off night, which probably didn’t help, but this put a lot of pressure on my Main Event.

Winner: Donte Dunn in 15:55

Ace Youngblood vs Justin Sensitive ©

BAW Championship

Having bought in Ace to be my new main Face, I decided to see what he could do straight off the bat. The answer? Not all that great. This didn’t live up to the majority of the Main Events we’ve put on over the last few weeks. I had Justin Sensitive pick up the win after using underhand tactics, in case I wanted to set up a storyline off of this match, but considering how it went... I don’t think I’ll bother.

Winner: Justin Sensitive in 18:13

Match of the Night: Amazing Fire Fly vs DeCipher

Trash of the Night: Surfeador Californiano vs Jayson Van Pelt

Next Time: We need to find a way to put on the sort of Main Events we were putting on last year...

‘Creative’ this month was fairly tame. I hadn’t made any mistakes, so Harvey had nothing to moan about. We were making around $8,000 each month, even running two shows a month.

While ‘Creative’ was positive, my mood was brought down by the ratings in the local paper.

At the moment we’re struggling to compete with the other Tri State promotions, which is a real problem, as it is preventing us from building any momentum at all.

The month started well, with me extending DeCipher’s deal for another 9 months. I also talked to Giant Brody, who after one loss had dropped his wage demands back down to his original level. This worked for me, as I could go back to pushing him. After sorting these deals out, I decided to release Antix. He hadn’t done a good job for us since joining, and maybe a change of scenery would do him good.

After looking at my roster, I realised we were lacking a bit of quality in our Midcard. In an attempt to rectify this, I bought in Cheetah Boy. He wasn’t that popular right now, but he certainly had the potential to do a decent job for us.

I had decided to try something new after the last few shows had struggled. However, now looking at my card, I realised just how many risks I was taking. I also noticed that we had a few guys who were suffering from rust. I needed to give them some ring time in order to work it off...

5 Man Battle Royal (Svensson, Surfeador Californiano, Dragon Americano, Atlas, Hijo Del Aguila Americana)

Svensson continues his push

Joffy Laine vs Donte Dunn

Dunn all the way

Cheetah Boy vs Jayson Van Pelt

Little risky pick here but since I bombed last month I need to take some risks if I´m going to win and you need faces near the top of the ladders more than heels.

Ace Youngblood vs DeCipher

DeCipher is jobber anyway and Ace needs to gain some wins in order to stay near top

Amazing Fire Fly vs The Masked Outlaw (New York Championship)

Little early for a title change but since Nigel needs that shot at some point it´s likely that heel will be the champ at that time and Fire Fly only got this title reign because it looked like Dunn was leaving.

Cal Sanders vs Justin Sensitive (BAW Championship)

Nope, Sanders isn´t going to be your next champ

Jayson is awesome.

Ace Youngblood vs DeCipher

5 Man Battle Royal (Svensson, Surfeador Californiano, Dragon Americano, Atlas, Hijo Del Aguila Americana)

Svensson is the only person I can see winning this one.

Joffy Laine vs Donte Dunn

Joffy=Jobby

Cheetah Boy vs Jayson Van Pelt

JVP wins again, still building his way to the NY title I believe.

Ace Youngblood vs DeCipher

Ace is a ME, a patchwork one honestly, but a Main Eventer. DeCipher... not so much.

Amazing Fire Fly vs The Masked Outlaw (New York Championship)

Fire Fly takes it, Outlaw is good, but I dont know if his lack of stamina would keep him from a midcard belt. Plus I still think JVP is getting set up for the NY title. So keeping the face holding the belt would set that up best.

Cal Sanders vs Justin Sensitive (BAW Championship)

The Lumberjack just isn't competition for Justin Sensitive.

BAW Call To Arms #4

Week 1 April 2012

Weston Gymnasium, New Jersey

Attendance: 300 (Sell Out!)

Pre Show

The backstage atmosphere was amazing tonight! Cheetah Boy was fitting in really well, and the guys still seemed to be having a laugh about some of the stories Nigel had told at last weeks show.

Main Show

Nigel Svensson vs Surfeador Californiano vs Dragon Americano vs Atlas vs Hijo Del Aguila Americana

Welcome to my ‘Work the rust off battle royal’. I had no idea how this would go, considering who was involved it could bomb. As it was, it went as well as it could have. The match itself wasn’t horrible, and it helped Hijo work off the last of his rust. On top of that, it had the added bonus off a lot of the guys looking like they were learning in there. The final two were Nigel Svensson and Atlas, with Svensson picking up the final fall and the victory.

Winner: Nigel Svensson in 10:26

Joffy Laine vs Donte Dunn

Despite Joffy Laine having an off night, this wasn’t too bad a match. It was an improvement on the battle royal, and as an added bonus Donte Dunn looked like he was learning out there. Bit of a surprise to see a Main Eventer learning from a Lower Midcarder, but we’ll take it.

Winner: Donte Dunn in 9:10

Brody ‘Promo’

Brody hits the ring and Laine and Dunn bail. Brody remains in the ring for a few minutes looking menacing and intimidating.

Notes: Not quite as good as usual, but not bad.

Cheetah Boy vs Jayson Van Pelt

Another decent match, about on par with the Laine/Dunn match. I decided to give Van Pelt the win to continue his push.

Winner: Jayson Van Pelt in 7:40

Ace Youngblood vs DeCipher

I use DeCipher as a test of Faces ability. If you can’t put on a good match with DeCipher you’re not worth a push. Unfortunately for Ace, this was a poor match... and I’m not really sure why.

Winner: Ace Youngblood in 7:52

Sensitive Promo

Sensitive: “Wow... wow! We really are scraping the bottom of the barrel here! I mean Cal Sanders? In what world does Cal Sanders deserve a title shot? I mean, when was the last time the guy even won a match? I guess I can only thank BAW management, easy nights are always appreciated.”

Notes: Sensitive continues to improve on the mic, putting in a promo on par with Brody’s effort.

Amazing Fire Fly vs The Masked Outlaw

I took a risk putting this as the Semi-Main event, and it didn’t really pay off. It wasn’t a terrible match, but it also wasn’t great. It was too short to be this high up the card, and suffered from a lack of Psychology being on show. Amazing Fire Fly retained his title, making his third defence.

Winner: Amazing Fire Fly in 10:16

Cal Sanders vs Justin Sensitive ©

BAW Championship

And now my biggest risk of the night. Cal had somehow worked his way up to the Upper Midcard, and was debuting a new gimmick. With this in mind, I decided to give him a chance to show me what he could do. As it happens, he impressed me. This was a match on par with any of Justin Sensitive’s title defences. It also put Calk’s new ‘Happy Go Lucky’ gimmick over brilliantly. Justin Sensitive picked up the win, and Cal looked like he was learning out there.

Winner: Justin Sensitive in 15:40

Match of the Night: Main Event

Trash of the Night: Youngblood vs DeCipher

Next Time: Considering all the risks Danny took in that show, it didn’t go too badly. However, it was an expensive show, with Danny using everybody on the roster. Would he cut back on the next show in order to compensate?

It was a quiet couple of weeks between shows. All that happened of note was that I extended Jonathan Taylor’s contract. He was a decent enough ref, and was useful to have backstage. With this sorted, I decided to check my roster and see how it was shaping up.

Main Event: Justin Sensitive (Heel), Amazing Fire Fly (Face), Giant Brody (Heel)

Upper Mid: Cal Sanders (Face), Donte Dunn (Heel), The Masked Outlaw (Heel)

Midcard: Ace Youngblood (Face), Panda Mask II (Face), Nigel Svensson (Face), Jayson Van Pelt (Heel), Atlas (Heel)

Lower Mid: Joffy Laine (Face), DeCipher (Heel), Hijo Del Aguila Americana (Heel)

Openers: Cheetah Boy (Face), Dragon Americano (Face), Surfeador Californiano (Face)

I’ll be honest the way the roster shaped up surprised me. For a start we don’t have a good balance between babyfaces and heels. Secondly, everyone I’m trying to push is sitting in the midcard. Meanwhile there are guys in the uppercard that haven’t won in months (Cal Sanders I’m looking at you).

Darn I bombed again with being only guy who didn´t get all six right, guess I´m back for my usual accuraty then:p

Amazing Fire Fly vs Jayson Van Pelt (New York Championship)

I was little surprised to see that Fire Fly is a main eventer now and thus above midcard belt but since Outlaw didn´t get the job done I doubt tha Van Pelt will win here either

Nigel Svensson vs Atlas

Svensson push continues

Ace Youngblood vs Hijo Del Aguila Americana

Ace is the more likely guy to win here though it seems that he won´t be one of your top guys anytime soon

Cheetah Boy vs The Masked Outlaw

openers don´t win against upper midcarders

Cal Sanders vs Donte Dunn

Sanders in upper midcard? Still he won´t get a win against Dunn

Panda Mask II vs Justin Sensitive (BAW Championship)

Nope I won´t predict Panda Mask this time either

Cal Sanders vs Donte Dunn

More averageness here, and again I’m not entirely sure why. I had hoped two Upper-Midcarders would put on a better match than this. Donte Dunn had an off night and there was a lack of Psychology (as always), so I guess that dragged the match rating down.

A good match from these two, which didn’t look out of place as our Main Event. Justin Sensitive made the 7th successful defence of his BAW Championship, meaning that despite me not being overly impressed with him as champ he was closing in on KC Glenn’s record of 8 defences.

BAW Call To Arms #5

Week 1 May 2012

Weston Gymnasium, New Jersey

Attendance: 300 (Sell Out!)

Pre Show

Giant Brody was on form this week, pulling out some spot on impressions of some of his colleagues. I have to admit I was impressed. Brody’s great backstage, and his impression has bought the backstage atmosphere to near perfect levels.

Main Show

Cal Sanders vs Jayson Van Pelt ©

New York Championship

A good start to the show from these two. Jayson Van Pelt looked good in the first defence of his New York Championship.

Winner: Jayson Van Pelt in 8:37

Joffy Laine vs Giant Brody

Domination time for Brody, with this shows victim being Joffy Laine. The match is as bad as expected, but at least it looked like the guys were learning from each other out there.

Winner: Giant Brody in 5:32

Brody ‘Promo’

Brody remains in the ring for a few minutes after his match, looking menacing and intimidating.

Notes: Good stuff as usual from Brody.

Cheetah Boy vs DeCipher

I took a risk here, putting two lower-midcarders against each other. The match was distinctly average, with Cheetah Boy picking up the win.

Winner: Cheetah Boy in 7:53

Amazing Fire Fly vs Mustang Blanco Jr

I put these two luchadores together as I thought their similar styles would complement each other... how wrong was I? These two just didn’t click at all. This caused the match to be trash of the night so far. At least Mustang looked like he was learning out there...

Winner: Amazing Fire Fly in 8:30

Sensitive Promo

Senstive: “So, having beaten everyone that this company has to offer, BAW management has decided that we’re just going to have to go around everyone again. A bit boring for me, but not a problem. I’ve beaten all of these guys once before, and I’ll have no problem doing so again.”

Notes: Not bad from Sensitive. He’s definitely better on the mic now than when he first started here.

Panda Mask II vs Donte Dunn

A decent match from these two, on par with the opener in terms of quality. I gave the win to Donte Dunn, as he has impressed me more in the past few months than Panda Mask has.

Winner: Donte Dunn in 16:08

Ace Youngblood vs Justin Sensitive ©

BAW Championship

A good finish to the show from these two, the sort of match we expect to finish the show. Justin Sensitive picked up the win to equal KC Glenn’s record for the most successful title defences.

Winner: Justin Sensitive in 18:45

Match of the Night: Main Event

Trash of the Night: Amazing Fire Fly vs Mustang Blanco Jr

Next Time: Does Danny have anyone on the roster worthy of taking the title off of Justin Sensitive? If not, how long can Sensititve hold on to the gold?

It was a quiet couple weeks between shows. I had so much time on my hands, I decided to check up on how some of the BAW alumni were getting on.

KC Glenn, Extraordinario Jr and Mr Lucha III were all still under written contracts at WLW. KC Glenn has had a poor year with a record of 4 wins and 14 losses, although his last outing was in an impressive win against The Tic... so maybe things were looking up for our former champ. Mr Lucha III is another who has struggled this year, with a record of 3 wins and 12 losses. Like KC Glenn, Lucha also won on his last outing against Soul Taker. Extraordinario Jr has been the most successful of our alumni. He is the current World Level Universal title (Main Event title) holder, with 5 successful defences and an overall record of 18 wins, 1 draw and 7 losses. His exploits this year have bought his mask prestige up to 63%, and moved him to 24% of the way to a place in the Hall of Immortals!

Davis Wayne Newton has had a hectic year, in which his overall record is 9 wins and 10 losses. He opened the year as CGC Canadian Champion, which he held until his final show at CGC in April making 16 defences. In April he left CGC for the big time, signing a written deal with TCW. He has had 2 matches so far at TCW, losing in both.

Greg Gauge is still under a written contract at NOTBPW, with a good record this year of 7 wins and 3 losses. Brendan Idol is working under a P.P.A deal at CZCW, with a mixed record of 2 wins and 3 losses for the year. Ant Man is continuing his development contract at RIPW, but is struggling this year with a record of 1 win, 1 draw and 3 losses.

Sozen Ishinomori is still on a P.P.A deal at WEXXV, with a mixed record of 4 wins and 5 losses. Dermott Ayres continues at ACPW, although he has been used sparingly with just 2 matches this year, both of which he has won. Chris Flynn is on a P.P.A at 4C, with a mixed record of 2 wins and 2 losses this year. Morgan Malone is another at 4C, with 3 losses this year.

Steel, El Ladron, Antix, Stretch the Chicken Boy and Surfeador Californiano are all currently unemployed, and none have worked since leaving the company.

Our former ref, Wilson Carlisle is still under a written contract at TCW. Noel Madden, the man who replaced him, is working at CWWF on a P.P.A deal.

Our former Colour Commentator Tim Weightman, and our former Road Agent June Butler are both currently unemployed.

Nigel Svensson vs Jayson Van Pelt (New York Championship)

I know I wanted Svensson to get the title shot but since Van Pelt just got the title I think it´s too early to make a chainge here

Cheetah Boy vs Mustang Blanco Jr

Cheetah got the win lst month so maybe he continues that here

Dragon Americano vs Donte Dunn

No need to explain this pick

Panda Mask II vs Atlas

Urgh...Do I really have to?...Well ok, Panda Mask takes the win here:p

Ace Youngblood vs The Masked Outlaw

Outlaw picks up the win here maninly bacause I expect title change to happen in this show

Amazing Fire Fly vs Justin Sensitive (BAW Championship)

Fire Fly seems like the most likely guy to take the title away from Justin and now is a good time to do so since there isn´t really much challengers left for Justin
