No main events for Regueiro?

Recommended Posts

Okay, so I've hit a problem that I've never faced before. It seems that Regueiro is incapable of main eventing anymore and I have no idea why. He's at 100% International and no matter who I try to match him up with the main event is "very poor". Li-Kong Ho on the other hand, who is also at 100% International can main event with anyone who is Low National or better, even one guy who is coming off of a loss, and even against fighters with 60 or so reputation. Basically, I'm matching Regueiro up with better and more popular fighters than Ho but he still isn't able to main event.

I'm trying to match Regueiro with guys who are coming off winning streaks, have 80+ reputation, high popularity (even low International guys), he's not fighting guys for a third time, anything I can think of but there is absolutely nothing for him. The WW belt is at "fantastic" reputation so that shouldn't be any problem. Unless the fans are just getting sick and tired of Regueiro I am at a lost with what to do with him. I certainly don't want to co-main event him because that won't fix the problem and I do need him to start main eventing again.

Anyone have any ideas as to what might be wrong?

A trend that I have noticed is that if you try and book a rematch as your main event only a short while after they first faced the audience will poo poo it. Maybe this is the case for you as well. Either that or the takedown, transition, submission, rinse and repeat format doesn't tickle the fans as it once used to. Li-Kong Ho is in a league of his own so the comparison is redundant. :)

Could it be that your promotion has grown a lot recently. If you get to 100% pop at international your fans expect HUGE main events, and maybe no one is good enough in your division other than Reguiro for the fans.

But the fact that Ho is at the same point and can still get main events is confusing. What Reputation & Performance %'s does Julio have?

Edit-And the repeated Main events thing doesnt seem to be a problem for me...i booked Plasil vs Ho on three shows with those being Consecutive fights for Ho, but Plasil fought in a tournament between matches 1 and 2. And match 2 was 8/2006 and match 3 was 1/2007.

That's not it. I'm putting Regueiro up against guys he has fought before, but only once and anywhere from 2 or so years ago. If the fans could get bored of a champion then that would be a cool little feature (even if it's screwing me over right now), but I would like a confirmation that if it's true.

Could it be that your promotion has grown a lot recently. I have NEVER had this problem before playing WMMA2. Both guys have 100% International fame in America, but Ho has Regueiro beat in performance at 69% against 62%.

I'm guessing that performance is the main cause. It's hard to control that thought because exciting fighters usually get beat by the boring ones... Guess I'll manipulate that a little more and see what happens.

I just cheated and edited Regueiro's Performance up and that seems to have fixed the problem. That's really a hard stat to take care of since you can't always just match champions (or even fighters) up with whoever, you only have a small amount of candidates. And too often two exciting fighters will have boring fights. This is a really tough nut to crack and I honestly don't even know where to begin to fix this problem or prevent it in the future.

I find myself stumped by this issue fairly often as well. The first time it happened, I was like "Why does this match-up between two undefeated guys with High International popularity who have huge winning streaks and have never fought each other get a 'very poor' match rating?!"
