WWE: On The Road To Renewal

Recommended Posts

June 23, 2010.... 8:00am

Vince McMahon calls an urgent meeting with the entire WWE Staff (creative, writing, road agents, referees, board, etc.)

VM: We are at a crossroads here. While we are a solid financial company and gaining some young fans, we remain low in ratings and losing the young adult audience. They are not turning to TNA, they are just giving up on wrestling. While we cannot go back to the extreme of our attitude era, because we are aiming for families, new sponsors, and a clean slate... we will be heading in a more edgy direction. We will have some PG, but we will not be as strict as we are presently. We will never be able to go back to the attitude era because we don't have the Austins, Rocks, etc. This is a new breed of talent. I have sat down with my daughter Stephanie, Michael Hayes, my son-in-law Paul (Triple H), and a few superstars like Shawn Michaels, and The Undertaker. We discussed the pro's and con's of the now and then. With that being said, we are going to change some things.

1) I have hired Lance Storm to be the main road agent for Smackdown and appointing Arn Anderson as the main road agent for Raw. Dean Malenko will be the second main road agent on Raw and Ricky Steamboat the second on Smackdown. I have instructed those four men to look at the rosters in the WWE, as well as, free agents or those with an open contract. They will be holding a draft this week and making negotiations.

2) WWE Superstars is being canceled.

3) We are thinking of adding a third show in it's place showcasing not only development talent, but a cruiserweight division. Another option is having cruiserweights on both Raw and Smackdown, and having the title defended on both shows.. similar to the Unified Tag Team Titles.

4) Regarding the current roster, we may be letting some talent go or sending them down to our development territory in Florida. Myself, and the four gentlemen I mentioned earlier, Shawn Michaels (whom is not under contract, just for input), Triple H, and Stephanie.

We will be sharing information as we receive it. Thank you.

Rumors Going Around The Internet

It appears the WWE is interested in possibly bringing back some former divas, but we are not certain who they may be. WWE seems to be keeping a tight lip on some signings as well as new rosters for Raw and Smackdown.

Names of divas we have seen pop up is Mickie James, Tara, Torrie Wilson, Candice Michelle, and Maria. We cannot confirm any of these have been signed, they are just rumors.

Also, it seems WWE is signing some talent on a very short-term deal to see how they fair in dark matches. The only rumors we speculate are the Briscoe Brothers from ROH.

WWE is apparently wanting to spark up the Diva division, Cruiserweight Division, and Tag Team Division. As well as build back the prestige for the Intercontinental and United States Titles, and build up younger stars.

It's rumored the WWE website will be listing the changes on the rosters quietly and not saying much until the show Raw airs.

<em>I like this team's chemistry.</em></p><p> </p><p>

Sorry, had some issues but back... off we go (quick results)

Raw Results

Dark Match: Gail Kim defeated Melissa Anderson

WWE is slowly looking at all the divas and options of how to make the wrestling better, with Gail Kim being one of the leaders. This match was short and just to start off the night.

Match Rating: C-

The opening of Raw. Wade Barrett was in the ring with the microphone, as he talked about being the new face of the company. It isn't Sheamus, Triple H, or John Cena. He gets a title shot at a pay per view and demands it at Money In The Bank. Cena's music hits and he talks about Barrett doesn't deserve to get that title shot. He thinks they should fight for that title shot. Sheamus attacks Cena from behind and Barrett just smiles. Then Sheamus grabs the mic and asks Barrett what's so funny... then Sheamus and Barrett get in each other's face... Barrett slaps Sheamus and leaves the ring quickly.

Shelton Benjamin and Charlie Haas backstage interview. They talk about their return and how things will be different. Their first goal is to win the tag team titles from the Hart Dynasty and show how great of talent they are.

One Fall: Wade Barrett defeated Goldust

Goldust got some momentum early in the match but Barrett used his size and apparently some "cheating" tips from his former mentor Chris Jericho, then hit his finisher to win the victory.

Match Rating: C

Daniel Bryan comes out and addresses the WWE Universe. Bryan is wearing a tie around his neck and says he got fired not for drug abuse, not for sucking at his job or rubbing a top talent the wrong way, but for doing his job and making it interesting. He says he's better than anyone in the back and everyone knows it. He's not Daniel Bryan, he's Bryan Danielson. Then Jericho's music hits and he walks down to get in the ring. Jericho tells Danielson he isn't as great as him... he already beat him on NXT. After exchanging some words, Danielson slapped Jericho and smiled.. Jericho slapped Danielson back and Bryan just stood and smiled.. dropped the mic and left the ring.

One Fall: Morrison & R-Truth vs. Slater & Gabriel

In a match that had some good action, John Morrison and R-Truth defeated Heath Slater and Justin Gabriel when John Morrison defeated Justin Gabriel by pinfall with a Moonlight Drive.

Match Rating: C-

One Fall: Shelton Benjamin vs. Tyson Kidd

This match went back and forth. While both men did some great flying moves and basic wrestling, Shelton was able to capitalize and pin one half of the tag team champions.

Match Rating: C+

One Fall: Christian vs. William Regal

In a great match that had the crowds attention, Christian was able to get the upper hand and hit the killswitch to land the victory.

Match Rating: B

United States Title Three-Way: The Miz© vs. Evan Bourne vs. Paul London

In a fast pace match... the Miz mostly laid on the outside while Bourne and London gave some great moves in the ring. After Evan hit the Shooting Star Press on London... the Miz was able to get Bourne up, knock him to the outside and grab the pin on London for the victory.

Match Rating: C

One Fall: John Cena vs. Chris Jericho

In a match that had excellent in-ring action and great heat from the audience, John Cena defeated Chris Jericho by pinfall with an Attitude Adjustment after a distraction from Daniel Bryan. After the match we also had Wade Barrett run in and attack Cena.

Match Rating: B

Final Show Rating: B

Reported on WWE Corporate Website

R-Truth has begun a 28 day suspension for drug issues.

Paul London has begun a 28 day suspension for dug issues.

Rumors

Because of the push WWE was giving R-Truth, it may be that may be 'humbled' when he returns. I've been told if he screws up again, he'll be released immediately.

Paul London was in the midst of receiving a decent push. We'll see if the WWE has lost faith in him as well.

Mickie James will pummel Layla

Two words, three syllables...Knockout Punch

And as of now... nobody is a diva champion.. it will be decided in a match that will be announced on Raw.

McCool tried to help Layla during the match but accidentally hit Layla and Mickie got the roll up.
