World Wrestling Entertainment: Heart & Passion return

Back Then...

Wrestling entered its highest peak in the mid 1990s. The imagination of every fan grew, unannounced surprises, new superstars arriving on the scene, and champions being made before our very eyes. Vince then purchased ECW, as well as, his head competitor WCW. Then some dream matches were now possibilities. Eventually, it began to deteriorate. Some wrestlers retiring and moving on with their life. Some passing their peak with age. Jeff Jarrett and Dixie Carter began to try to lift the competition again. Many superstars were hoping, because competition made everyone work harder and it made the business what it was. TNA began to acquire big names like Kurt Angle, Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair, Jeff Hardy, Ken Anderson, Mick Foley, and the list goes on. Still, not the competition everyone is looking for. With drug issues, steroid links, and mostly the Chris Benoit-murder tragedy, wrestling once again seemed to hide in the shadows. Then a surprising turn of events, Shane McMahon left the WWE to persue other interests, as well as, Linda McMahon running for a Senate seat. This left Vince McMahon, Stephanie McMahon-Levesque, and Paul Michael Levesque running the show. Shawn Michaels retired. Edge, Chris Jericho, The Undertaker, Triple H, and several others are getting older by the year and very few superstars ready to take their place. This leaves Vince McMahon a lot to think about, a lot to chew on, and a lot of questions without answers.

As It Slowly Builds

Vince realizes time is short for some of the talent, as well as, wrestling is not as it once was. Vince has decided for the first time, to take a short break to figure things out. Vince has told the WWE headquarters he will be taking a 4 week sabbatical starting in September to get his head on straight and figure out how to raise the level in wrestling again, mostly the WWE. He has put Paul Levesque and Stephanie McMahon-Levesque in charge for those 4 weeks. Vince has vowed when he returns, things will be shaken up once again in the wrestling world. "Expect the unexpected."

The Paul & Stephanie Show

With many storylines already in place for the next WWE pay per view, Night of Champions, Paul and Stephanie decided to lay low and just keep things moving. Chris Jericho decided not to resign with the WWE until Vince was back so they could talk, which Paul and Stephanie begin to look for a replacement for the 6-pack challenge, as well as, maybe throw in a few surprises?

Dolph Ziggler defeated Kofi Kingston to retain the IC Title.

Michelle McCool defeated Melina to become the first WWE Diva's unified champion.
