Box scores and play calls

Recommended Posts

Will there be a utility to help clean out unwanted boxscores, game logs, and player cards? I'd like to have everything available for the current season, but then be able to delete everything not belonging to my own team, or my own conference, at the end of the year. When i call up a boxscore, click on a player to view his card, i can't get back to the boxscore; i have to close it all out and call up the stats all over again. Are the diagrams for the defensive plays accurate? I've been playing 4-3, but a lot of them seem to have incomplete blitz representations. The WLB especially never seems to show a blitz arrow, even on plays calling for #5 blitzer. Does the Run & Gun use single back formations? The manual and in-game color balloons indicate it's a penalized formation, but the OC suggests it an awful lot of the time. The clock: when i call TO on defense, 25-35 seconds still run off. An out-of-bounds play can take more than 15 seconds. And a no-huddle option will be nice. Can there be an option to rest the starters when the game is out of reach? I suppose i could do this by redoing the entire depth chart, but a simple operation to move each starter to the bottom of the chart would be nifty. And a couple comments on player ratings: the "potential" comments sound like the sort of hype that a huckster scout would say about a HS star. From my own coaches, i'd expect a measured comment on the actual potential and current strengths, then a pitiless assessment of the player's weaknesses. Also, the level of praise should be pitched toward the general level of talent in the team's conference. A fairly good player in the SEC or Big Ten might get a mediocre review, while in the Sun Belt he's hot stuff. There's just as much info on opponents as there is on my own team; i'd suggest something like this: a 100-pt scale for my own players; a 20-pt scale for in-conference opponents; a 10-pt scale for all others. If i nitpick, it's only because this already looks like a terrific game and -- well, sports fans always want perfection, you know. Seriously, this game looks awesome. Thanks for your hard work and patience!

Good comments let me see if I can address a couple. I don't think there will be a utility for boxscores, sounds like a good mod idea for someone :). The reason for closing the player card is because they are in HTML and can't be done with a back arrow. The play diagrams are accurate, Arlie will probably see this and make changes if necessary. What is your OC's favored type of offense? I'll take a look at the rest of your comment. The TO's are an art unto themselves, the play clock stops but necessary on the play you are on, the length of time will be altered, if your player is inbound then 25-35 sec. is possible but what happens on the next play? Option to rest starters has been suggested by others, no word from Arlie on that one. The comments are taken from quotes used by actual scouts to describe players. I don't agree with the per conference review it allows for measured response based on an ever-changing universe, that is conference strengths change, the players are rated against all others on a similar scale across the board. Now I will say this, I would like to see certain info. hidden on opponent rosters like strengths, weaknesses, ratings. And we do appreciate the words. Arlie's heard worse from the testers.
What is your OC's favored type of offense? I'll take a look at the rest of your comment.
I was using Run & Gun.
The TO's are an art unto themselves, the play clock stops but necessary on the play you are on, the length of time will be altered, if your player is inbound then 25-35 sec. is possible but what happens on the next play?
I've been calling the TO when the PBP is done, but before it's time to call the new defense; when the clock/down&distance updates, i see 30 seconds have run off. It's not so straightforward as that, huh? Then I hope it gets a thorough treatment in the manual; in the meantime, i'll do some experimenting.
And we do appreciate the words. Arlie's heard worse from the testers.
Ha! You should have heard me when i was playing TCY . . . which i continued to enjoy, nonetheless. Can't wait until i can start playing multiple seasons.
When i call up a boxscore, click on a player to view his card, i can't get back to the boxscore; i have to close it all out and call up the stats all over again.
If you right-click, you'll have a "back" option pop up.

One more: is there a way to access the $ snaps from inside the game, or can some kind of link be added to allow this? This can come into play when injuries start to wreck the depth chart. "DE Olindo Upshaw is currently battling an injury to his Other (Heat Stroke)." I hate it when my Other hurts! :D
