These threads pop-up every so often, and ya.....

People who likely want to make mods already are (ahem). I doubt you posting will finally convince someone to do the weeks and weeks (likely more) of work that the above undertaking would have.

I've put a lot of time into my mod, and I'm sure the other mods out there (not sure which ones are still going) are made by people who put a lot of effort into them. However, making a gigantic "include everything" mod is A) Impossible B) Never going to happen for many reasons:

1. Simply time put in. For a hobby, it would literally be a full-time never-ending job for someone. Is that really going to happen? Hell in Ontario alone I could list over 20 promotions that somewhat actively promote and over 200-300 workers I'd imagine. If thats the same for every region you already have 120 promotions and 1500 workers. And while I think maybe the promotion number is a little high vs reality, I know the worker number is WAY low. Especially if you start including guys who arnt activley week-in-week-out involved in wrestling (eg. Goldberg, Rock). Now Canada is SMALL. If you assume most states in America have 5-10 promotions and 150-200 workers, those numbers get big really fast.

2. It will never sim properly or be accurate by any means. What are the stats of The Blue Jabroni? (yes thats a real wrestler). When was he born? Who are his friends? Whats his personality like. What should his stats look like? Is he big or small? Anyone know? Now he wrestled for UWA Hardcore Wrestling up here in Ontario which was a fairly big promotion so info might be out their on him (at least a handful of his matches) but what about a guy from Apocalypse Pro in Arkansas named Al Rizer (I made that up). Good luck,

If you want to CW cuts, go right ahead! Would love that. The only way mods get big is a slow build, it wont happen overnight. If someone were to start working today on this project (from scratch, one wouldnt want to just steal others work and slap it together and shout "ta-da!" would they?) They would have a mod about the size of mine after months of work. My mod is the size it is because of limitations of information and personal-knowledge of workers. I cant really add Mexican promotions cause I dont know a thing about them. And I've been trying to get someone to help me with that since maybe the 3rd or 4th update and no one has even stepped up to that plate, let alone creating everything themselves.

I can honestly say the numbers listed above are extremely low compared to the existing feds and workers in North Carolina which has 75 active promotions and several thousand workers.

It also seems to be a popular retirement or slow down spot for older and out of work wrestlers as we have the Barbarian, the Koloffs, the Maestro, Lodi and numerous others from old NWA enhancement talent to major draws scattered throughout the state in various stages of their careers.

The area is also home to actives such as Ric Flair, the Hardys, Shannon Moore, the Hurricane and R-Truth to name a few.

Not to mention that due to regulation in Virginia and South Carolina the wrestlers from those two states flood the area with even more workers since we aren't regulated here.

You could call this a hotbed but there are also other larger states with just as many if not more that fit in those same categories.

So if you added all the NC promotions you would have a full game's worth in the Mid-Atlantic and that's not counting those from the other states in the area.

I agree those numbers are way too conservative. Of course, if you already have the workers made, you could just add the most popular promotions as active and use the rest as future promotions (unless you're purposefully making your mod with the idea of focusing on that region), but even doing that I doubt you could reduce the number of promotions that low.

NC is much like the Tri-City area and SoCal, a wrestling hotbed. The only reason those latter areas don't get as much coverage as the former is that they don't have an informative website like DoI and there are fewer venues for a non-resident to see the workers there do their stuff, making the information gathering portion of mod making harder. I could make a mod with the 11 Pacific Northwest promotions, but I doubt anyone else here at GDS could. The information simply isn't there for someone not from this region to do it without at least consulting me on it (probably because I'm the only one who gives a damn about PNW wrestling :p). That difficulty is why you see most real world mod makers just add the most well known/popular promotions talked about on smark boards and fill the free agency with well known workers from the 80's and 90's (and as time goes on, the cast offs of those internet darling promotions). It's much easier to get information on someone like The Rock or Goldberg than someone like The Iron Buddah, Psydsho, or JD Mason (all local talent up here), and it's much easier to get information about IWA-MS than it is to get it on DOA Pro Wrestling.

That said, I disagree with what Mr. Canada's second point. Especially with the tools given in the editor, it wouldn't be impossible to add a promotion like DOA to your mod even without my help if you're willing to give up some legitimacy and work to get the basic information you need. You don't need to know where a worker was born, his relationships, or his personality to add them to your database, just a general idea of the workers size, general age, style, and level of talent. It wouldn't be as good as having an intimate knowledge of the wrestler, but how many people are going to know or care? even if someone here did know your information was incorrect on a point, they are more likely to post (a) correction(s) in your mods thread than anything, because at the end of the day, we like seeing "our region" represented in a mod.

Wow...someone has definitely put themselves in the running for 2010 Douche Bag of the year...

So let me get this straight: MrC has put out a very decent, very playable, and very popular real world mod on his own - dedicating his time and effort for little to nothing in return - and has actually managed to update it regularly FOR MONTHS ON END (all the while putting up with the little arguments and debates over stats, hirings, firings, brands, etc) and you have the nerve to badmouth it??? Because you think it's too "small"?

And who are you exactly? Because obviously you must be some kind of genius with an encyclopedic knowledge of wrestling to deliver on this grand promise. But I couldn't tell since you've been on these boards for about a month, you've made all of what..10 posts...and almost all the posts are poorly spelled, have tons of grammatical errors and you've basically been a jerk when people disagree with you.

So yeah..I'm totally sure YOUR mod is going to be the best mod ever.

All he said was that your idea is unrealistic based on the amount of time and effort it would require. And then two other people agreed.

I stand by my statement:

I've downloaded, played, and simmed through years in MrC's mod. I see no real problems with it.

Based on your posts and your comments about the game, I seriously doubt you could do anything even close to being as good. And definitely not anything better.

well if i cant find someone that is doing a mod then i'll do it myself if anyone can help with info on promotions and workers in there area it would be well appr............and i promise it will be better than MrCanada small mod.......

I'll tell you straight off the game isn't designed to hold 75 feds in one lone area like you would need for North Carolina much less every other state, region and country.

In theory it can hold every fed but the effects on load times between days much less weeks would be astronomical.

Just merge a few of the existing real world mods with different smaller feds and indy workers and see what you get and then let everyone know what you find out on playability before you start dissing on something that is well liked and obviously well done.

(Personally, I don't play real world mods but thats just me)

Personally, I would love to see a mod like you propose. Not having everything is why I don't play real world mods. But I also know you can only add so much before the load times affect playability.

Truth be told I would suggest getting involved with a mod that someone has in the works. Then you'll get more familiarity with mod making, maybe make some friends in here, be a part of the community and get better responses and even some support (help) from the people that you worked with and/or have seen the work you do.

That's cool but you do get better responses/feedback when you're active in here and even more when you join an existing mod and show off your work.

Well personally I love the idea to have another Mod for TEW 10. The MrCanada one is god, without a doubt. But competition is good for business and actually there are a lot of things who could be worked out at the MrCanada Mod for example adding CHIKARA to the Game World. There where a lot of perfect Mods for older TEW's and I think it's a good idea to have more Mods on here, so they can push each other to make it even better <img alt=";)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/wink.png.686f06e511ee1fbf6bdc7d82f6831e53.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />
