Micky Starr set to leave SWF

Wrestle-sonic.com has just learnt that current SWF legend Micky Starr has told Richard Eisen of his intentions to leave the Supreme Wrestling Federation. Eisen is said to be furious about Starr’s decision. The general feeling backstage is while losing Starr is a massive loss, the SWF will not feel the effects of Starr’s absence for very long. Starr has been feeling burnt out of the past few years and slowly been withdrawing from actively participating at Supreme. The major worry for the SWF now is who will replace Starr and more importantly, will Starr end up working with Sam Strong at Hollyweird Grappling Company?

While the move wasn’t a complete shock for many people in the business it was still considered as rubbing salt into the wound of the Supreme Wrestling Federation. After less than two weeks since announcing he was burnt out and wanting a break from wrestling Starr will join his protégé, Sam Strong at Hollyweird. It’s believed that Starr has signed a long term six figure contract. This marks the first since the SWF glory days that the magic three wrestlers of the 80’s- Micky Starr, Sam Strong and Rip Chord are all working in the same promotion at the same time. </p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><p> </p><span>http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v107/bretter_person/HGC/HGC.jpg</span><p> </p><p> <span>http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v107/bretter_person/HGC/MickyStarr.jpg</span><span>http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v107/bretter_person/HGC/SamStrong_alt.jpg</span><span>http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v107/bretter_person/HGC/RipChord.jpg</span></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p></div></blockquote>

Leaving the Supreme Wrestling Federation wasn’t a very hard decision. For years I’d been the number one star, held multiple championships and truly reigned Supreme. I helped lead Richard Eisen and his Supreme Wrestling Federation to the top of the wrestling world. I'd carried the entire North American wrestling scene on my shoulders during the late 70’s and early 80’s. Off my blood, sweat and tears Richard Eisen made millions and what thanks did I get? Without me the Supreme Wrestling Federation would never have got off the ground. What thanks did Micky Starr get? None, that’s what, once I retired and took a job behind the scenes I became Micky ‘outdated’ Starr.

There was only one problem with that, I wasn’t outdated. I wasn’t pushing to go back to the old ways. There I was, wrestling legend, over 20 years in the business and getting ignored. Snotty little TV writers were brought in to create shows. Those little bastards had no idea how to work with a wrestling promotion. No idea that there were endless possibilities and countless directions that wrestling storytelling could go. Soon Supreme was a shell of its former self. Supreme was hanging on to a few guys that were popular while the rest became stagnant. I should have been leading that company from behind the scenes. Hell, most of my ideas were successful. Letting Rory McCallum become the crazy Scotsman has worked for over 10 years, which originally was my idea. Let’s not forget the fact that I found and trained the man that is professional wrestling in North America. There was only one man more synonymous with Supreme than me and that was my protégé, Sam Strong.

There’s not much that hasn’t been said about Sam Strong. From the moment he stood into that gym I knew there was something there. There was something about him that stood out, he had that certain ‘it’ about him. Sam reached for the sky and made it to dizzying heights that no one ever thought possible. Guiding Sam to those heights was one of the more satisfying things I’ve done in my career. It was satisfying to know that I’d taken not only myself to the top of the wrestling world, but Sam had gone to the top too. There was a time there in the mid 80’s where we were on top of the wrestling world together. We teamed together for some classic tag team matches during ’85 and I’d worked my way back to the SWF World Heavyweight championship. Times were good for Micky Starr. I lost the SWF World Heavyweight championship during ’85 to Rip Chord. Rip would then go on to lose to Sam. Rip was the perfect nemesis for guys like me and Sam. He had the right mixture of arrogance and low morals that played off our upstanding good guy act. Guys like Sam Strong and me had to stay true to our morals and play fair. Rip never has those limitations, he could follow his own rules to hold onto that SWF World Heavyweight title. The three of us ruled the 80’s. Those days were probably the best in the SWF main event scene.

The SWF had fallen far and hard since those glory days. When young J.K Stallings came calling with a job offer to work with Rip and Sam again there was never any doubt in my mind that I’d be leaving the safety of Supreme and moving back into the real wrestling world. Stallings offered complete control of the way Hollyweird is run. I had complete control over the destiny of the newest wrestling promotion in the world. There hasn’t been a viable threat to Supreme since its inception in the 70’s. Stallings had the money and passion to open a viable threat to Supreme. He doesn’t have the know-how or contacts to keep the promotion running long term, this is where I come in. With Stallings financially backing Hollyweird and the three of us working together I can only believe that Hollyweird can topple Supreme. With the right formula and a bit of luck Hollyweird will overtake Supreme and bring Richard Eisen to his knees. Whether or not Hollyweird can deliver the death blow, time will tell...

We’ve also been running house shows throughout the month. The house shows were run to establish some momentum and get rid of the ring rust that some of the roster has built up. <strong>There’d been some standouts, BLZ Bubb and Liberty for example</strong>. Both had been pushed through the moon during HGC’s debut month. Liberty had a shock win over Rip Chord on the second Hollyweird TV show. BLZ Bubb had dominated all opponents in his way and was a firm favourite to become the first HGC World Heavyweight champion. There had also been some wrestlers that didn’t live to expectations. Paul Steadyfast, Cowboy Ricky Dale and Giant Redwood in particular hadn’t really picked up any steam during the first month.</p><p> </p><p> During the first month of HGC television tapings there had been no champions crowned. J.K Stallings wanted to wait till the debut HGC PPV to crown champions. We've got 5 championship titles in HGC and at <strong>Malice in Wonderland all HGC championship titles will be up for grabs.</strong></p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><p> </p><span>http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v107/bretter_person/HGC/Generic_WorldHeavy05.jpg</span><p> <strong>HGC World Heavyweight Title:</strong></p><p> Vacant</p><p> </p><p> <span>http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v107/bretter_person/HGC/Generic_American.jpg</span></p><p> <strong>HGC American Title:</strong></p><p> Vacant</p><p> </p><p> <span>http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v107/bretter_person/HGC/Generic_Tag05.jpg</span></p><p> <strong>HGC World Tag Team Titles: </strong></p><p> Vacant</p><p> </p><p> <span>http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v107/bretter_person/HGC/TCW_Hardcore.jpg</span></p><p> <strong>HGC Hardcore Title:</strong></p><p> Vacant</p><p> </p><p> <span>http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v107/bretter_person/HGC/MAXFreeStyle.jpg</span></p><p> <strong>HGC Free Style Title:</strong></p><p><strong> </strong>Vacant</p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> We had a little less than a month to build to <strong>Malice in Wonderland</strong>. There was a relaxed and almost calming feeling in the backstage area, that might be because Giant Redwood and Peter Valentine were off at the catering table stuffing their faces and not paying attention to anything that was going on around them. I briefed everyone on what was going on during the show and where everyone would be required to be at certain points during the show. We were going head to head with SWF Supreme TV. That was in the back of my mind, could we even put a dent in the ratings for Supreme TV?</p><p> <strong>With big plans and even bigger dreams my journey with HGC to the top of the wrestling world starts tonight.</strong></p><p> </p><p> <em><span style="font-size:8px;">Credit to ReapeR for the title pictures.
