Absent Minded Actions (Epic Fails)

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

I have just accidentally deleted an NYCW game that I have been playing for a good few months, while talking to the missus I tried to load the game but inadvertently deleted instead (epic fail). I was wondering what major mistakes people have made when playing the game.

P.S. Does anyone know if it is possible for me to get this game back, I am pretty gutted about it. :)

Cheers

Fox

I've never deleted a save by mistake - sorry to hear about that. I can only imagine the depression I would sink into if my 2022 MAW-WCW game was somehow deleted. I'd go insane. I'm not even afraid to admit that... I would go insane over losing that save game. <img alt=":o" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/redface.png.900245280682ef18c5d82399a93c5827.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

I have overwrote a save game folder with an older copy of the save. This happened when transferring license / files between a laptop and desktop. I ended up losing 2-3 months because of it. It was a hassle to go back and re-do those months, but it was fairly easy because I had everything written down in my handy dandy notebook. I literally had to go back and plug stuff in and that was that. <img alt="" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/cool.png.f00d2562b2c1d873a09323753efdb041.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

Every time I go to delete a test save or an old, unplayed game I get ridiculously paranoid that I'm going to accidentally delete my diary game or my Summit Wrestling (0/0/0) game.

Every Time I go into delete a save I always am really careful about which one I am deleting, I have three games going right now one with NOTBPW one with USPW (Both aren't very far in) and my CGC Game for my dynasty which is at the top of the list, Every time I go into delete a game I am extremely careful that I don't select my CGC game by mistake and delete it because that would really piss me off 30 pages of a dynasty thrown down the toilet because I would have done something stupid. I would hate myself for a while if I did that.

Yeah that would suck, I actually never deleted my CGC Save but my computer had to be wiped around the time I started it. Luckily I was only about two monthes into the game so I was able to recreate all the shows I had already done easily. If it would have been any more than four monthes than I probably wouldn't have done it but two monthes was acceptable in my book.

Ouuuuuuuch. That sucks.

I have two big fails.

The first was not running the game in administration mode the first time I had a shot at making a database, meaning I had to recreate 60 odd profiles for the mod, that wasn't fun at all.

The second was during a 0/0/0/0 game based in Japan. I'd built up for months to a big blow off match where the face challenger finally toppled the heel champion. My next show...I accidentally booked the wrong person to win what was supposed to be his first title defence.

I have a backup savegame just in case, I am also very paranoid about accidentaly deleting my diary game.

Maybe a good idea for future TEWs:

Make the deleting screen look COMPLETELY DIFFERENT than the loading screen. <img alt=";)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/wink.png.686f06e511ee1fbf6bdc7d82f6831e53.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

I deleted my RAW game that was my first in 2010. Made it just over a year, was just turning the corner with finances.... <img alt=":(" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/frown.png.e6b571745a30fe6a6f2e918994141a47.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

I LOVED that game, can't believe I screwed that up. Accidentally replaced it with an older copy that was only a month in. So... at least if I want to I can redo it all someday.

Oh well, life goes on. Led to me putting in so much time with APWF, and now I'm gonna go play with some MPWF. Lotta "PWFs..."

There is no conceivable way this could be a good idea that's already in! <img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png">

Seriously though... it's been a long time since I've accidentally deleted a save, but I've done it a few times in the past. The worrying thing is, I'm fairly sure I've made my fair share of AMA's in the past but I can't actually think of any. Most times when things have gone wrong I've noticed it mid-show and been able to fix it. Though I know I've picked the wrong winner a few times, but never with distasterous results yet. Maybe soon. <img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png">

An AMA that has killed a number of games for me is forgetting to reschedule an crucial event while playing as a small or regional sized company. So often I'll play a game where literally only one day in the month will do due to a highly diverse roster and I'll mess it up by having the event on the wrong day. The worse of this is normally when someone has been snatched up by a developmental contract and is leaving forever, so you can't make up for it.

I've been lucky I guess, and haven't deleted a game or anything like that, most of my accidental fails come in the form of hitting the Exit button instead of Save, or the Auto Set Product button instead of Analysis. That and accidentally setting one-half of my tag team champions to be the colour commentator, (instead of the guy intended to take that spot), things like that, have been my worst ones.

Not exactly accidental, nor is it exclusive to...well, I don't think I *haven't* done this.

Especially with PPA deals, I'll sign pretty much everyone that I think would fit into what I want in the product. BSC?

HOLY CRAP MY ROSTER HAS 101 GIRLS (I think)!

Uh...wow. Uh...

Anyway, I don't use all of them; my rule this time is if I haven't used them in a match yet, I won't re-sign.

My point is that occasionally I get WAYYYY too many cash drains or WAYYYY too many people with higher-than-usual pay. Which runs me out of business with anything that doesn't have a TV slot (and some that do).

Heh, let's look at my BHOTWG file and see how many guys I have (oh god tours):

National size. 102 people.

Let's recap. BSC? Small. 101 people.

BHOTWG. National. 102 people.

EDIT: OH GOD IT'S GETTING WORSE BSC IS HIRING MORE WOMEN WHYYYYYY

...

Side-note: Am I the only one who doesn't auto-save and always restarts to hire someone (if I want them/if possible)? Or, better, who resets until they get their show to be a "success"?

In my 0/0/0/0 INSPIRE game I once ran INSPIRE Apologise For The Inconvenience after I accidentally ran a show in the wrong area, thus throwing out my schedule and meaking that a given area might start getting pop decline due to nonattendance.

Fortunately for the past 8 or 9 months my core regions have been popular enough I've been able to introduce PPV, meaning it's not the end of the world anymore.

Oh my god advance booking. The very reason I switch off 'advance bookings cannot be deleted' is because I screw those up SO many times.

If I get to name the PPVs (I don't usually change the names of PPVs that already exist) I merely name them <Company> Janurary or make them in alphabetical order.

If they are already made? I ALWAYS (try to) make a note on the order of the PPVs. That way I can check when I advance book during a show. So happy, at least, that the AB page off-show has the schedule there.
