Recent History

Behind The Scenes

The date is December 1st, 1997. WCW is the world leader in professional wrestling and has been for over a year. WCW Nitro has beaten WWF RAW the past 64 weeks in a row. Despite World Championship Wrestling being the #1 promotion, WCW is being outdone in several markets, including Canada. WCW is just now regaining television coverage in the land of the maple leaf; that and the recent acquisition of Bret Hart is sure to be a dynamite combination. There have been rumors of a second A-show to debut on WTBS as soon as January. These rumors have drawn criticism, mostly out of fear of burning the creative minds out.

Rumor has been that, despite the confidence of Ted Turner in Eric Bischoff, Turner has been slowly shifting the creative process to a larger creative panel. The word is that the process will be headed by someone already involved in the process, rumored to be either Kevin Sullivan or Dusty Rhodes, a fresh face, and of course Eric Bischoff.

Raven has been in WCW since June and has been building his Flock. He also just recently 'signed his contract'.

Bill Goldberg is not yet the monster we all remember. He debuted in September and stands at about a 13-0 record.

Syxx-Pac was put on the shelf recently with a neck injury.

December 1997 - Week 1 - Monday

WCW is rumored to be about to make roster cuts. Filling World War 3 with 60 men is no easy task and is likely the reason the cuts have been held off.

The WCW announce booth may be about to be revamped. Not sure to what degree.

The Larry Zbyszko/nWo feud has spilled off screen and has turned ugly with Zbyszko and a big name or two in the company. This is most likely the reason for his removal from the booth.
