Master League Wrestling - Year One

Recommended Posts

Hello guys, I'm going to do a Dynasty off of my modified Default Universe. Here is the premise for the ML:

The Master League (ML) is considered by many the pinnacle of Professional Wrestling. The wrestling promotion that spans nearly 60 years, with it's roots in a Territory system that transformed into the Global entity that is know all over the world today. Every superstar of Professional Wrestling has competed in the ML, but only a select group of legendary wrestlers have held any of the World Titles. The current ML format wasn't realized until 1998, as the ML moved from a Regular schedule to a Touring "season" with a mid-tour break, spanning a total of 8 months, and a ranking system for all titles.

The ML uses a modified Default Cornellverse, the only changes are added content, not workers. The schedule runs in two half seasons, it goes from January to April, then takes a month off, then continues for the second portion of the season, from June to September.

There are four major PPV events, both have two major shows, the 2nd major show of the promotion is in April, which is one of the most dangerous shows of the year, the Battleground PPV. The biggest PPV Event of the calendar year, in September, which is the Ground Zero event.

The EOTY Awards are another special event, that is held a couple weeks after the final show of the year, in November. This show is a special extravaganza, where 2,000-4,000 fans attend for the special ceremony. A lot of important, and noteworthy, happenings have occurred, from the memorable retirement ceremonies of Bret Love, Stunning Steve, and Rip Chord. To the Hall of Immortals-sponsored, EOTY ceremony, where the 2008 and 2009 HoI's were welcomed into the hallowed doors in front of a sold out crowd of 4,678 screaming fans. Even story lines were started on this event, on occasion. The EOTY Awards are truly the farewell to a great year of ML action!

There are also three hour cable major event shows. These shows are three hours shows that happens in place of PPV events, they are shows specifically for the fans. They are held in between long periods without a PPV event, the months are February and March for the first portion of the season, with July and August being in the final part of the season.

The first main PPV's are January's Ultimate Survivor, in which all titles will be fought in Championship Frenzy Matches to determine the season beginning champions, the Championship Frenzy Matches are elimination matches in which two men start, every 2 minutes another man enters. There are no pins, or submissions, allowed until the final man enters the ring. Then 10 minutes are allotted, there are No Disqualifications, and the person who could score the pin, or submission, wins the respective title. The only difference between the singles titles and the tag team titles are that the team matches are under tornado rules, and if one team scores a pinfall, or submission, that team is eliminated from the match.

Second is the 1st leg of the season-ending, Battleground event, in this match there are two rings, and a demonic steel structure surrounding them. Two men starts the match, then every 2 minutes another man enters into the structure, until all six competitors are in, then it's single elimination until there is one last survivor.

The Third major PPV of the ML calendar year is Mayhem, this show is in the beginning of the 2nd part of the season, in June. This PPV sets up for the Ground Zero event as the winner gets a automatic shot at the World Title in September. In this match, two men start, every 2 minutes another entrant enters, this goes on until 40 men have entered the ring. The eliminations can occur by being thrown over the top rope and there's no Disqualifications.

The final major PPV is the Ground Zero event, the Superbowl of professional wrestling. This is where the ML season comes to an end, where feuds are settled, or where feuds begin. It is the most watched, and most star-studded event of the calendar year.

I hope that this informs you on the ML, I will keep you posted on Tour signings and other news throughout the season.

Since you guys wanted pictures... UPDATED Title Info!!!

The ML grouping works fairly simply. Every year the list of Superstars involved in the ML, either be it by a written contract or a touring contract, will go into a large pool. A month before the season begins, the Superstars are split up into two groups, simply enough named, Group A and Group B.

Group A performs in the Monday Night Shows, while Group B performs in the Wednesday Night Shows. The Commissioner of Group A this year will be Chris Joseph, while the Commissioner of Group B this year will be Mark Stevens. But this usually changes from year to year, this was also put in effect by the CEO, and Group A Commissioner, Chris Joseph. He also mandated to have it change from year to year, so it will always change from year to year.

The title scene will go in this manner:

http://i591.photobucket.com/albums/ss359/pjlx911/MLGrpA.jpg

Group A:

http://i591.photobucket.com/albums/ss359/pjlx911/MLICTitle.jpghttp://i591.photobucket.com/albums/ss359/pjlx911/MLWorldTitle.jpg

Intercontinental Championship -> World Championship

http://i591.photobucket.com/albums/ss359/pjlx911/MLGrpB.jpg

Group B:

http://i591.photobucket.com/albums/ss359/pjlx911/MLInternationalTitle.jpghttp://i591.photobucket.com/albums/ss359/pjlx911/MLWorldTitle.jpg

International Championship -> World Championship

Tag Team:

http://i591.photobucket.com/albums/ss359/pjlx911/MLTTTVTitles.jpghttp://i591.photobucket.com/albums/ss359/pjlx911/MLWorldTTTitles.jpg

TV Tag Team Championships -> World Tag Team Championships

Women's:

http://i591.photobucket.com/albums/ss359/pjlx911/MLWomensTitle.jpg

World Women's Championship

In this diagram, the secondary titles, in essence, takes the place of the World Championships of the particular group. The Intercontinental Championship is the World Title of Group A while the International Championship is the World Championship of Group B. All while the the World Championship is the main title that both group champions are aiming for.

In essence, the group champions are the #1 Contenders for the World Championship, which is what basically happens sometimes. In which case, it is written that when a group champion wins a World Championship, he must forfeit his group championship (ML Rules and Regulations, 1998). This was due to the long reign of "Blackjack" Justin Hart, who held both the International Championship and the World Championship for an amazing 14 months. This brought on the "Blackjack" Rule and it was later written in the revised 1998 Rules and Regulations Handbook.

The only titles that are omnipresent, besides the World Championship, are the Women's and both the TV and World Tag Team Championships. The Women's Championship because of the number of ladies that works in the Division, and the TV Tag Team Titles are for the up-and-coming Stars, with the World Tag Team Titles being the titles for the established teams.

As a result of the draft, the separate groups will have their own Women's and Tag Team Rankings with the top teams/women being able to compete for the titles, which is the same for all titles.

Well, I hope this explains the title system. I will keep you posted on any news updates/ranking updates!

<p>Misc FYI Info....</p><p> </p><p>

This is just an OOC type of deal, just to let you know how I plan to run the shows.</p><p> </p><p>

Since the shows are pretty much back-to-back, I will have to do regular show events in this manner. I will first post the cards for both shows a couple of days out. In which, I'll let you talk it over and place your bets.</p><p> </p><p>

The shows will follow this format:</p><p> </p><p>

Match 1 results</p><p>

Match 2 results</p><p>

Match 3 results</p><p>

Match 4 results</p><p>

Match 5 results</p><p> </p><p>

Show News: In this section, I will go down the happenings, in summary, of any storyline advancements, or any happenings in the shows.</p><p> </p><p>

The Special Showdown shows, will be 3 hour shows that will exchange between shows every-other month. These are the specials that will take place of the PPV in the months in between the major PPV offerings (Think Clash of the Champions type deal). These are Huge events for those months, and the only difference in the news section will be that they will basically be more in depth summaries of the event happenings.</p><p> </p><p>

I hope this clarifies what I am planning to do for show recaps, I will post when the groupings are announced!</p>
