Backstory: I was hired as Head Booker

 

Hi. My name is Trevor Belmont and as of today (Monday, Week 1, September 1989) I have been hired by Jim Crockett Promotions (owned by Ted Turner) to virtually run the National Wrestling Alliance. The end goal here is to turn our cult promotion global and take over the Number One Spot as the top promotion in the world, which Vince McMahon's World Wrestling Federation possesses.

 

I've been hired to run things MY WAY but, least we forget folks.... Ted Turner will ultimately still have the final say

The Samoan Swat Team Vs. The Dynamic Dudes

With Paul E. managing them they seem like the better bet in this match.

 

Cactus Jack Vs. Flyin' Brian Pillman

Some very tough matches to start things off with. I went with Flyin' Brian on this one because he seemed to be the more legitimate at this stage of his career.

 

The Varsity Club Vs. "Dr. Death" Steve Williams and "Hotstuff" Eddie Gilbert

Another tough match because I like 'Hotstuff' but I believe that Dr. Death is also working for another company so that works in the favor of the Varsity Club in my opinion.

No title change here but the JYD puts in a good showing.

The better of the Steiners versus the weaker of the Freebirds. Classic setup for a Steiner victory here.

I say that Funk wins but he doesn't win the title. Ric Flair interferes and causes a DQ by attacking Terry Funk as Terry moves into the NWA World title feud with Flair.
