Advice... and I guess Hype... FOR MEGAPACK III

Recommended Posts

So, I've been secretly working on the next release of random storylines from across the (mostly American) wrestling scene, and I'm making some nice progress. Two storylines that I forgot to release in MPII will eventually make their way to you (Specifically Brock/Angle-Heyman and Jericho/HBK) However, I've reached a dilema with the one storyline I was really excited about working on.

As many of you know, the feud of the year (as far as the indies goes anyway) was El Generico/Kevin Steen. However, while I've got most of the matches they had in chronological order, we have the wonderful problem of ROH's TV Tapings vs. their overlapping live events. Essentially, Online World Of Wrestling has given me the dates when the shows were taped, but NOT the dates the episodes were to be shown. In my mind, there are three things I could do:

1.) Ignore the TV tapings entirely and only focus on the major points of the fued. I really DON'T want to do this. Quite abit of the feud executed on television. However, taking TV out of the equation would make the storyline simpler, so that people who'd like to apply it to a smaller, 1 show per month fed would be just as able to enjoy their former partners feud like a fed with far too many shows a year would *cough*ROH*cough*.

2.) Ignore the "B" shows. This would be me just keeping up with the television matches and "A" shows (Such as the Big Bang and the 8th Anniversary show). This would make the feud more accessible to say a Sports Entertainment fed, or a touring company with multiple events, but I don't think it would be an acurate representation of the feud.

3.) Keep the order as is. This is the one i'm leaning towards, but I'd like some feedback. Keeping things as is would mean all the matches and angles from the TV tapings would all lumped together, with B-shows scattered about till the A show finishes out the arc. The problem again is accuracy. Some of the angles filmed seemed to be in anticipation of their air-date, so things may not be as accurate as I'd like.

Bonus.) I could buck up and just search the net until I get everything in order. But that would take a long time. And... I really don't want to.

So there's my problem, and I'd love some advice from the Greydog mod making family on how I should continue. One way or another, it's going in. But I want it to be as fun to simulate as it was to watch.

Oh, and as a treat for those who may be excited for another storyline pack, heres a breif list of the Storylines already completed. You'll notice I'm a lot more indy heavy! I've found a few sites to help with that!

Alex Shelly/Austin Aries-Generation Next feud in ROH (Post FB 2004)

Tyler Black/Austin Aries-(based soley on the televised feud. Option 2 for the Generico/Steen feud. Came out okay.)

Tyler Black's road to redemption and feud with Jerry Lynn in AAW.

Lince Dorado/Eddie Kingston from CHIKARA

Brodie Lee/Claudio Castagnoli from CHIKARA (Loved that one)

Jimmy Jacobs/Jon Moxely from Dragon Gate:USA (Not sure I like it)

Bobby Lashley/Ken Doane's feud over the OVW Television title.

Kurt Angle/Desmond Wolfe from TNA.

Team 3D/LAX from TNA

AJ's first NWA reign (Again. I never like how it comes out:()

Chris Benoit/Raven/DDP feud in WCW (I may rewrite it later)

Sheamus/Goldust from WWE's ECW

Sheamus/Shelton Benjamin from WWE's ECW

Kofi Kingston/Shelton Benjamin from WWE's ECW

CM Punk/Rey Mysterio from WWE

Jericho/HBK from WWE

Chuck Palumbo/Jamie Noble from WWE.

And others....

Not sure when I'll be finished. I'll probably make an official hype thread later with the first 50 requests or something rounding out the pack. So... yeah. Any advice would be appreciated.

Just want to say I'm super excited for the new Storyline pack. I love and use your packs most all the time.

As for the Steen/Generico problem: I don't know how much extra work it would be, or if it would even make sense to do, but perhaps include options 1 and 2 as different versions of the feud? This would allow the smaller AND bigger company viable options for playing out the feud. Even though option 3 makes the most sense in terms of accuracy, it sounds like it would be too big of a clusterfudge for anyone not using a bloated ROH-esque schedule. Just my thoughts on the matter anyway.

Looking forward to this with great anticipation. :)

I'm surprised something akin to the "Raven's Flock" angle (at least the formation of it and perhaps the Kidman and Saturn leaving parts) have not been created, or even the "Raven's Nest" stuff from ECW focusing on the Raven/Sandman feud and the Raven/Dreamer feud. The stable formation angles in currently in seem to focus on NWO and to some extent The Four Horsemen. Some variant of D-X, if I recall, is in there too.

The introduction of "The Devil's Rejects" in NWA Anarchy might be another stable. Though, I would recommend some of the Wildside era feuds over the Anarchy ones. However, it might be nice to put some sort of variation in of the feud between Ace Rockwell and Truitt Fields (that was actually leading up to Truitt's final match in Anarchy and perhaps wrestling, sadly).

As for Steen/Generico, I'd go with option 1 but add in any ultra important events that were specific to the TV tapings.

I tried the ECW stuff, it's a bit too big and tricky because before even getting into The Sandman side of things (which is tricky in that it involves a 7 year old) you pretty much have Raven, Stevie Richards, Blue Meanie, Tommy Dreamer, Beulah, Kimona, Shane Douglas, The Pitbulls, Bruise Brothers, Brian Lee, Terry Gordy and Cactus Jack all getting involved. Obviously not all at once and not all are major roles but it's still a pretty huge undertaking.

You could do a few storylines and angles based off a lot of the Raven stuff in ECW but changes would have to be made. However, you're right that it'd be too big and tricky unless broken down into smaller bits. I was talking about the basic debut of Raven in ECW (Richards building him based on the Johnny Polo rep then he comes in as Raven. Introduction of Beulah. General angles involved with the feud with Tommy or Sandman that could set up an open storyline. However, doing it as a straight set storyline would be too tricky. I don't know how all the members of The Nest joined up but I do sorta recall it not being as nice and neat as The Flock formation.

If I had a reliable website that listed what happened when, ECW storylines would be included. Unfortunatly, I haven't been able to find a site that gives all the angles as well as the match listings. Nor am I familiar enough with the storylines to recreate them from memory (I was in still in middleschool when ECW was in it's heyday, fell out of wrestling due to Angle/Austin, and I didn't really get back into wrestling till the Orton/Evolution feud.)

If someone knows a good ECW site I'd be glad to include them though.

Also, as of right now, I've buckled down and have finally tracked down every angle from the televised feud, so I'm using a modified 3 right now. I might make a second edition (which would be be represented as ROHdnet) if theres a clamor for simplicity.

Hey Sonfaro

Can I make a request? CAn you do a version that does not have all the original storylines in it. makes it much easier for those of us who have used your great pack before. I renamed all the stoylines in my game to make it easier to find and I really do not want to go through and figure out which ones I have already.

If you just set it up as a new database, and import it into whatever base you are using, it'll exclude storylines/angles you already have.

And that would be a great option if the guy hadn't renamed stuff. Thus leading the game to not know his versions are copies of what the mod's trying to give him.

HAHA, fair enough. Suppose it'd help if I read the whole post. I'll just chalk it up to me being overly tired. Disregard my last posting then! :)

You mean like just an angle pack? Probably.

It'll be a while though. Trying to get a place in NY right now. Really stressful.

EDIT: Wait. The new pack will have completely new storylines (with the exception of AJ's first title run), so it shouldn't be a problem.
