How to Bankrupt/TakeOver a Promotion?

Recommended Posts

1)Right, So, The title basically says it all. How would you go about bankrupting a rival promotion? I've ran many tests before such as dropping popularity in all areas, prestige and setting cash to -9999999. I'm sure this would eventually put them out a business but what would you need to do to Take-Over the promotion? I attempted to do this and got 'they are not interested in selling up'. So, I ran another test, changing the personality of the owner, still having the promotion at 0 Popularity and etc, only to get the same response. Are there certain stats that need to be changed?

2)But, In a normal game, I signed a working agreement with TCW, loaning them a couple of main eventers, eventually dropping SWF to Cult. Is there much you can do at this point? Other than the dirty tactics, which are not always guaranteed to work. Even at national-global, What can you do other than roster raids? Usually there are three promotions at national - global, enabling a National War which is my primary method of dropping a promotion to cult. Like I said before, Can you do much at this point? SWF was Cult for about 2 months before jumping back to global.

I honestly don't know. I played the east coast wars with RPW and was a super popular Cult fed and had a roster composed of everyone that used to work for the other 3 feds but in TEW I've never seen feds die, they just become regional cash cows.

The same could be said with the '77 mod and all the territories

Dunno if you know this but you have to wait about six months of them being in these poor situations for it to take effect in them closing up, and they MUST be losing money at the time I believe. So if TCW you want to close put tommy on 10m P.P.A contract and at cult I got them closed down, not sure about SWF, maybe give Christian Faith a 10m PPA on a 20 year deal and set SWF to cult?

Oh, Right. Glad to know I am not the only unsure of how to go about this situation. Thanks for the quick reply. :D

Thanks for the advice. I'll definitely try this.

In my NOTBPW game, currently in March 2011, Exodus 2010 went under, its funny because before they went under I attempted to buy them out and they accepted and instead of clicking on disband which I normally do I took them on as a development company. Unfortunately it didn't help them for long because they went backrupt about six monthes later.

Regarding this, it would be nice if there was an option to give funds over to your child promotions. When you take over a struggling promotion, you pay off their debts but they still may not be in a position to make money. I typically use the editor to add in some money to the child promotion, and edit the same amount out of my promotion. Same effect, but roundabout.

Hm, Well this is interesting. I have been able to buy out promotions like Exodus 2010 and such. When I wrote about taking over a company, I was referring to my attempt to take-over WCW. I was able to buy out ECW so I assumed I would change the owner's personality to that of Paul Heyman's and his business methods aswell. I was still unsuccessful. But! When I went back to the main editor, changed WCW's "Property of to 'None'" instead of Time-Warner, I was able to buy them out. Does being owned by a media group affect your chances of buying out a company?

Is it possible to change media group ownership info in an ongoing game or is it only in the database editor? WCW being owned by Turner Broadcasting is making it impossible to expand into international markets :\

I suppose you could hire all their talent to dev contracts. Then they'd run shows without having to pay their wrestlers. Should help, I think.

I could have done that but I didn't know who was on their roster before I aquired them. Once I did that I thought I could go into development and all of their workers would be there but it was blank. I didn't want to send any of my guys there because then I would have been under the ideal roster. If you think about it though a Canadian Promotion having a Japanese Promotion as its Dev. Territory doesn't make a whole lot of sense because even if I had hired the old EXODUS Roster to be in development I probably would have just let it alone because I didn't really want a bunch of Japanese Guys in a Canadian promotion because once again that wouldn't make sense.

See, I bought um, made um developmental, hired all the guys and put most of them back in EXODUS. I kept a few of the more talented ones for a Japanese stable, sent a couple of veterans off my roster who could speak Japanese down any way I could (to train others if they didn't need improving) and used it as normal as development does little for popularity anyway. But the guys I sent there improved quite quickly due to the touring exposure and the average higher top row & psych skills of Japanese workers :D
