Arlie, Option Running Game is Non-Functional

Arlie, i want to love your game. I really do. but the option offense is just dismal. I have run test after test. and With the new demo its worst than the first. 1. You added plays to go to the left, but they arent exact mirrors of the plays to the right. They should be the same exact plays with the WB getting the ball. The WB and RB shouldnt be flipped. But thats actually one of the minor things. 2. I put San Jose St. prestige to 95 just see what would happen. Had a great backfield. And a even better O-Line. And the option was hideous. Its just very very inadequate. It doesnt demostrate the option at all. the QB Never and i mean NEVER breaks a run for more than 6-7 yards. The FB is even worse and never breaks a run for more than 3 yards. The PBP for both of the players, only says one of two things for each of them. FB always has some short gain comment. the QB always "turns up field and gets next to nothing" or "finds a opeing". I have a green and blue o-line. and a Green FB and your telling me he going to avg less than 2 yards a carry. And the FB still only gets 10 carries at the most a game. The RBs have great averages, but the QB and FB are basically non-exstistant. Not real, not real, not real! And it doesnt seam like instints have anything to do with the QBs option decision. it seems like its agressiveness. Time and time again it is my QB with the highest agressiveness rating tha keeps the ball or gives it to the FB more. Next, The wrong ball carrier lights up 40-60% of the time in the Play diagram. The QB will carry it but the RBs pattern will light up. The FB will carry it but the QB will light up. And some plays dont have the the FB as an option in the play but he gets the ball. One play has the RB diagramed as the Dive man and the pitch man. And sometimes no color lights up at all no matter who gets the ball. Arlie, I like your game. And Im just giving one mans honest opinion. but if you are going to have option football in this game. Its needs to be seriously revamped to even been remotely functional. At this point there is no reason to choose the option offense because its a completely non-functional offense. We are better off just choosing to run "smash mouth". I will still purchase this game but I will probably run the Run-n-shoot instead off the option at this point. Its a huge let down. Again I am not trying to be negative or knock one mans attempt at what will still be a good game. But I figured its better to point out the flaws now. Especially when its an whole offensive system, so maybe they can be corrected before the game release.

FWIW, in the first demo as west virginia, I had a qb who's run ability was rated 79 I think, a 4 star senior, with 3 star backfield, and he was regularly breaking long runs, and averaging 150 a game over half the season. (in fact I almost posted here that its too easy to run an option with a running qb). Perhaps there are other factors/ ratings that are important to a QB running the option well.

How many games did you run? How's your OL? The option was adjusted prior to today's release as we did notice issues with FB and QB runs. But, there may be some games where it doesn't work all that well (esp against better opponents). Still, in our testing yesterday I had a QB run for 1000 yards and a FB run for 500 (different teams - but both doing the option). So, I'd keep at it and it can be a successful offense if the personnel matches.

You have to go into pstats to change the teams prestige. I will have to admit Ive never add a QB with higher than a 55 at running. Even If he was mobile QB. So maybe thats part of the problem. Ive had studs on O-line. Maybe I will run smah mouth until I recruit a major running QB and FB who can run it right. I will keep at it. I will probably buy the game over the weekend. Good job, Arlie!
