mauboy
Week 8 - #18 Texas (3-3) @ Tennessee (3-3) - Us by 5 We're still ranked, despite our three losses. I guess you could say two were losses to top 10 teams, which is a good enough reason for me to be ranked still. Tenn has struggled, like us this year, and they find themselves at .500 fighting to get back above .500. One team will come up short today though, who's it going to be? 1st Quarter On UT's third possession they got the scoring going with a field goal. Overall it's been a silly game. That scoring drive should have ended on 12 yard sack, but instead thanks to a personal foul call the drive kept going which ended up getting them a 3-0 lead. Our two drives have been AWFUL, hopefully our third drive will end up with a score too. 2nd Quarter Our third drive went into the second quarter and we looked unstoppable thanks to the legs of Barno and Matthews who ran for first down after first down, until we tried something different and Largent on a play action pass threw an interception... they didn't fall for that one, apparently. Still 3-0. Wow. What a defensive battle. We've got two minutes left in the half and we just punted it away yet again, this time to the three yard line of Tenn. Pretty much nothing has happened, we've picked off two passes in the first half, but have come up short both times. We've punted a lot. So have they. Two minutes to play til half time, lets get a safety. We don't get the safety we wanted, but we do pick up a fumble on the 29 yard line with 1:30 on the clock, so we'll get another shot to get on the board before halftime... we should be able to at least tie it up. Never mind, after gaining ten yards after a reception we fumble it back and that would be the end of the half. 3-0 Tennessee lead. Ouch. 3rd Quarter Our opening drive comes up empty handed as we come up short on 4th and Goal from the two yard line. I wanted a touchdown. I know, I'm selfish. Still 3-0. We gained a yard, so they're backed up to the 1 at least. Our offense continues to suck throughout the third quarter but it's our defense keeping us in the game by allowing us to get good field position after a punt. Right now there is a minute left in the third and we're threatening to score yet again. 30 yard line, 1st and 10. A few plays later we finally get on the board! On 1st and Goal Largent nails Forsey in the endzone for a 10 yard touchdown connection! 7-3 as we head into the final quarter. Lets see if our defense can continue their dominance. Dammmmmn. Our special teams falters as they allow them to get all the way down to our 3 yard line, where they only needed one play to score.... 10-7 as we finally head into the final quarter. Sheesh. 4th Quarter Thanfully our offense continues to look okay after that last drive, but not the offensive line as they continue to let in the defense allowing their 5th sack of the game which put us in a tight spot. A 49 yard field goal attempt. Wahle comes through with a big clutch field goal with 9 to play in the game. 10-10. Wow. Tennessee puts together a great drive, lasting nearly 8 minutes. The only problem, they only got three points, so we have a minute to get into field goal range. Can Largent lead us? It's Third and and 17 on the 29 yard line. We're facing elimination here with 30 some seconds left. Here's the announcer on this next play: "Texas in a trips formation, Largent takes the snap, a little play action and Largent rolls to the right. He looks back to the left! McCrary is wide open, sprinting down the field with no end in sight, Largent lofts it out to him! And it's caught! Only one man to beat and McCrary can't see him! Free Safety David Frazier comes flyin out of no where to knock the ball out of his hands! Madness! The ball rolls around, it's on the one yard line now and nobody has it! DELHOMME of Texas recovers! Where'd he come from? Let's check out the replay. Delhomme is an offensive lineman, how'd he get down the field so quickly!? Here! He was already celebrating, hoping to get to the receiver to hold him high but instead he was the recoverer of the ball! Wow! An amazing play! 21 seconds left after the called timeout and it will be Texas ball on the 1 yard line! They'll get a play or two to win this ball game before they have to settle for three." Matthews takes the handoff on the next play and just runs over everyone to get into the endzone! Texas wins!! What a game, folks!! 17-13 final score. Thaaaaaaaaatt waaaaaaasss crrrraaaaazzzzzyyyyy!!!!!!! Largent finishes with 317 yards, a TD and INT each. Matthews is the player of the game with 99 yards rushing and the game winning TD. That game almost gave me a heart attack. What a swing of events! mauboy
Week 10 - Baylor (2-6) @ #16 Texas (4-3) - Us by 11 After our bye week we find ourselves 4-3 and really not going in any one direction. We're still getting lots of love from the polls, so as long as we make one last big push we'll have an outside shot at making a big game. Don't count on it though. 1st Quarter The whole first quarter goes down quietly until finally we got a good drive going and settled for a short field goal to take a 3-0 lead as we head into the second quarter. So far we're outgaining them 69-48. Nothing too exciting has happened yet. 2nd Quarter Largent connects with McClary in the endzone for a touchdown to take a 9-0 lead! We missed the EP so now I get to be upset about something. Two plays later Baylor fumbled the ball and our defense(T. Todd) picked it up and ran it back 28 yards for the touchdown! We go for two and make it 17-0! Whoo! With a few minutes to go in the half we'll get another shot at some points. Our defense continues to play fantastic, not allowing 100 yards yet in the game. With 20 seconds to play, we're sitting at the 14 yard line and we go to the air again.. and it pays off as Largent connects with McClary for the second time today! 24-0! First half for Largent, 17 of 26, 217 yards, 2 TD! nice. 3rd Quarter Our defense gives up some points finally, but Matthews answers right back with a run of over 50 yards to make it 31-6! We get a FG at the end of the third quarter to make it 34-6. 4th Quarter And another field goal. 37-6. Dawsey catches Largents third touchdown pass of the game. 44-6. Dawsey gets another touchdown pass to make it 51-6. What a great game for Largent! That will be the final score. We move to 5-3 and perhaps we won't lose another game this year? We're playing a lot better now than we have ever been. mauboy
Well, without my knowing, the game crashed on its way out of it. I clicked quit and save and I left the computer and it apparently didn't save. So, I'm back to week 10 against Baylor. I'm just going to sim it until it gets results close to what I had in my previous post. It's not the end of the world, it shouldn't be too tough to get a blowout.. i hope. Nothing good has happened here at Texas for me. I think I was better suited where I wasn't in the spot light so much. Updates will still be slow to none until I graduate on Saturday next week.
