MAW OLD SCHOOL RULES CARD REVEALED!

Friday, Week 1, May 2010

MAW Old School Rules will be a massive night for Cameron Vessey, as he takes on American Patriot in the main event for the Mid Atlantic Wrestling Championship. Cameron Vessey earned this title shot with a victory over Brendan Idol in March following an unsuccessful title challenge two months prior. However, after picking up consecutive pinfall victories over American Patriot and Brendan Idol since that defeat, Cameron Vessey will be confident of winning the MAW Championship for the first time. Meanwhile, American Patriot goes into his title defence with an impressive win over Vessey’s partner, Casey Valentine, last Saturday at Americana.

The Succession will also be represented in a tag team match, as Brett Starr and Jay Chord will resume their tag team, Generation X, when they take on the team of Hugh de Aske and Nomad. Nomad shocked MAW fans when he picked up a victory over Jay Chord in his debut last Saturday, but after the match he and Hugh de Aske were beaten down in the ring by Starr and Chord. The Canadian will now team up with the Belgian, and they will be keen to get revenge over Generation X.

On the same night, homegrown Syd Collier will take on Brendan Idol, who will be looking to put himself back into the main event scene following a disappointing loss to Cameron Vessey in January. Syd Collier recently graduated from the MAW Boot Camp, and a win over somebody with the stature of Brendan Idol would be massive for him. Old School Rules will also see Findlay O’Farraday take on Kenny Clark.

MAW Old School Rules card

Findlay O’Farraday vs. Kenny Clark

Can't see anything other than FOF squashing poor old K-Squared. Kenny hasn't had much luck recently and I can't see it improving here.

Brendan Idol vs. Syd Collier

He has to get back in the running with a win here. Syd is starting out; a year or so of defeats won't him... plus, it can lead to a great feud with a midcarder once he does manage his first flash pinfall.

Generation X vs. Hugh de Aske & Nomad

As I can't see CV picking up the win in the main event, I assume Chord and Starr will win here. I think Hugh will take the fall, leaving Jay still unhappy that he was bested by Nomad last time out.

I have an unhealthy love for AmPat so that means I will rarely bet against him. Vessey did look good in his win against Brendan Idol but I just can't see him taking the strap here.

CAMERON VESSEY VS. AMERICAN PATRIOT PREVIEW

Monday, Week 4, May 2010

Ahead of this Sunday’s massive match for the Mid Atlantic Championship, MAW.com takes a look at the qualities of two competitors involved and gets predictions of the outcome of the match from members of the MAW team.

http://i1218.photobucket.com/albums/dd406/MrRagerMAW/Characters/CameronVessey.jpg

The Challenger: Cameron Vessey

Since his Mid Atlantic Wrestling debut in 2007, ‘The Second Generation Superstar’ Cameron Vessey has gone from strength to strength and quickly evolved into one of the promotion’s biggest stars. Vessey’s first accolade in MAW came in May 2008, as he won the Mid Atlantic Tag Team Championships alongside his partner and close friend Casey Valentine, making up the tag team C-V-2. While the pair lost the titles just five months later to Findlay O’Farraday and Ricky Douglas, Vessey would go onto bigger things as he won the fourth annual Rip Chord Invitational Challenge in January 2009. As the leader of The Succession Vessey has built up significant momentum since winning the trophy, and while he was unsuccessful in his first title challenge this January he has since picked up victories over Brendan Idol and the champion himself, American Patriot, in a handicap match. The Succession has threatened becoming a dominant force in Mid Atlantic Wrestling, and it will finally happen this Sunday if Cameron Vessey can defeat American Patriot to become the Mid Atlantic Champion.

http://i1218.photobucket.com/albums/dd406/MrRagerMAW/Characters/BulldozerBrandon_alt2.jpg

The Champion: American Patriot

The reigning Mid Atlantic Champion, American Patriot, debuted for MAW in late 2007. Five years Vessey’s senior, success came to the masked man almost instantly as he won the Rip Chord Invitational Challenge just months into his tenure in January 2008, proving early on in his MAW career that he could be a fixture in the main event scene. Patriot’s biggest achievement came ten months ago, when he defeated Mean Jean Cattley to win the Mid Atlantic Championship, and he has held it since – with a successful defence over Cameron Vessey to his name. Arguably the most popular wrestler in the history of MAW, the reigning champion can count on his fans to back him this Sunday when he defends the Championship.

Key Points

The Numbers Game – Since the formation of The Succession, they have always had each other’s backs in matches. American Patriot will have to be wary of this threat when he defends his title on Sunday.

The Strength Of The Fans – Since his MAW debut American Patriot has been loved by the crowd, and at times their influence can be match swinging. Stanley Hall will undoubtedly be 100% behind the champion this Sunday, which could give Patriot an edge.

Vessey’s Pinfall Victory – While his title challenge in January was unsuccessful, Cameron Vessey is one of the few men on the roster to boast a pinfall victory over the reigning champion after C-V-2’s win in a handicap match in February. While it was a handicap match, you have to wonder what sort of psychological advantage the victory will give the challenger ahead of this match.

Predictions

Marvin Earnest: Cameron Vessey has a lot of momentum going into this match, and I’ve no doubt that he’ll mount a strong challenge. However, I think that the champion will just have too much for him, with more experience and previous success to his name. I’m going for a Patriot victory.

Duke Hazzard: I reckon Cameron Vessey could do it. Despite his loss to Patriot in January, I don’t think that Vessey has ever been as hot as he is now and I can see it carrying on into the title match. Patriot is one of the greatest champions that we’ve seen in MAW, but The Succession are the future and I think that their era will begin this Sunday night. I’m going for a new champion.

Rip Chord: I know Cameron’s family well and success is a part of the Vessey name. Cameron seems to have the same hunger and determination and the previous generation of the Vessey family, and I know that he’ll be eager to win the strap this Sunday. That being said, American Patriot is one of the brightest talents that I’ve seen since I started MAW, and I know that he’ll do everything to retain the belt. I’m not sure who will win, but I can guarantee that we’ve got a great match ahead of us this Sunday.

MAW OLD SCHOOL RULES

Saturday, Week 4, May 2010 – Stanley Hall

Dark Match

Casey Valentine vs. Keith Vegas

Casey Valentine was in action before the show kicked off, looking to pick himself up from a loss against American Patriot last month with a win over Keith Vegas. Needless to say, Valentine made short work of his opponent on the night and finished him off after just a few minutes of domination when he locked in the Sharpshooter, forcing Vegas to submit.

For the second consecutive month, the show opens with Cameron Vessey coming down to the ring (and for the second consecutive month, to intense jeers from the Stanley Hall crowd). He enters the ring and picks up a microphone.

Cameron Vessey: The night has finally arrived...

However, before Vessey can utter another word, he is cut off by the MAW commissioner, Carl Batch.

Carl Batch: Cameron, let me cut you off right there, because quite frankly, I’m sick of hearing your voice and I think everybody in this arena feels the same way!

The commissioner is applauded by the audience for shutting Vessey up.

Carl Batch: Now, allow me to make one thing clear from the off tonight. This event is called Old School Rules, and I’m looking forward to some good action, including the Mid Atlantic Title match later on. But before you and your cronies start to make plans, I’m telling you that there will be absolutely NO outside interference during any match tonight! And if you fail to follow the rules, you have my word that you will never receive another title shot again for as long as I’m around! Now I suggest you leave the ring and actually focus on your title match, instead of parading yourself as a champion before you’ve done a damn thing!

The fans cheer the commissioner’s words once again, as Vessey leaves the ring and heads up the entrance ramp with a bitter stare aimed at Batch.

Carl Batch: Now from one title match to another, and like the rest of you I watched The Awesomeness getting themselves disqualified last month and thought, ‘What in God’s name are these idiots doing?’. So before Cannonball and Stardust show their faces tonight and brag about how ‘awesome’ they are, I’ll let it be known that I have assured Ace Youngblood and Max Mayhem another title shot. And if The Awesomeness try to get themselves disqualified again, I will personally strip them of the titles and instate Youngblood and Mayhem as champions!

After making two big announcements before the show has even begun, Batch leaves ringside to a standing ovation from the MAW fans. E

Cameron Vessey is making his way back to the locker room to prepare for his title match, while Findlay O’Farraday is making his way towards the ring area for his match against Kenny Clark. The two glance at each other, and a disgruntled Vessey confronts O’Farraday.

Cameron Vessey: What are you looking at, you big lump?

Findlay O’Farraday: I’m just looking at a man oozing with arrogance, and to be honest, I can’t wait to watch American Patriot send you packing tonight.

Cameron Vessey: Send me packing? You think that’s funny, huh? Well we’ll see how amused you are when I’m Mid Atlantic Champion!

Cameron Vessey storms off, leaving Findlay O’Farraday with a smirk on his face. D-

Findlay O’Farraday vs. Kenny Clark

Prior to this opening contest, neither competitor had a great deal of momentum; both had experienced an average start to 2010, and would certainly have been eager to get themselves firmly on the right tracks with a victory in this matchup tonight. Kenny Clark struggled in the opening stages of the match, as Findlay O’Farraday took the game to him from the opening bell with a series of damaging strikes. Clark did eventually get into the match it was thanks to an eye poke, and by keeping O’Farraday on the mat he managed to eliminate much of the brawler’s threat. While Clark had approached the match with intelligent tactics, he failed to turn his hard work into a real opportunity to finish the match and O’Farraday managed to work his way back into things, gaining the upper hand once again. Despite a good effort from Clark, he was put away with the Atomic Spinebuster and O’Farraday picked up the win.

Brendan Idol vs. Syd Collier

Brendan Idol was looking to come back from his defeat to Cameron Vessey in March by picking up a win tonight, as he went one on one with the latest graduate from the Mid Atlantic Boot Camp, Syd Collier. Collier never really got a chance during the match to show the fans at Stanley Hall what he could do, as he took on one of the most exciting and most popular wrestlers on the MAW roster in Brendan Idol, who had the backing of the fans from the opening bell and took it to his opponent at a high tempo. Collier got a few moves in throughout the match, but proceedings were by and large dominated by Brendan Idol, who picked up a victory after hitting the Idolizer to get himself back on the winning track.

Following Brendan Idol’s victory, Casey Valentine emerges at the top of the entrance ramp.

Casey Valentine: Idol! I’d like an explanation from somebody, if possible, as to what the hell you’ve done to deserve the status that you’ve got! What the hell have you done to deserve a number one contenders match, months into your MAW career!?! I’ve been here for over two years, I reached the final of the Rip Chord Invitational in January, yet some SWF reject strolls in and is worthy of a title shot? How about next month you meet me in the ring, and I’ll show everybody in the building that I’m the one that deserves a main event spot here in MAW! D-

Generation X vs. Hugh de Aske & Nomad

This was a big match for two newcomers in Hugh de Aske and Nomad, as they had the opportunity to join forces and pick up a victory over one half of The Succession, Brett Starr and Jay Chord. Hugh de Aske and Nomad were out for revenge after Generation X beat them down in the ring one month ago, while Jay Chord was eager to set the record straight after Nomad picked up a shock victory in his singles debut last month at Americana. It was Brett Starr and Nomad who started the match off as the legal men, and while Nomad was eager to get straight into the action Brett Starr participated in his usual routine of mocking the fans before he focused on his opponent. Soon enough Nomad forced him into action, going after him quickly and hitting a few good moves, encouraging Starr to retreat to his corner and tag in his partner. Jay Chord entered the ring with a determined look on his face, ready to avenge his defeat last month, and Nomad waited for him. Immediately, Jay Chord charged at Nomad, who quickly ducked and got the roll up! One... Two... but Jay Chord managed to get his shoulder up and prevent a true embarrassment! The match continued in an even fashion, with Generation X perhaps just edging it, with the crowd on their backs for the entire contest. Nomad continued to frustrate Jay Chord during the early spells by going for flash pinfalls, but never managed to get the best of Chord with a three count. Generation X slightly edged what was an even affair in terms of the amount of time spent on the offence, but it was a near fall from Nomad himself which forced Brett Starr to intervene and rescue his partner from a three count before flooring Nomad with a powerful Clothesline. Hugh de Aske quickly got involved, but Generation X took care of him with an innovative tag team move which saw Brett Starr lift him up for a flapjack, with Jay Chord grasping his head and executing a DDT simultaneously. Starr proceeded to eject de Aske from the ring with a Clothesline, sending himself over the top rope at the same time, leaving Jay Chord alone with Nomad. Chord lifted Nomad to his feet, but once again was hit with the Drift Shift! Nomad quickly went for the cover and got the three count over Chord before his partner could make the intervention! As Brett Starr entered the ring the victor quickly escaped, making for the entrance ramp and taking his partner with him, with the fans going wild as they left ringside.

Ahead of the main event, we see a clip of Ricky Douglas and Ernest Forthdyke-Hume backstage, approaching a door labelled as the commissioner’s office. Forthdyke-Hume knocks on the door, and the pair are invited to enter.

Ernest Forthdyke-Hume: Commissioner Batch, I have a proposition for you.

Carl Batch: Go on then, hit me.

Ernest Forthdyke-Hume: My client has been the brightest spark in Mid Atlantic Wrestling over the past few months. Ricky has successive wins to his name, and has looked utterly brilliant in the process of winning these matches. My proposition is this: Ricky Douglas takes on the winner of tonight’s main event, for the Mid Atlantic Championship!

Carl Batch chuckles, before realising that the Englishman is deadly serious.

Carl Batch: Ok, ok Ricky, you fancy yourself as a serious title contender? Then I’ll give you a chance. If you win your match next month at Fan Festival, you prove to me that you deserve to be in my thoughts when it comes to the Mid Atlantic Championship.

Ricky Douglas: Well who’s my opponent?

Carl Batch: Hmm... Well I can’t really think of anybody more appropriate than the man who you held the Mid Atlantic Tag Team titles with... Findlay O’Farraday! Now, if you could please leave my office, I’ve got a main event to be watching. E-

MID ATLANTIC CHAMPIONSHIP

Cameron Vessey vs. American Patriot ©

In what Cameron Vessey had touted as the dawning of a new era for Mid Atlantic Wrestling, he took on the Mid Atlantic Champion American Patriot to write his name in MAW history, with the chance to become the only man to have ever held both championships in the promotion. With a pinfall over current champion American Patriot to his name, as well as an impressive victory over Brendan Idol to earn the title shot, Cameron Vessey had plenty of momentum behind him to threaten American Patriot’s reign; Patriot could at least wrestle with the knowledge that there would be no interference from The Succession tonight, which may well have given him a psychological boost going into the title defence. Cameron Vessey was keen to not give the fans anything to cheer about early on in the match, keeping his distance from the champion and only participating in brief spells of action to avoid giving American Patriot the chance to grasp control of the match in the early stages. Both men worked their way into action, without the match swinging one way or another for several minutes. The first real opening fell to the challenger, and Cameron Vessey looked to put American Patriot away as soon as he could as he went for the Vessey Driver. The champion was still too fresh though, and countered Vessey’s signature move without too much struggle. Not long after American Patriot went for his own finishing move, the American Driver [backdrop Driver], but Vessey too managed to counter the move by dropping to the mat and sliding out of the ring, keeping the match alive.

Both men had spells of domination throughout the next few minutes, both achieving several two counts and keeping the fans on the edge of their seats; most of them supporting the fan favourite, American Patriot. The influence of Stanley Hall was vital when they got behind the champion, who was on the back foot and being slowly worn down by Cameron Vessey, and willed him back into the match and into a dominant position in the match. With momentum in his favour, Patriot began to throw caution to the wind, hitting several high impact moves before signalling for the American Driver yet again. Cameron Vessey got to his feet, and American Patriot grasped him, but before he could do a thing Cameron Vessey hoisted the champion up onto his shoulder, hitting the Vessey Driver out of nowhere! Vessey quickly went for the cover: One... Two... Kickout! Vessey ran his fingers through his hair in disbelief, appealing to the referee that Patriot’s shoulders were down for three, but the match continued. Vessey dragged the champion to his feet and into the corner of the ring, trapping him against the turnbuckle and delivering some closed fists to the stomach, before hoisting him up onto the top turnbuckle. Before Vessey could capitalise, Patriot connected with a few kicks to the challenger, forcing him a few steps back, before jumping from the turnbuckle and hitting a flying clothesline! Both men were on the mat, slowly making their way back to a vertical position, and vitally it was the champion who reached his feet first. Vessey was on his feet not long afterwards, but Patriot reacted first with a kick to the midsection, following up with his trademark Piledriver! He threw an arm across the chest of Vessey to cover him, and Wilson Carlisle made the count: One... Two... Three! After a long and hard fought match, American Patriot had successfully retained the Mid Atlantic Championship!

Post-Show Notes

* Thankfully, there were no backstage incidents to report tonight.

* Some of the key members of the roster seem content with how things are going; American Patriot, Casey Valentine and Hugh de Aske all turned down deals to work for NYCW this month to focus on their work with MAW, while Jay Chord also rejected 4C out of loyalty to his father.

* On a similar note, Duke Hazzard has signed a pay-per-appearance deal to announce RIPW’s shows. While in the past the common practice for MAW workers has been to let them go when they signed for another company, me and Rip have agreed that it would be in the interest of the business to retain Duke’s services.

MAW.com: Two Championship Matches Confirmed!

http://i1218.photobucket.com/albums/dd406/MrRagerMAW/MAWcom.jpg

TWO CHAMPIONSHIP MATCHES CONFIRMED!

Monday, Week 2, June 2010

Commissioner Carl Batch has wasted no time in putting together the match that everybody wants to see, as he today revealed to MAW.com that the winner of this year’s Rip Chord Invitational, Citizen X, will challenge American Patriot for the Mid Atlantic Championship next month at MAW Summer Heatwave. On the same night, The Aces Of Mayhem take on The Awesomeness in a rematch for the Mid Atlantic Tag Team Championships, making the card a double bill of championship matches.

Before these matches however, MAW Fan Festival will take place; and Commissioner Batch also revealed that we will see a Champion vs. Champion match, as American Patriot will take on Jefferson Stardust in the main event. On the same night, number one contender Citizen X will take on the other MAW Tag Team Champion, Huey Cannonball. For American Patriot and Citizen X, these matches will be an important tool for building momentum ahead of the championship match. For The Awesomeness, wins in their respective matches could be huge for the duo.

As previously announced, Ricky Douglas will be taking on Findlay O’Farraday at Fan Festival. Ricky Douglas has been keen to establish himself as a contender to the Mid Atlantic Championship in recent months, and although wins over Curtis Jenkins and Riley McManus haven’t quite done that for him, the commissioner has promised that he’ll be in consideration for a title match if he can score a victory over his former tag team partner.

Another match that has been set in stone for this month’s event is Brendon Idol verses Casey Valentine, after Idol has accepted the challenge put forward by Valentine this past Sunday. Casey Valentine made his bitterness towards Brendan Idol known, after Idol caught the affection of the fans so soon into his MAW career and even found himself in a number one contender’s match a few months ago. With both men on the brink of main event status, this match could potentially give them the push that they need to headline MAW in the near future.

Dark Match

The Atlantic Connection vs. Johnny Heizenger [Ant-Man] & Syd Collier

A dark match before the show kicked off saw the new pairing of Johnny Heizenger and Syd Collier take on The Atlantic Connection, who hadn’t had much luck since the turn of the year and most recently both suffered losses to Ricky Douglas. Tonight they faced two rookies in Heizenger and Collier, and dominated their opponents for most of the match, putting their technical superiority on display. The newcomers had a decent period in the match where they had the chance to show the MAW crowd what they could do as a team, but the result was never really in doubt and Riley McManus picked up the pinfall victory over the debuting Johnny Heizenger after executing a Swinging Neckbreaker.

Huey Cannonball vs. Citizen X

Citizen X was stepping into the ring for a competitive match for the first time since winning the Rip Chord Invitational in January, thanks to the assault which left him with a bad knee injury in the following month. This match was an important opportunity for the number one contender to shake off any ring rust which he might have had ahead of his Mid Atlantic Championship match next month at MAW Summer Heatwave, while Huey Cannonball was also in desperate need for a bit of form ahead of The Awesomeness’ MAW Tag Team Championship defence at the same event. If there was any ring rust, Citizen X did well to hide it early on, coming out of the blocks quickly and looking to put Cannonball out of the match in just the opening minutes. After dominating the first few minutes of the match, Citizen X went for his signature elbow strike, the Flaming Anarchy, but Cannonball managed to quickly move out of the way before grounding Citizen X with a big dropkick, halting X’s momentum in its tracks and taking control of the match. Throughout the match there were similar moments where Citizen X slipped up or lost concentration for a split second to allow Huey Cannonball to get into the match, indicating that ring rust might indeed be an issue; there was nothing wrong with the conclusion of the match though, with Citizen X getting the pinfall victory after hitting the X-Wave on his opponent.

Following his victorious return to the ring after a four month layoff, Citizen X is joined in the ring by Marvin Earnest for a quick interview.

Marvin Earnest: Welcome back Citizen X, and congratulations on a good display ahead of your Mid Atlantic Championship shot next month at Summer Heatwave?

Citizen X: I’m confident Marvin. Obviously I’ve been injured for a long time, but I wouldn’t have challenged the champion if I didn’t feel ready to step back into the ring and beat him. I feel as good as I’ve ever felt, and next month I’ll prove it when I step into the ring and win the Mid Atlantic Championship for the second time.

Marvin Earnest: Do you have anything to say to The Succession? In February it was Cameron Vessey and Casey Valentine who injured your knee and put you on the sidelines for a long time.

Citizen X: I haven’t forgotten about what The Succession did to me, and don’t worry, I will get my revenge. After I’ve won the Mid Atlantic Championship, I’ll be going after Vessey, Valentine and the other two losers. Mark my words – The Succession will find out what happens when you mess with Citizen X! Ricky Douglas (w/ Ernest Forthdyke-Hume) vs. Findlay O’Farraday

After picking up a couple of impressive victories over Curtis Jenkins and Riley McManus in recent months, Ricky Douglas was looking to stake a claim for a shot at the Mid Atlantic Championship, but in his way stood a man who knew him better than anybody else on the MAW roster; the man who he held the Mid Atlantic Tag Team Championships with just over a year ago, Findlay O’Farraday. The match was equally important for the big brawler, who had suffered a couple of losses early in the year and was looking to put himself back among the top dogs in the company. Ricky Douglas was hesitant to get too close to his former partner in the early stages of the match, looking to avoid the powerful strikes that he’d have been all too familiar with. O’Farraday didn’t give him too much of a chance to ease into the match though, eager to get into action as quickly as possible. The match saw an interesting clash of styles, with much of O’Farraday’s arsenal strike-based, while Ricky Douglas looked to wrestle. As many of the fans expected prior to the contest, Findlay O’Farraday had much of the offense and as he built up a head of steam, he sensed that the match was there for the taking, hyping the fans up for the Atomic Spinebuster. He stalked Ricky Douglas, ready to execute the move, but Ernest Forthdyke-Hume tried to intervene, climbing up onto the apron in an attempt to distract O’Farraday. Referee Wilson Carlisle tried to make sure that Forthdyke-Hume didn’t play a part in the match, but with his back turned to the action Cameron Vessey entered the ring from nowhere and hit the Vessey Driver on O’Darraday! He quickly slid out of the ring and jumped the barricade before Carlisle turned back to the match, and Ricky Douglas went for the cover, getting a three count!

Brett Starr and Jay Chord come out to the top of the entrance ramp, one month on from losing a tag team contest to the team of Hugh de Aske and Nomad.

Brett Starr: Hugh de Aske! Nomad! I have no idea who you two morons think you are, strolling into this company and acting like you even deserve to be in the same ring as Generation X, but the fact is that you don’t, and a once in a life time freak victory doesn’t change that!

Jay Chord: Heck, Nomad is too cowardly to even wrestle me fairly, he’s resorted to unfair attacks in the past two months to defeat me.

The fans boo Jay Chord, knowing that Nomad has two pinfalls over Jay Chord, fair and square.

Brett Starr: But it’s time to settle the score. It’s time to put Nomad and Hugh de Aske in their place, and time to show everybody that Generation X belong in the limelight, headlining shows!

Jay Chord: So how about it, punks? Summer Heatwave, the two of you verses the two of us, and we’ll find out what you two are really made of! E+

Brendan Idol vs. Casey Valentine

Casey Valentine had a point to prove in this match against Brendan Idol, unhappy that his opponent had received a number one contender’s match just months into his time in Mid Atlantic Wrestling; a win for either man would give them a case for a shot at the Mid Atlantic Championship. A somewhat running theme of the night continued as two opposing styles clashed in the ring, with the more traditional wrestler in Casey Valentine matching up against the faced paced, high flying, all action approach of Brendan Idol which had excited the fans so much since he arrived in MAW. It was Brendan Idol who got the better of his opponent during the first few minutes of the match, using his speed to avoid Valentine’s moves and pull off some high impact moves himself which Valentine struggled to cope with. When he finally found himself with the opportunity to get on top of the match, however, Valentine capitalised as he moved out of the way of a Flying Crossbody, sending Idol crashing into the mat. Valentine quickly pounced upon Idol, keeping him on the mat and making a point of targeting his legs, perhaps a technique to reduce the cruiserweight’s move set. Brendan Idol managed to get back into the match at times, but with his opponent’s constant targeting of the right knee in particular ‘The Teen Dream’ looked to be in a spot of bother throughout the match. Casey Valentine had given himself an advantage and didn’t put it to waste, using it to control much of the match and repeatedly going for the knee whenever Idol began to put a string of moves together. After a spell of domination Valentine was ready to end the match, signalling for his finishing move, the Deep Impact. Idol slowly got to his feet, and as he got to a vertical base Casey Valentine grabbed him – but Idol shoved him away towards the turnbuckle, before connecting with a lariat in the corner of the ring out of nowhere! Valentine fell to the ground, while Brendan Idol climbed to the top rope, battling through his knee injury as he looked for a move which might allow him to pick up the victory. Valentine stumbled to his feet, while Idol straightened himself up on the top turnbuckle; before he could leap off, however, Valentine threw himself into the ring ropes, knocking Idol off balance and to the mat below! Valentine capitalised instinctively, dragging Idol into the centre of the ring and locking in the Sharpshooter that he had been using in recent months. After an unsuccessful battle to reach the bottom rope, Brendan Idol was forced to tap out.

Ahead of his main event match against the Mid Atlantic Champion, American Patriot, Jefferson Stardust comes down to the ring (accompanied by Lisa Bowen) with a few words to say to the MAW crowd.

Jefferson Stardust: Ladies and gentlemen, my partner Huey Cannonball has asked me to apologise on his behalf for what happened earlier tonight. Even though we all saw Huey dominate his match, and lose due to what was quite clearly nothing more than a fluke, he feels guilty and has asked me to apologise to everybody. With that being said... Are you ready to see a masterclass? Are you ready to see the superstar of Mid Atlantic Wrestling at work? Well get ready, because you’re about to see him – and I’m not talking about American Patriot – I’m talking about ‘The Idol’, Jefferson Stardust! You see, not only am I a better wrestler than that guy, but I’m also much better looking – I mean, seriously dude, no mask in the world is going to hide your hideous face enough for you to get a babe like Lisa Bowen on your arm, you know? I guess what I’m trying to say is, I have something that American Patriot doesn’t have. I am awesome, and Patriot is about to find that out first hand!

A chorus of boos echos around Stanley Hall, as the fans wait for the champion, American Patriot, to save them from Stardust’s boasts. E

Jefferson Stardust (w/ Lisa Bowen) vs. American Patriot

American Patriot was coming fresh off a Mid Atlantic Championship defence against Cameron Vessey last month, but he already had another one lined up against Citizen X next month and would want to win the match to carry his momentum through to the big title defence at Summer Heatwave. Jefferson Stardust was the definite underdog in this one, although a victory for him could be potentially huge for his standing within MAW. The match started with a few tie ups, although Jefferson Stardust didn’t remain in them for too long, keen to impose his cruiserweight style on the match in the knowledge that he’d probably be outwrestled by the Mid Atlantic Champion. The match was a lot more even than many people might have expected, especially after The Awesomeness’ fairly poor showing in their last title defence in which Stardust was the man to get the team intentionally disqualified, but Stardust held his own against American Patriot with his fair share of controlling the match. While American Patriot definitely edged the match, Stardust brought out all of his high flying maneuvers. After managing to counter American Patriot’s Inverted Piledriver with an innovative headscissor takedown, Jefferson Stardust went to the top rope and managed to hit his trademark move, the Stage Dive; but it wasn’t enough to put away the champion, as he kicked out on a two count! The bout continued, and Jefferson Stardust seemed to be even more confident than usual after coming so close to finishing American Patriot off. Patriot came back into the match fighting though, as if kicking out on a two count had given him a second wind of sorts, and went on to control the match. Without giving Stardust much of an opportunity to capitalise on the damage that had already been done, American Patriot built up a head of steam and got the pinfall victory after hitting the American Driver.

American Patriot is celebrating his victory in the ring, when Citizen X appears at the top of the entrance ramp and makes his way down to the ring in a scene similar to that following Patriot’s title defence last month. Words are exchanged between the Mid Atlantic Champion and the number one contender, before Citizen X extends his arm, offering a handshake. American Patriot accepts the handshake and the fans applaud, setting up for what is sure to be a great championship match next month at MAW Summer Heatwave. E

MAW.com: MAW Summer Heatwave Card Finalised!

MAW SUMMER HEATWAVE CARD FINALISED!

Friday, Week 1, July 2010

The full card for MAW Summer Heatwave was revealed today, with the special 90 minute show set to be headlined by the Mid Atlantic Championship match between Citizen X and American Patriot. Citizen X returned to the ring last month with a victory over Huey Cannonball, while the current champion American Patriot picked up a win over his tag team partner Jefferson Stardust in the main event. The show ended with a handshake between the challenger and the champion, but any mutual respect or friendship will go out of the window when the Mid Atlantic Championship is on the line.

After their defeats to Citizen X and American Patriots, The Awesomeness will have to pick themselves up quickly as they defend the Mid Atlantic Tag Team Championships against rivals The Aces Of Mayhem. When the two teams last met in April, it was only a disqualification loss which saved the champions; however, commissioner Carl Batch has vowed to strip Cannonball and Stardust of the belts if they cannot retain them cleanly this time. The former champions looked good in the last affair, and will have to bring the same intensity to Summer Heatwave if they’re to win the Mid Atlantic Tag Team Championships for a second time.

Jay Chord will once again take to the ring looking to get revenge over Nomad, who has managed to pickup two consecutive pinfall victories over Chord; the most recent of the pinfalls came in a tag team match between Hugh de Aske & Nomad and Generation X, and Summer Heatwave will see a rematch take place with Chord and Brett Starr keen to make amends for their loss in May. Meanwhile, Jared Johnson is set to make his MAW debut, and after signing his contract he proclaimed to be the next big thing in Mid Atlantic Wrestling; he’ll look to make a good first impression as he takes on Keith Vegas at Summer Heatwave. Findlay O’Farraday will also be in action after his loss to Ricky Douglas last month, as he takes on Johnny Heizenger; he is also rumoured to have words for Cameron Vessey, who cost him his match at Fan Festival.

CITIZEN X VS. AMERICAN PATRIOT PREVIEW

Monday, Week 4, July 2010

MAW Summer Heatwave is now just five days away, and is tipped to be one of the biggest shows of the year as Citizen X takes on American Patriot in the main event, with the Mid Atlantic Championship on the line. The winner of this year’s Rip Chord Invitational will look to bring an end to American Patriot’s long reign as champion, and ahead of the match we take a look at the competitors involved and potentially decisive factors in this championship bout.

http://i1218.photobucket.com/albums/dd406/MrRagerMAW/Characters/CitizenX_alt1.jpg

The Challenger: Citizen X

Unlike many of his colleagues on the MAW roster, Citizen X had plenty of experience under his belt when he arrived in Mid Atlantic Wrestling, having worked with CZCW since 2004. He made his MAW debut in 2007, and his experience drove him straight into the main event scene and it was in April 2008 when he defeated Erik Strong to win the Mid Atlantic Championship. His reign lasted for five months before Strong regained the title, but Citizen X has been in and around the main event scene ever since. He reaffirmed his status as one of MAW’s top stars this January when he defeated Casey Valentine to win the fifth annual Rip Chord Invitational, but his quest to win the Mid Atlantic Championship for a second time was brought to a halt when The Succession assaulted him a month later, injuring his knee. Citizen X didn’t appear again until May, when he made his intentions to become Mid Atlantic Champion clear. He has promised revenge on The Succession, but has made it his priority to topple American Patriot.

http://i1218.photobucket.com/albums/dd406/MrRagerMAW/Characters/BulldozerBrandon_alt2.jpg

The Champion: American Patriot

American Patriot made his debut within months of Citizen X, and – like his opponent – made a big splash in MAW early on in his tenure as he won the Rip Chord Invitational in January 2008. Patriot went on to win the Mid Atlantic Championship last July as he defeated Mean Jean Cattley, and over the past year the fan favourite has overcome several obstacles to hang on to the championship. Most recently, Patriot has feuded with The Succession’s leader-of-sorts Cameron Vessey, successfully defending the Mid Atlantic Championship twice over The Second Generation Superstar. Currently you would have to say that American Patriot is MAW’s franchise player, but Citizen X poses a threat much different to the ones that he has previously gone up against with plenty of experience and success behind him. A successful defence for Patriot this Saturday would potentially be a defining one in his career, and a sign of how far he has come in his short career.

Key Points

Ring Rust? – Citizen X has only wrestled one match since winning the Rip Chord Invitational in January, which was his victory over Huey Cannonball last month. The question has to be asked over whether or not he has any ring rust to shake off, or even if his knee is 100% healed following that injury.

Citizen X’s Winning Pedigree – Unlike some of his past opponents, American Patriot will be up against a man who knows how to win matches with big stakes, with a reign as MAW Champion to his name. In fact, Citizen X is undefeated in 2010; American Patriot will have to be on top of his game to bring an end to that statistic.

Stanley Hall’s Split Allegiance – American Patriot is accustomed to wrestling matches when he is the fan favourite, with Stanley Hall behind him and in full voice. However, Citizen X is bound to have his supporters this Saturday and it is yet to be seen how the champion might perform without the support of every person in the arena.

Predictions

Marvin Earnest: “I like Citizen X a lot, and if anybody can bring an end to American Patriot’s reign it’s him. However, last month against Huey Cannonball he definitely looked a little off, like there was some ring rust there, and he made a few little mistakes during the match. Cannonball might have not been able to capitalise upon those mistakes and put the match to bed, but American Patriot won’t let Citizen X get away with any mistakes this Saturday. I think American Patriot is better prepared, and I’m going for a successful defence.”

Tim Weightman: “I just can’t see anybody stopping American Patriot right now. He’s been on top for a year, and I don’t think he’ll stop any time soon. Patriot wins for me.”

Rip Chord: “The two biggest names in Mid Atlantic Wrestling collide, and it’s going to be tremendous. American Patriot won the strap a year ago this month, and he’s represented this company really well. I’m a great admirer of Citizen X as well, and I knew when I brought him to this company that he had a lot to offer. If you pushed me for a winner, I think that the experience of Citizen X might just swing it.”

Dark Match

Callum Jones [Cameron Jones] vs. Kenny Clark

Cameron Jones was the latest graduate of the Mid Atlantic Boot Camp; although, due to the presence of Cameron Vessey on the roster, he had been asked to work under a different name to avoid any confusion and Callum Jones was born. His debut was, in truth, an awkward match against Kenny Clark, which saw both men get a decent amount of offence as Stanley Hall rapidly began to fill up. Kenny Clark picked up the victory after hitting a Reverse Facebuster.

The main show kicked off with Marvin Earnest standing in the ring.

Marvin Earnest: Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome your Mid Atlantic Champion... American Patriot!

American Patriot’s entrance music hit, to an enormous ovation from the sold out Stanley Hall. American Patriot made his way down to the ring with the Mid Atlantic Championship around his waist, high fiving people as he made his way down the aisle before entering the ring.

Marvin Earnest: Patriot, one year ago you cemented your position at the top of the totem pole here in MAW when you won the Mid Atlantic Championship. But tonight you face one of your biggest tests yet as you take on Citizen X. What are your thoughts ahead of this title defence?

American Patriot: Well Marvin, when you’re the Mid Atlantic Champion there really are no easy title defences – but you’re right, Citizen X is a fantastic wrestler and I’m sure it will be a brilliant match. We all watched him win the Rip Chord Invitational in January and, really, it’s a shame that this match couldn’t have happened sooner. But at long last we’ve got this match lined up and I can’t wait.

Marvin Earnest: You touched on Citizen X’s absence there; do you believe that his fitness could play a defining part in tonight’s match?

American Patriot: Well I certainly hope not. These fans deserve to see a fantastic title match tonight and I’ve got my fingers crossed that Citizen X is in top condition for tonight’s main event.

Suddenly, in a scene eerily similar to that of last February, American Patriot is cut off by the entrance music of Cameron Vessey, right before Vessey and Casey Valentine emerge from behind the curtain. The fans jeer as they make their way down to the ring, with their sights set on the Mid Atlantic Champion. As C-V-2 enter the ring Patriot foresees what is coming, and quickly pounces upon Cameron Vessey with rapid forearms to his back; Casey Valentine quickly breaks up the attack though and the numbers game is too much for Patriot. Before he knows it the champion is forced to the mat, and like their previous victim the right knee of Patriot is targeted by their attacks. After aiming several stomps at the knee of Patriot, Casey Valentine grabs both feet and, despite a valiant struggle from the champion, the Sharpshooter is locked in. Valentine can’t keep the hold locked in for long as Citizen X charges down the aisle, equipped with what appears to be a steel pipe. Valentine quickly breaks the hold and C-V-2 escape from the ring quickly, and the number one contender makes it his priority to check on the wellbeing of his opponent for the night, calling for some medical assistance. MID ATLANTIC TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIPS

The Aces Of Mayhem vs. The Awesomeness (w/ Lisa Bowen)

The last match between these two teams saw The Aces Of Mayhem bombard the champions with fast paced attacks from the opening bell, and The Awesomeness never really recovered from a slow start, retaining their titles only thanks to an intentional disqualification from Jefferson Stardust. Tonight, however, The Awesomeness knew that an intentional disqualification wouldn’t save them as Commissioner Carl Batch had promised to strip them of the titles if they repeated those antics. They seemed much better prepared for the no nonsense, high flying approach from their opponents, and matched it. Four cruiserweights doing their all to end the night as a champion made for a very exciting opening contest, getting the fans in the mood for what was set to be an explosive night. No team managed to really dominate the affair at all throughout the match; the action came thick and fast, with plenty of high flying moves and frequent tags between both teams. The fast paced action came to a sudden halt when Max Mayhem went for a Senton Bomb, but Jefferson Stardust rolled out of the way, sending Mayhem crashing to the mat. Mayhem stumbled to his feet but the bump seemed to have stunned him, as Stardust connected with an impressive Enziguri. In a brief show of poor sportsmanship, Stardust delivered a forearm to Ace Youngblood to knock him down from the apron, before tagging in Huey Cannonball who climbed up to the top rope and delivered the Cannonball Run [Corkscrew Legdrop], allowing him to pick up the pinfall over Max Mayhem. In a fairly short but exciting opening matchup, The Awesomeness retained the Mid Atlantic Tag Team Championships.

Jared Johnson: I know what you’re asking. Who am I? Who is the man standing before you? Allow me to answer that question. I am Jared Johnson, also known as Double J, also known as the greatest technical wrestler to ever step foot in an MAW ring, also known as the future Mid Atlantic Champion. What you are about to see is a master class in technical wrestling, unlike any of the average joes you’ve watched month after month before me. As for my opponent tonight, Keith Vegas? Keith will become the first of a long list of wrestlers who will succumb to the Caroline Crossface. E+

Jared Johnson vs. Keith Vegas

Jared Johnson seemed confident of making an impact in Mid Atlantic Wrestling, and truthfully he didn’t have the hardest debut as he came up against a man who hadn’t really managed to find any momentum since his own debut around a year ago. ‘Double J’ had plenty of opportunity to show the crowd what he was about, using an array of impressive technical maneuvers, including a variety of suplexes and dominant mat wrestling. Keith Vegas had one or two opportunities to impose himself upon the match, but constantly found himself being outwrestled by his opponent. Jared Johnson put Vegas out of his misery when he locked in the Carolina Crossface, forcing his opponent to tap out in a matter of seconds backing up his suggestions that he could have a bright future in the company.

Findlay O’Farraday vs. Johnny Heizenger

Johnny Heizenger was stepping into an MAW ring for his solo debut, after teaming with Syd Collier in a dark match last month. Unfortunately for Heizenger, tonight he was up against an angry beast, as Findlay O’Farraday was looking to take out his fury after being cost a big match last month at the hands of Cameron Vessey. Johnny Heizenger surprisingly wasn’t as out of his depth as many had expected going into the match; despite being considerably smaller than his opponent he had a few bright moments throughout the match, showing a considerable amount of power and raising eyebrows when he went to slam O’Farraday (unsuccessfully, albeit, as the big man countered with a vicious elbow to the side of the head). Ultimately, though, the raw anger and brutality of Findlay O’Farraday was too much to cope with for the rookie, and O’Farraday picked up the victory after hitting his signature Atomic Spinebuster.

After a good performance driven by anger, Findlay O’Farraday picks up a microphone amid rumours that he is prepared to call out Cameron Vessey.

Findlay O’Farraday: Cameron Vessey! Vessey you punk, I know you’re here tonight, I’ve already seen you! Come out here right now Vessey!

Findlay O’Farraday waits for a few moments, but there is no sign of Vessey.

Findlay O’Farraday: I understand Vessey. You don’t want to come out here right now because you know that I will kick your ass all over this arena! So how about we sanction it? Consider this a challenge. Whenever, wherever, I want you in the ring! E

Ahead of the co-main event, Citizen X takes a brief break from his preparations to have a chat with Marvin Earnest.

Marvin Earnest: Citizen X, earlier tonight we saw you come to the aid of American Patriot and potentially save him from major injury. That being said, there’s rumbles that Patriot may not be fit to wrestle tonight which could see him surrender the Mid Atlantic Championship. Your thoughts?

Citizen X: I hope American Patriot can wrestle. I don’t want the title forfeited to me, I want to win it. As for The Succession... They’ll get what’s coming to them. That’s all I’ve got to say about them. E+

Generation X vs. Hugh de Aske & Nomad

There were suggestions ahead of this match that Hugh de Aske and Nomad had a huge psychological advantage going into the contest, as Nomad had picked up two successive pinfall victories over Jay Chord. Although they were both relatively new in MAW, a win for de Aske and Nomad could make them both significant names among the upper reaches of the roster. Generation X were keen to make sure that didn’t happen, coming out of the blocks quickly and looking to really dominate the match from the very first minute. Their plan was an effective one and their opponents struggled to cope in the early moments. Jay Chord in particular resisted going for any covers in the early stages of the match; it seemed as if he wanted to punish the opponents for the embarrassment that had been caused over the past few months. Generation X’s most dominant spell in the match saw them working well as a duo to isolate Nomad, keeping him in the ring for several minutes and handing out punishment while keeping him well away from his partner. Brett Starr, in typical fashion, took every possible opportunity to taunt and provoke the illegal man; it was ultimately his own arrogance which brought an end to his team’s spell of dominance, as he turned his back on Nomad, allowing the Canadian to scramble towards his corner and finally tag in his partner! Hugh de Aske bounced into the ring and took out Starr with a Clothesline, doing the same to Jay Chord when he attempted to interfere. De Aske was hot and had the momentum on his side, and eager to pick up another win he wasted no time in going after Brett Starr, taking him to the ground again with a big lariat. The Belgian picked Starr up to his feet and Irish Whipped him towards the ropes; however, Starr reversed it into an Irish Whip of his own, and as de Aske bounced off of the ropes he got hit by Generation X’s new double team move, the Flapjack/DDT combination which they had named the Generation Gap. Brett Starr immediately went for the pinfall and got the three count.

MID ATLANTIC CHAMPIONSHIP

Citizen X vs. American Patriot ©

The main event had finally arrived, as American Patriot was set to defend the Mid Atlantic Championship against the winner of this year’s Rip Chord Invitational, Citizen X. Leading up to the event all of the talk was about whether Citizen X has recovered sufficiently from his previous knee injury to mount a challenge, but since The Succession’s latest attack there were huge question marks over American Patriot’s fitness going into the title defence. From the start of the match it was evident that American Patriot was troubled by his knee injury, moving around the ring with a clear limp in between tie ups with his opponent. Unlike a more ruthless and less respectful opponent might have done, Citizen X made a point of not targeting the injured knee from the very start of the contest; it seemed that the challenger wished for this championship match to be settled cleanly, much like the fans in attendance. The assault by The Succession had given Citizen X a clear advantage though, and it wasn’t long before he had gained the upper hand in the match, wrestling American Patriot down to the mat and taking control. The match continued in a fairly similar fashion throughout the early stages and into the middle of the bout; there were periods of the match in which American Patriot worked his way into an advantageous position, but ultimately his impaired movement proved his shortcoming as he constantly allowed Citizen X back into the match and back on top of the contest. As the match went on American Patriot was the man being worn down, although Citizen X’s first attempt to put him away with the X-Wave was countered; a sign of American Patriot’s intense fighting spirit, and a sign that Citizen X had a long way to go before he could finally put Patriot away and become the Mid Atlantic Champion.

Citizen X made certain that American Patriot couldn’t work his way back into the match after the counter, taking control of the champion and, just moments later, connected with a Flaming Anarchy, his signature roaring elbow! American Patriot looked to be out of it, and Citizen X went for the cover. One... Two... Kickout! American Patriot firmly got a shoulder off the mat, ensuring that the match would continue. There seemed to be a frustration creeping into Citizen X’s approach as he punched the mat in fury, but he made sure that he didn’t give the champion much time to recover and went straight on the attack just moments after the kickout. Citizen X dragged American Patriot from the canvas up onto his feet, and in an attempt to put the champion out of the contest once and for all, went for a second successive Flaming Anarchy; but Patriot ducked out of the way, before rolling up Citizen X from behind for a near fall! Patriot’s supporters were on their feet, thinking that he’d stolen the victory, but it was only a two count. Realising that he couldn’t afford to give American Patriot such chances to pick up the victory, Citizen X quickly got to his feet, but Patriot began to fight back! Almost as if he had blocked out the pain in his knee with a rush of momentum, Patriot began to deliver blows to the midsection of his opponent before taking him down with a huge Clothesline. Citizen X scrambled to his feet, but was floored with another Clothesline. The fans were on their feet, American Patriot’s blood was pumping, and as Citizen X got to his feet once again he used his adrenaline to hit the American Driver! He leaped over his prone opponent for the cover. One... Two... Kickout!

Both men were laying still on the mat; Citizen X had just used all of his energy to kickout of one of the most devastating moves in MAW, while American Patriot had used all of his energy – and perhaps the last use of his right leg – to execute it. Both men stirred and slowly made their way to the feet, beating the referee’s ten count and reaching a vertical base at about the same time. They took turns to exchange blows; Patriot got a shot, then Citizen X got a shot, then Patriot got a shot, then Citizen X got a shot. The fans felt that one big move would put the match to bed. American Patriot was the man to take control of the affair, stringing together a couple of blows, before a kick to the midsection. The fans knew what was coming as Patriot grasped his opponent, going for his Inverted Piledriver. However, as he lifted Citizen X up, the pressure was too much and Patriot’s knee gave way! Citizen X quickly recovered, and connected with a second Flaming Anarchy as American Patriot got to his feet! Citizen X stumbled across the body of the champion: One... Two... Three! Citizen X had come through a hard fought battle, and was a two time Mid Atlantic Champion!

Citizen X stood in the ring with a huge smile on his face as Wilson Carlisle handed him the Mid Atlantic Championship, after he had joined the exclusive list of people to win the championship for a second time. The new champion held the belt proudly above his head, receiving a generous applause from everybody in the arena; even the American Patriot fans. They had just witnessed a brilliant match between the two stars of Mid Atlantic Wrestling. However, the celebrations were brought to a halt when The Succession emerged at the top of the entrance ramp; this time, Valentine and Vessey were joined by Brett Starr and Jay Chord, who had won their match earlier in the night. The four youngsters made their way down to the ring, to boos from Stanley Hall, and up the steel steps onto the ring apron. The Succession surrounded the new champion; a man stood on every side on the ring, as Citizen X stood in the centre. The four men proceeded to enter the ring, and slowly close down on Citizen X.

The new champion stared Cameron Vessey in the eyes. The fans sensed that The Succession were ready to attack. Suddenly, the intense stare on Citizen X’s face turned to a wry grin, which Cameron Vessey shared. Vessey extended his hand, and Citizen X accepted the handshake. The fans jeered angrily as Vessey lifted Citizen X’s hand up, proclaiming him the winner of the match – and, in the bigger picture, seemingly accepting him as an ally of The Succession! D

Post-Show Notes

* No backstage incidents to report tonight.

* Citizen X’s turn at the end of the night was a complete success.

* Two of the pairings tonight – Jones/Clark and O’Farraday/Heizenger – seemed to have pretty poor chemisty in the ring together. Noted for future reference.

* Tim Weightman had a good debut in colour commentary, playing a heel unlike his predecessor. He probably didn’t have quite the effect that Duke Hazzard had before him, but he’s a young worker and there’s plenty of time for him to improve here at MAW.

Nice work on the Citizen X turn. Although he's a natural heel and tbh, it's difficult to buy his face act (I'm sure TEW rates him at a D level face), the way you portrayed him following his injury lay-off sewed enough seeds to make his abrupt turn a surprise. It's not so much that he turned, but I figured he'd perhaps use American Patriot as a means to an end in order to gain retribution from The Succession first, before turning and/or taking the title.

I'm interested to see where you go from here, although part of me is wondering whether Citizen X is as invested in a structured alliance as he seems... he is an anarchist after all.

Monday, Week 1, August 2010

I had a rather bittersweet phone call this morning; Brett Starr had signed a contract with Supreme Wrestling Federation, and would go into development later this week.

It’s an inevitable aspect of booking the independent circuit, more so in Mid Atlantic Wrestling than any other promotion. The primary focus for MAW upon its creation was to provide young wrestlers with a stepping stone towards bigger and better things, and as such the company is lined with exceptional young talents like Starr who can be snapped up by the big leagues on any day of any week.

On the one hand, seeing somebody like Brett Starr get signed by SWF is pretty great. MAW has played its intended part in the kid’s career and he can now go on to achieve stardom, which I’ve no doubt he will. He’s a talented wrestler and probably the most charismatic person I’ve ever come across since my employment with MAW began. We might even be able to see him on Supreme TV by the end of the year, which would be fantastic.

But on the other hand – the booker’s point of view, if you will – somebody like Starr getting signed up to SWF means that you have to tear up any plans that you might have had for him, and fill his position on the roster. I had plans for Starr over the next few months, which involved him and Jay Chord challenging The Awesomeness for the Mid Atlantic Tag Team Championships and winning them in October, at Where It All Begins Again. Starr’s departure meant that I needed to come up with new plans for the champions heading into our biggest show of the year, and new plans for the boss’s son.

Of course I don’t begrudge Starr for taking up this opportunity, because it’s a massive one which might not come around again very soon. I’ll just have to wish him good luck for the future, and go back to the drawing board.

A Guide To The Finishing Moves Of The MAW Roster

[OOC post: A few times since I started writing this dynasty there’s been occasions when I’ve looked at a wrestler’s finishing move(s), and had no idea what it was. It happened again when I was writing up the last show, when I realised that I had no idea what Huey Cannonball’s ‘Cannonball Run’ was (a visit to the TEW Wiki told me that it is, in fact, a Corkscrew Legdrop). I figure as readers it can’t be any easier, so I thought I’d just compile a list of all of the roster’s finishing moves including a description of the move if it isn’t clear. I used the TEW Wiki to help me with most of these, and where I couldn’t find out I’ve used my own imagination.]

MAW.com: Six Man Tag Team Match Revealed!

SIX MAN TAG TEAM MATCH REVEALED!

Monday, Week 2, August 2010

Carl Batch today revealed to MAW.com the details of a massive six man tag team match which will take place at MAW The Battle Of The Mid Atlantic.

Just a month after losing the Mid Atlantic Championship at the hands of Citizen X (and The Succession), American Patriot will looking to secure himself a rematch instantly. The former champion has put together a team consisting of himself, Brendan Idol and Findlay O’Farraday, and they will take on the three man team put together by the new champion consisting of Cameron Vessey, Casey Valentine and Ricky Douglas. If American Patriot’s team win the match, he will take on Citizen X at MAW Where It All Begins Again for the Mid Atlantic Championship. If the team consisting of C-V-2 and Ricky Douglas win the match, the man who picks up the pinfall or submission will earn themselves a title shot at the anniversary show in October.

Last month at Summer Heatwave, Citizen X shook the hand of Cameron Vessey after The Succession’s assault on American Patriot earlier in the night had assisted him in winning the Mid Atlantic Championship. New champion Citizen X has announced that he will be at Stanley Hall for The Battle Of The Mid Atlantic, and he has promised to explain his shocking decision to join forces with The Succession last month.

MAW THE BATTLE OF THE MID ATLANTIC

Saturday, Week 4, August 2010 – Stanley Hall

Attendance: 188

Marvin Earnest: Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome the new Mid Atlantic Champion... Citizen X!

Boos echo around Stanley Hall as Citizen X’s entrance music begins to play, and the new champion emerges from behind the curtain with the championship belt strapped around his waist. He slowly makes his way down to the ring, laughing off the abuse that he is receiving from the fans. He enters the ring and picks up a microphone.

Marvin Earnest: Citizen X, last month-

Citizen X: Shut up Marvin, you’re not needed here. Sit down and do your job.

The fans boo the new champion’s treatment of Marvin Earnest, who has served MAW well for nearly five years.

Citizen X: From the moment that I arrived at the arena tonight people have been asking me the same question. “Why Citizen X? Why’d ya do it?” You wanna know why I joined forces with The Succession?

Citizen X unstraps the championship belt from around his waist and holds it up with his non-microphone baring hand.

Citizen X: This is why! It doesn’t take a genius to recognise the power that The Succession hold within Mid Atlantic Wrestling. Cameron Vessey, Casey Valentine and Jay Chord... Three of the most promising wrestlers in the world, united as one, the single most powerful force in this company. You don’t believe me? Well I sat on the sidelines for four months because of them. That’s when I realised their power; even if I won the Mid Atlantic Championship without them, they’d have always been there. The only way to get away from this powerful force is to join it.

The new Mid Atlantic Champion takes a pause as boos fills the arena again.

Citizen X: And it wasn’t just for me; this was the perfect deal for everybody involved. You see, back in May, after American Patriot had defeated Cameron Vessey, Vessey got in contact with me. He explained that he knew that The Succession were on the brink of total dominance, but what these youngsters needed was an experienced figurehead to show them the way; to complete the movement, if you will. The Succession is no longer the future of Mid Atlantic Wrestling, it’s the present. In October, at the biggest show of the year, Where It All Begins Again, I will go up against a fellow member of The Succession in what will be the greatest main event in MAW history. I hope you’re over the era of American Patriot, because this is the era of The Succession and Citizen X. D

Callum Jones vs. Jared Johnson

Jared Johnson made his debut last month at Summer Heatwave, proclaiming himself to be the best technical wrestler to ever step foot in an MAW ring before making Keith Vegas tap out to the Carolina Crossface. Tonight he was up against the newest graduate of the Mid Atlantic Boot Camp, Callum Jones, who also made his debut last month with a loss to Kenny Clark. Jared Johnson didn’t waste any time as the match got under way, attacking Jones in a tenacious manner and, much like his performance a month prior, putting his technical ability at the forefront of his display with a variety of Suplexes and holds. Callum Jones struggled to cope with Johnson, and after getting very little offense in throughout the match became the second person to succumb to the Carolina Crossface.

The Atlantic Connection vs. The Class Acts

Johnny Heizenger and Syd Collier were going into the second match as a tag team, after being beaten by The Atlantic Connection in a dark match two months ago, and they were looking to avenge that loss as they took on Curtis Jenkins and Riley McManus again. In the previous match The Atlantic Connection had outwrestled their opponents from the opening bell, and they looked to employ the same tactic in this one as Riley McManus came out of the blocks quickly, dominating Syd Collier in the early moments. The Class Acts worked their way into the match however, proving that they had made improvements as a team since their tag team debut with some intelligent work between the duo. The match was nowhere near as one sided as the first clash had been, with both teams having bright spells throughout the bout; it looked like the match was going the same way as the first when Curtis Jenkins picked up a head of steam against Johnny Heizenger, but when he went for the CJ Slam Heizenger intelligently managed to slip off the shoulders and land behind his opponent. Jenkins span around, but was hit with a devastating Antidote Heizenger quickly picked up the three count.

After picking up the pinfall, Johnny Heizenger picks up a microphone from ringside.

Johnny Heizenger: What you all just witnessed was The Class Acts, and you’re going to be seeing a whole lot of us over the next few years.

Syd Collier: What you just saw is the future of the tag division here in Mid Atlantic Wrestling. Me and Johnny are two of the most gifted, athletic and intelligent prospects to come onto the North American wrestling scene in recent years.

Johnny Heizenger: And we’ve noticed that The Awesomeness haven’t got any opponents lined up yet for Where It All Begins Again. So we figured, what better stage to win our first Mid Atlantic Tag Team Championships than on the fifth anniversary of this company’s formation? What do you say, champs?

Heizenger’s challenge is quickly responded to, as The Awesomeness’ entrance music hits. The Mid Atlantic Tag Team Champions come down to the ring, accompanied by Lisa Bowen, receiving jeers from the crowd fresh from their successful title defence against The Aces Of Mayhem last month.

Huey Cannonball: You want a shot at our titles? I don’t know, what do you think Jeff? Do these guys deserve a shot at our titles?

Jefferson Stardust: No chance! C’mon, look at these guys! The Class Acts, what the hell does that mean?

Huey Cannonball: More like The Ass Hats!

Jefferson Stardust: Come to think about it, the anniversary show is coming up and there isn’t a single tag team awesome enough to challenge for our titles. I mean, we’ve already beaten The Aces Of Mayhem, you’ve got these two losers in the ring... The only team lamer is the one that they just beat! Are you thinkin’ what I’m thinkin’, Huey?

Huey Cannonball: Night off!

Cannonball and Stardust share a cheesy high five, before they are interrupted by an unfamiliar entrance theme. From behind the entrance curtain emerge two wrestlers new to Mid Atlantic Wrestling; both men are well built, one of them has dreadlocks, while the other has short hair and unique face paint. The two men make their way down to the ring, making it a six man party.

Wrestler #1: I‘m not sure about that... I think we’re pretty awesome.

Wrestler #2: Oh yeah, we’re definitely awesome. For those of you who don’t know, we are the newest tag team in Mid Atlantic Wrestling. My name is Apollo and I‘m a proud Puerto Rican, my man Donte here hails from Barbados.

Island Boy Donte: Together we’re The Island Boys, and we’re here to save the MAW fans from you two loudmouths!

The fans seem to have taken to the newest addition to the tag team division, applauding their confident introduction. As The Awesomeness try to respond to Donte’s challenge, Johnny Heizenger also tries to get a word in and the situation threatens to become physical – until Commissioner Carl Batch intervenes.

Carl Batch: That’s it, that’s it! We’ve got a show to run and I will not allow these fans’ time to be wasted with this childish bickering! Huey, Jefferson, Where It All Begins Again is the biggest show of the year and if you two think that you’ll be having the night off then I’ve got some bad news for you, because the Tag Team Championships will be defended, regardless of whether or not the challengers pass your ‘Awesomeness Test’. Now, we’ve got two teams in the ring who want a title shot, but only one of you will be getting that opportunity. So next month at The Clash, we’ll have The Class Acts verses The Island Boys, and the winners will be the number one contenders for the Mid Atlantic Tag Team Championships!

The fans cheer as Carl Batch’s no nonsense approach to running the show is apparent once again. E

Kenny Clark vs. Nomad

Nomad, whose MAW career had gotten off to a fantastic start earlier in the year with consecutive pinfall victories over Jay Chord, was looking to bounce back from his recent loss as he took on a fellow Canadian, Kenny Clark, who was still really looking to kick start his MAW career after an indifferent first six months with the company. Both men looked to outwrestle each other in the early moments of this matchup, contesting several tie ups, all of which came to a stalemate with neither man able to forge an advantage. The match continued in a similar fashion for several minutes, until Nomad managed to get an edge over his countryman and take control of the match. He didn’t dominate for long though, and the match continued to swing either way, with both men getting plenty of offense in throughout the duration of the bout. Kenny Clark looked impressive, and showed definite signs of improvement since his early matches in MAW, but it was Nomad who won the well contested match after hitting the Drift Shift.

Nomad is celebrating his victory in the ring, but his celebrations are cut short by the entrance music of Jay Chord.

Jay Chord: Nomad, last month me and Brett Starr defeated you and that Belgian freak who you associate yourself with, but I’ve still got a score to settle with you. You embarrassed me in the middle of that ring, not once, but twice, and all I can hear is people raving about how Nomad is the future of MAW. It’s time for us to put that myth to bed once and for all, because here’s a news flash: Jay Chord is the future of MAW. I want to punish you, and I want to do it at Where It All Begins Again!

Nomad seems to accept the challenge with a grin and a nod of the head, confirming the first match for the anniversary show in two months time. D

American Patriot, Brendan Idol & Findlay O’Farraday vs. Cameron Vessey, Casey Valentine & Ricky Douglas

For the first time ever, the number one contender for the Mid Atlantic Championship was set to be decided by a six man tag team match, and that match was upon us. The rules were simple; American Patriot had recruited Idol and O’Farraday to wrestle for him, and if his team picked up the victory then he would get his rematch for the Mid Atlantic Championship at Where It All Begins Again. Cameron Vessey, Casey Valentine and Ricky Douglas were all working for Citizen X to ensure that American Patriot didn’t get his rematch, but they knew that whichever one of them got the pinfall would get the title shot at the anniversary show. There was a few interesting sub-plots going into the match; a feud between Brendan Idol and Casey Valentine had been simmering for a few months and Valentine picked up a submission victory over Idol a couple of months ago; Findlay O’Farraday was still seeking revenge on Cameron Vessey after Vessey cost him his match against Ricky Douglas; and, of course, ‘Straight A’ Ricky Douglas had been looking to prove to Carl Batch for months that he was worthy of a shot at the Mid Atlantic Championship. Ricky Douglas started off the match as the legal man, and on the opposite side of the ring was the man looking to reclaim the Mid Atlantic Championship, American Patriot. During the early stages of the match neither team was able to really get a grasp on the match; every time that a particular wrestler did begin to dominate a matchup, the opponent managed to tag in a fresh man to bring us back to square one. The sub-plots were certainly apparent throughout the match, particularly as Findlay O’Farraday was eager to square up with Cameron Vessey, while Vessey was keen to avoid trading blows with O’Farraday while the big brawler was fresh.

The first team to start to dominate the match was the team representing Citizen X, as all three men managed to keep Brendan Idol, the lightest of their opponents, away from his corner as they exchanged the opportunity to wear down the cruiserweight between one another. When Casey Valentine had the opportunity he made a point of targeting the knee, as he had done in a singles match two months ago, but when he looked to apply the Sharpshooter in the centre of the ring Brendan Idol managed to kick him away before scrambling towards his corner and making the tag to Findlay O’Farraday! O’Farraday charged into the ring and put Valentine on the mat with a Clothesline, before turning his attentions to Cameron Vessey on the ring apron. The fans cheered as O’Farraday closed in on Vessey with a grin on his face, but the man adjacent to Vessey, Ricky Douglas, hit O’Farraday with a sucker punch. With O’Farraday off balance, Casey Valentine took him to the mat with a stiff forearm to the back, before tagging in Cameron Vessey and giving his tag team partner the chance to beat up on the man who had accused him of being a coward in recent months. Once again, C-V-2 and Douglas found themselves in a position of dominance and tried to make sure that O’Farraday couldn’t make a tag. They worked effectively as a team for several minutes, but it was only a matter of time before Findlay O’Farraday managed to overpower Ricky Douglas and make the tag to American Patriot, who entered the ring fired up, eager to secure himself another shot at the Mid Atlantic Championship. Patriot took out Douglas with a Lariat, hitting Vessey with the same move when he looked to get involved before sending the final intruder, Casey Valentine, flying over the top rope.

After taking out the two illegal men, American Patriot targeted Ricky Douglas once again and went on the attack for several minutes. However, by the time he looked to put the match to bed with an American Driver, Cameron Vessey had recovered and made sure that the former Mid Atlantic Champion couldn’t hit his finishing maneuver on Douglas. Patriot continued to control the contest, and soon tagged Brendan Idol back into the match, who was moving comfortably despite Valentine’s targeting of the knee moments ago. Brendan Idol hit several high impact moves on Douglas, but when he went for a Springboard Moonsault Douglas managed to get his knees up, driving them into the gut of Idol. Douglas quickly attempted to capitalise on the situation, going for the cover: One... Two... But Cameron Vessey broke up the pin, dragging his partner off of Brendan Idol and denying his a Mid Atlantic Championship shot! Douglas got to his feet, going face to face with Vessey with a furious look on his face, while Casey Valentine tagged himself in with a slap to the back of Douglas. The debate between Ricky Douglas and Cameron Vessey continued, while Valentine went on the attack against Brendan Idol, targeting the knee once again. As Idol tried to get to his feet Valentine forced him towards the turnbuckle with some stiff blows, before lifting him up and tying him up in the tree of woe. Valentine then took a moment to taunt the two illegal men, American Patriot and Findlay O’Farraday, but Idol managed to use his upper body strength to lift himself up into a sitting position on the turnbuckle! Valentine approached Idol, who – from the turnbuckle – delivered a stiff kick to the side of the head, knocking Valentine to the mat. Brendan Idol then climbed up to a standing position on the top turnbuckle, executing a perfect Idolizer his prone opponent! Idol then limped towards his corner and tagged in American Patriot, allowing him to finish Valentine off with the American Driver! Cameron Vessey thought about trying to break up the three count, but Findlay O’Farraday standing in his way made him think twice as Patriot picked up a three count, securing his rematch against Citizen X for Where It All Begins Again!

Post-Show Notes

* In terms of the in-ring action, this obviously wasn’t the most overwhelming show; however, I think everybody has accepted that the focus from here is building up to the anniversary show in two months time; this show did a decent job of that.

* While Brett Starr’s departure caused me a bit of a booking headache, it hasn’t done the backstage morale too much harm. The atmosphere backstage tonight seemed a lot better without him, and the additions of Island Boy Apollo and Donte Dutt also contributed to a really good atmosphere.

* Casey Valentine suffered a floating knee cap during the main event. The early indications from our medical team are that he’ll be sidelined for the September show, but fit to compete at Where It All Begins Again.

* Another referee has come and gone, as Wilson Carlisle has signed an exclusive deal with TCW. This didn’t come as much of a surprise to us; I was aware when we signed him up that he was an extremely talented referee who, sooner or later, would find his way to the big leagues. Widely respected referee Jez McArthuer, who had previously been unemployed, has been recruited to take the reigns as head referee as of next month’s show.

MAW.com: Matches Confirmed For Anniversary Show!

http://i1218.photobucket.com/albums/dd406/MrRagerMAW/MAWcom.jpg

MATCHES CONFIRMED FOR ANNIVERSARY SHOW!

Monday, Week 2, September 2010

Where It All Begins Again is now less than two months away, and the card is taking shape as three matches have been confirmed for the show as of this morning. The Mid Atlantic Championship match between American Patriot and Citizen X will headline the show, after Patriot earned his rematch at The Battle Of The Mid Atlantic, defeating C-V-2 and Ricky Douglas alongside Brendan Idol and Findlay O’Farraday. Brendan Idol will also be in action at the anniversary show, it has been confirmed, as he will take on Casey Valentine in a rematch of a contest which took place in June. Valentine came out on top that time, but Brendan Idol hit the Idolizer on Valentine last month, allowing American Patriot to pick up the pinfall; Brendan Idol is confident that he can pick up the victory this time around, while Casey Valentine has gone on the record of saying that Brendan Idol can’t defeat him in singles competition. Finally, after Nomad accepted Jay Chord’s challenge last month, the two will face at the anniversary show as Jay Chord looks for some payback after being pinned by Nomad twice earlier in the year.

In the meantime, the MAW roster will be preparing for the anniversary show with The Clash later this month, and Carl Batch has revealed that American Patriot will be in a warm-up match for his Mid Atlantic Championship match, taking on former FCW wrestler Joe Benning [Regular Joe], who has been given the opportunity to impress with a trial match. American Patriot will want to pick up another win before his Mid Atlantic Championship match a month later, while Joe Benning will be eager to impress Rip Chord and Carl Batch to secure himself a permanent spot on the MAW roster. Meanwhile, the main event will see Mid Atlantic Champion Citizen X take on Findlay O’Farraday, who assisted American Patriot in securing his title rematch last month, in his first match since winning the title. Findlay O’Farraday has had his issues with Cameron Vessey in recent months, but he’ll have to put those issues to one side if he’s to have any success when he comes up against the new leader of The Succession, Citizen X.

Ahead of his match against Nomad at Where It All Begins Again, Jay Chord will step into the ring and take on Hugh de Aske. The Belgian has forged a close friendship with Nomad since the two debuted earlier in the year, teaming up on two occasions to take on Generation X; now, he’ll be looking to do his friend a favour by picking up a win over Jay Chord a month before their grudge match. Also, as announced by Carl Batch during last month’s show, the number one contenders for the Mid Atlantic Tag Team Championships will be decided, as The Island Boys make their debut against The Class Acts, who looked impressive in their win over Curtis Jenkins and Riley McManus. Both tag teams seem confident that they can be the future of MAW’s tag division, but only one team will get a shot at the titles at Where It All Begins Again.

Brendan Idol will also make an appearance at the show to talk about his upcoming match with Casey Valentine, and although Cameron Vessey will be touring with Golden Canvas Grapping in Japan throughout the month rumours are flying around that he will show up at The Clash to finally confront Findlay O’Farraday.

<em>Saturday, Week 4, September 2010 – Stanley Hall</em></p><p><em>

<strong>Dark Match</strong></p><p><strong>

Brendan Idol vs. Kenny Clark</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

It was a rematch of both men’s debut here; back in February, Brendan Idol defeated Kenny Clark in what had been his first chance to dazzle the fans of Mid Atlantic Wrestling. Seven months on and Idol had achieved relative success in MAW, while Clark was still trying to get his career off the ground with just a couple of wins to his name. Unfortunately, Idol was raring to go ahead of his grudge match against Casey Valentine next month and, after connection with the Idolizer, picked up a win to keep his momentum going.</p><p>

<em>Ahead of his main event bout against Mid Atlantic Champion Citizen X later tonight, Findlay O’Farraday makes his way down to the ring to a great reception from the crowd at Stanley Hall. All months there have been rumours that Cameron Vessey would return from Japan – where he is touring with GCG – to address Findlay O’Farraday, one month in advance of Where It All Begins Again.</em></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Findlay O’Farraday:</strong> Cameron Vessey... Listen, I have no idea whether or not you’re in the building tonight, or whether or not you even had the balls to return to the country for that matter. But if you are here tonight, why don’t you come down here like a man and accept my challenge for a match, Findlay O’Farraday verses Cameron Vessey, next month at Where It All Begins Again?</p><p> </p><p>

<em>There are several seconds of silence as Findlay O’Farraday and everybody else in the arena waits for a response from Cameron Vessey. There is no response from The Second Generation Superstar – there is, however, a response from commissioner Carl Batch.</em></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Carl Batch:</strong> Findlay, I know that you want to get your revenge on Cameron Vessey, but that will have to wait. We all know that Cameron has been touring with Golden Championship Grappling in Japan this month, and as far as I’m aware, he is not in Stanley Hall tonight. Don’t worry about that though, he doesn’t need to accept your challenge, because I’m going to make the match right now! Next month at Where It All Begins Again, you will get your match against Cameron Vessey!</p><p> </p><p>

<em>The fans go wild and Findlay O’Farraday rubs his hands together with a smile on his face, as he will finally get his match with Cameron Vessey next month.</em></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Carl Batch:</strong> Now Findlay, I suggest that you go and get ready for your match with Citizen X later tonight! <strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">D-</span></strong></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>American Patriot vs. Joe Benning [Regular Joe]</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

A month in advance of his rematch for the Mid Atlantic Championship, American Patriot was taking on Joe Benning, a youngster with a decent look who had previously wrestled for FREEDOM Caribbean Wrestling; for much of his career he had been dubbed ‘Regular Joe’, but was looking to shake off that tag and make an impact in MAW. He’d been given a tryout to impress Carl Batch and Rip Chord, and was looking to impress them by upsetting American Patriot. The former Mid Atlantic Champion didn’t seem to be in the mood to be upset, though; from the moment the opening bell rang he was all over Benning like a rash, looking to wrestle him into the ground and send a message to Citizen X ahead of their title showdown next month at the anniversary show. Benning got a couple of moves in throughout the match, but really wasn’t given much of a chance to prove himself to the MAW authorities by American Patriot. The former champion picked up the pinfall victory after hitting the Backdrop Driver.</p><p>

<strong>Number One Contenders Match</strong></p><p><strong>

The Class Acts vs. The Island Boys</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

The MAW fans were getting their first chance to watch the newest addition to the tag team division, The Island Boys, as they made their MAW debuts against the team of Johnny Heizenger and Syd Collier – now calling themselves The Class Acts. The Class Acts had defeated Curtis Jenkins and Riley McManus last month, but now had to prove their worth against the exciting young talents of Apollo and Donte. The energetic Donte kicked off the match across the ring from Syd Collier, and had the chance to display some of his fantastic athletic ability as well as his decent brawling – presumably the skills which landed him with the nickname ‘The Barbadian Barbarian’. It wasn’t long before Apollo was tagged in and got a chance to show the MAW fans what he could do, and much like his partner his in-ring work was based heavily on his energetic brawling. The Island Boys worked well together and dominated the early stages of the match, but Johnny Heizenger single handily turned the tables when he caught Donte – who was looking for a Flying Crossbody – and slammed him down to the mat with force. Both teams managed a solid amount of offence throughout the match, each making a case that they are the best up-and-coming tag team in the company. Ultimately, it was The Island Boys who managed to pick up the victory, rounding off an impressive debut as Apollo got the pinfall over Collier after hitting the Puerto Rican Bomb [sitout Powerbomb].</p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p>*****</p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

<em>There is surprise as the entrance music of Casey Valentine, who got injured at The Battle Of The Mid Atlantic last month, begins to play. Valentine emerges from behind the entrance curtain in a casual attire, walking with the aid of a crutch and a clear grimace on his face as he makes his way down to the ring. He enters the ring and picks up a microphone.</em></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Casey Valentine:</strong> Last month, at The Battle Of The Mid Atlantic, I was doing what I love; wrestling. I was wrestling for the chance to get a shot at the Mid Atlantic Championship, yet one man tried to hurt me. Brendan Idol tried to injure me; he tried to end my career! Idol tried to take away my career, and he tried to take away what I love most in the entire world! I’m currently suffering from a floating kneecap at the hands of Brendan Idol, but it could have been so much worse. Next month I take on Brendan Idol at Where It All Begins Again... And Brendan, I promise you, I’m going to hurt you next month. When I lock in the Sharpshooter and you tap out, I’m not going to let go. I’m going to keep it locked in and keep applying pressure to your knee until it’s destroyed, and you can never step foot in a wrestling ring again! <strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">D</span></strong></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Hugh de Aske vs. Jay Chord</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

Next month Jay Chord had the match which he’d been awaiting since Nomad scored two pinfall victories over him, and tonight Chord had the chance to take out Nomad’s closest acquaintance on the roster, Hugh de Aske. Hugh de Aske had teamed with Nomad to successfully defeat Generation X on one occasion, and from the start of this match Jay Chord looked like he was eager to hurt the man who had associated himself with Nomad earlier in the year, immediately going on the offensive and looking to punish the Belgian. He may have underestimated his opponent though, or simply shown a bit of inexperience, as Chord’s hotheadedness allowed de Aske to make a counter early on in the match and take control of the affair. Hugh de Aske enjoyed a spell of dominance following the counter, albeit a short lived spell of dominance as he took on one of the top young talents in Mid Atlantic Wrestling. Once Jay Chord got himself back into the match he made sure that he didn’t slip up and allow de Aske to control the tie again. It was two count after two count for Jay Chord as Hugh de Aske continued to kick out; however, after Chord hit the Cradle Piledriver on Hugh de Aske it was lights out, and Chord picked up the victory ahead of his grudge match with Nomad next month.</p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p>*****</p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

<em>Jay Chord’s theme music hits after his victory over Hugh de Aske, but he isn’t done as he drops to his knees and delivers a series of stiff forearms to de Aske, who is defenceless. Jay Chord drags the man who he has just defeated to his feet and towards the turnbuckle, before hoisting him up into a seated position on the top turnbuckle. Receiving boos from the majority of the fans inside Stanley Hall, Chord grasped the head of Hugh de Aske before giving him a DDT from the turnbuckle, driving his head into the mat! Hugh de Aske lay on the mat motionless, as the ruthless Jay Chord stood over him, repeating the words, “you can thank Nomad for that”.</em> <strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">F+</span></strong></p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p>*****</p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

<em>A few minutes have passed since Hugh de Aske received a Super DDT at the hands of Jay Chord and an official is attending to de Aske, who appears to be regaining his senses. The entrance music of Ricky Douglas hits and ‘Straight A’ – who isn’t scheduled for a match tonight – makes his way down to the ring to a chorus of boos from the MAW fans.</em></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Ricky Douglas:</strong> Ladies and gentlemen, next month is the biggest show of the MAW calendar. Where It All Begins Again, the five year anniversary of the company’s foundation. Yet the performer of the year, Ricky Douglas, doesn’t have a match. How do you explain that? The biggest show of the year and the I don’t have a match. Everybody knows that I deserve a shot at the Mid Atlantic Championship, and if it weren’t for that idiot Cameron Vessey I’d be getting one, but I don’t have a match. Heck, I wasn’t even booked tonight and Carl Batch is wasting ring time on this chump who just got destroyed by Jay Chord. I deserve to be the face of this company, yet I’m sitting in the back while these amateurs try to wrestle!</p><p> </p><p>

<em>Hugh de Aske forces himself up to his feet, clearly struggling after the assault that he received at the hands of Jay Chord but squaring up to Ricky Douglas.</em></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Hugh de Aske:</strong> You want a match next month? How about you take on this ‘chump’ and we see how good you really are?</p><p> </p><p>

<em>Ricky Douglas seems offended that de Aske has even asked him for a match, laughing off the challenge and shaking his head. Hugh de Aske retaliates, punching Douglas in the mouth and knocking him to the floor, sending the MAW fans into a frenzy! Ricky Douglas sits on the floor with a look of fury across his face.</em></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Hugh de Aske:</strong> See you next month... ‘chump’.</p><p> </p><p>

<em>de Aske drops the microphone to the mat, aiming a steely stare at Ricky Douglas before leaving the ring, still massaging his neck after the damage that Chord’s DDT did.</em> <strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">E-</span></strong></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Citizen X vs. Findlay O’Farraday</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

Findlay O’Farraday was going into the main event with a chip off his shoulder, safe in the knowledge that he’d get his shot at revenge over Cameron Vessey next month at Where It All Begins Again; he had to be focused tonight, as he took on Mid Atlantic Champion Citizen X, and a win could potentially put him in line for a shot at the title later in the year. For Citizen X, this match represented a good opportunity to prepare himself for American Patriot’s rematch for the title at next month’s anniversary show. The match got off to a slow start, Citizen X knew that it would be rash to be overly eager against his bruiser of an opponent. The new champion picked his spots and came out on top in the first few minutes of the match, using his intelligence (and a few dirty tricks from up his sleeve) to overcome the sheer muscle of Findlay O’Farraday. This was a recurring theme throughout the match; O’Farraday began to overpower his opponent and put himself into a favourable position, but he never managed to dominate the contest for a sustained period as the champion always managed to pull off a trick to get himself back on top of the match. Citizen X never gave Findlay O’Farraday a chance to think about finishing the match off, and it the champion who eventually managed to build real momentum as the match began to reach a conclusion. During the spell of dominance he went for the pinfall on several occasions, but was only able to pick up two counts as his opponent put on a resilient display.</p><p> </p><p>

Findlay O’Farraday had taken a lot of damage, and Citizen X indicated that he was ready to put the match to bed as he signalled for the Flaming Anarchy, pounding his elbow as he waits to plant it into his opponent’s face. O’Farraday slowly got to his feet, turning towards his opponent, but as Citizen X went for the Flaming Anarchy he walked into an explosive Clothesline out of nowhere! After his finishing move was countered powerfully, Citizen X was motionless on the ground and the match looked like it was O’Farraday’s for the taking. The fans were on their feet as O’Farraday stalked Citizen X, waiting for him to get to his feet so that he could deliver his feared Atomic Spinebuster. Suddenly, after having jumped the barricade, Cameron Vessey slid into the ring and delivered a stiff steel chair shot to the back of Findlay O’Farraday! Referee Jez McArthuer promptly called for the bell, disqualifying Citizen X due to the interference!</p><p>

<em>Findlay O’Farraday attempts to get back to his feet, but Cameron Vessey puts him back on the mat with another steel chair shot, this time to the head! Boos ring around the arena as Vessey drops the steel chair, before beginning to stomp at O’Farraday’s prone body, soon being joined by Citizen X as he recovers from the massive Clothesline that he just received. The assault continues, and the boos get louder and louder, until American Patriot sprints down the entrance ramp to make the save! As he gets to the bottom the aisle and slides into the ring, Citizen X quickly escapes while Cameron Vessey tries to battle him. Vessey delivers a few punches, before going for a Clothesline, but Patriot ducks underneath. As Vessey spins around to face Patriot, the former Mid Atlantic Champion connects with a kick to the gut before giving Vessey an American Driver! Citizen X retrieves his Mid Atlantic Championship belt from ringside before making his way for the entrance ramp, wasting no time in getting to the back. As he gets to the top of the entrance ramp he turns round and looks back at American Patriot, who is standing over Cameron Vessey’s body with a grin on his face.</em> <strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">D-</span></strong></p><p> </p><p>

<p>MAW.com: Where It All Begins Again 2010 Preview</p><p> </p><p>

<strong><span style="font-size:24px;">WHERE IT ALL BEGINS AGAIN 2010 PREVIEW</span></strong></p><p><strong>

Monday, Week 3, October 2010</strong></p><p> </p><p>

MAW Where It All Begins Again 2010 is now less than two weeks away, and as everybody at Mid Atlantic Wrestling prepares to celebrate six years in business we take a close look at the six exciting matches which have been confirmed for the anniversary show.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">Mid Atlantic Championship Match – American Patriot vs. Citizen X ©</span></strong></p><p>

This is a feud which has been brewing since January, when Citizen X won the Rip Chord Invitational. A month later Citizen X was sidelined by an assault at the hands of Cameron Vessey and Casey Valentine, but it was during his absence that he seemingly struck a deal with The Succession to become their leader. In July at Summer Heatwave, The Succession launched an assault on American Patriot before Citizen X capitalised on the injuries later in the night to win the Mid Atlantic Championship, ending American Patriot’s year long reign and becoming a two-time champion himself. American Patriot was quick to seal himself a rematch, as his team of himself, Brendan Idol and Findlay O’Farraday would go on to defeat C-V-2 and Ricky Douglas at The Battle Of The Mid Atlantic. At Where It All Begins Again, Patriot will be looking to cut Citizen X’s title reign short and be crowned as a two-time Mid Atlantic Champion.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">No Holds Barred – Cameron Vessey vs. Findlay O’Farraday</span></strong></p><p>

The animosity between these two men all started with a backstage confrontation ahead of Cameron Vessey’s Mid Atlantic Championship match in May; a month later, after Vessey had failed to capture the Mid Atlantic Championship, he cost Findlay O’Farraday an important match against Ricky Douglas, and O’Farraday has been hunting for revenge ever since. The feud was escalated last month as Cameron Vessey interfered in Findlay O’Farraday’s non-title match against Citizen X, delivering steel chair shots to the back and head of O’Farraday, but just days later Carl Batch revealed that this match would now be a No Holds Barred match. Now, at the anniversary show, Findlay O’Farraday will have the opportunity to hand out some real punishment to Cameron Vessey in what is sure to be a brutal battle.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">Brendan Idol vs. Casey Valentine</span></strong></p><p>

This is another feud which has been brewing for the better part of 2010, which started due to Casey Valentine’s jealousy of Brendan Idol after the cruiserweight was placed into a number one contender match just months into his MAW tenure. The two clashed in June, at MAW Fan Festival, and on that occasion Casey Valentine prevailed with an impressive performance, targeting Idol’s knee and forcing him to submit with his feared Sharpshooter. The feud was reignited two months ago, when the two were on opposing teams in a six man tag team match and Idol injured Valentine’s knee as he helped his team to victory; now, ahead of the grudge match at Where It All Begins Again, Casey Valentine has vowed to do serious damage to Brendan Idol, threatening to lock in the Sharpshooter until Idol can ‘never step foot in a wrestling ring again’.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">Jay Chord vs. Nomad</span></strong></p><p>

Nomad made a very impressive MAW debut back in April of this year when he picked up a victory over Jay Chord, in what was seen by many as a big upset. Just a month later the Canadian picked up a second pinfall victory, this time in a tag team match, and Jay Chord’s anger continued to build. While Generation X scored a victory in a rematch against Nomad and Hugh de Aske, Chord still doesn’t feel that he has revenge over Nomad and will get the opportunity to as the two face off in another singles match at Where It All Begins Again.</p><p> </p><p>

Since winning the Tag Team Championships in November of last year, The Awesomeness have managed to defend the gold against all comers. However, the emergence of two new tag teams in recent months has posed a new threat for the champions, and after winning their debut match The Island Boys will get a shot at the titles in MAW’s biggest event of the year. Despite only having wrestled one match for the company, the general belief is that the team of Apollo and Donte is cause for excitement in the tag team division, and the duo have the chance to make a huge impact as they wrestle for the Tag Team Championships at the anniversary show.</p><p> </p><p>

Ricky Douglas has had an impressive year so far in Mid Atlantic Wrestling, finally breaking through as a singles competitor after having most of his success in tag team action in recent years. Douglas feels that he should be main eventing the anniversary show, but it was Hugh de Aske who stood up to Douglas last month after being called a chump. The Belgian himself hasn’t been spectacular since his debut early this year, but a victory over Douglas could be exactly what de Aske needs to kick start his MAW career.</p><p> </p><p>

Two pre-show matches have also been confirmed, as Ace Youngblood will take on Jared Johnson, while a six man tag team match will see Kenny Clark team up with The Class Acts to take on Callum Jones and The Atlantic Connection. To top off the night, MAW founder and owner Rip Chord will be making an appearance at the sixth anniversary of MAW’s establishment!</p><p> </p><p>

<em>OOC: Just a heads up, the next show probably won’t be up for about a week or so due to exams (I usually find myself with a spare couple of hours during the week and write up the show in beast mode, but because I haven’t got much spare time over the next couple of weeks I’m having to type up a little bit every day). I just thought I’d do this preview to bridge the gap between the last post and the next post, and also just to jog everybody’s memory about the feuds leading into the show.</em></p><p><em> </em></p><p><em>

Also, I hope people don’t find my multi-paragraph match write ups too boring, I reckon there will be a few in the next show.</em> <img alt=":o" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/redface.png.900245280682ef18c5d82399a93c5827.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p>
