DOTT - The New Frontier

Recommended Posts

Disclaimer: Though not a diary per se, it's more of a prequel to a 1987 dynasty I'll be doing once Genadi's mod comes out.

It was a year of new frontiers...

The year was 1983 and many wrestling promoters were twiddling their thumbs, some for optimistic reasons, others not so much. Vince McMahon of the World Wrestling Federation had an innovative new idea waiting in the works for the month of March and that was the first ever Wrestling Pay-Per-View, Wrestlemania. McMahon was sweating bullets over the idea, he currently had Madison Square Garden, the entertainment capitol of the world, booked for the event. And in this current state of the wrestling world (C- and falling,) it just might take a miracle to pull it off.

Other promotors such as Jim Crockett and MACW were growing concerned over McMahon, a business risk-taker. It was widely rumored that based on the success of Wrestlemania, McMahon would split from the NWA and forge on to become the world's premier Wrestling promotion. Crockett and the other NWA promoters had to formulate a plan to prevent the split and keep the traditional style of American wrestling promoting alive and well.

With Wrestlemania only 3 months away, it was only a matter of time until the future of the wrestling business would be revealed...
