WARNING! ~GAMMA: From The Beginning~ Spoiler!

I'm using the Feb 12 patch

I just noticed from one of my events that a fight that went two minutes got FOTN over two other worthy candidates. Here's a screen:

I know the fight that won FOTN was the highest rated fight at "great" and the next two fights were only both "good". However, I would think most promotions would think one of the longer, decently entertaining fights was more deserving of a bonus than a fight in which on fighter dominated the short two minutes it lasted.

I'm not sure how it would be implemented since he AI obviously just takes the highest rated fight (or selects from one if there are ties) but it should be possible. Obviously there is an algorithm for breaking ties so a similar algorithm could be used to rule out extremely short fights and fights where one fighter dominated a relatively short fight.

I do, however, think that a short fight could qualify as FOTN if a certain set of circumstances were present. For example, none of the fights except the short fight were rated better than average or decent and the short fight was rated great or better. Or, the short fight could have had several knockdowns in a short period, at least one by each fighter, and was the highest rated fight (or tied) for that show.

Outiside of those mentioned above, I think relative short fights (five minutes or less) should be barred from receiving FOTN honors...

The fight was the most entertaining of the night, due to the "great" rating it got, why should a fight that was considered less entertaining, at "good" be considered over a fight that was more entertaining?

I'd rather watch an entertaining 3 minute fight, than a mediocre 15 minute fight.

Well, you are basing your judgement on the approval rating the fans gave it which is solely based off of the excitement in the fight. That rating isn't saying the fans felt that was the best fight, just the most exciting. Those are two completely diffderent things.

I'm sure Todd Duffee's 7 second KO would have received a "Fantastic" rating from the fans but there is zero chance the UFC ever considered giving Duffee FOTN honors. I thought the Couture-Big Nog fight was good, maybe great, but I think WMMA3 would have given it a lower rating than the Duffee KO just because big KO's score bigger with the fans, especially in the game.

The other problem is that this was a one-sided fight. Stanley was firing punches from the beginning and eventually caught Cobblepot and finished him. Cobblepot did little but duck punches until he got caught. Here's the transcript:

>Moving on to the next match, in which 'The Pit Bull' Rick Stanley squares off with 'Jackpot' Jack Cobblepot in the GAMMA Openweight division.

>The winner moves on to the finals of tonight's tournament.

>The fight begins!

>Advancing, Cobblepot counters a left jab by using a right.

>Cobblepot moves out of range of a tidy combination of punches.

>Cobblepot steps back to avoid a barrage of big punches.

>Stanley looks like he wants to stand in the pocket and strike with Cobblepot.

>Cobblepot seems happy to engage with Stanley in the pocket.

>Stanley dodges a jab, and fires back with a barrage of huge punches, knocking Cobblepot down!

>Moving quickly, Stanley secures mount!

>Stanley pounds away on Cobblepot.

>Cobblepot had better start defending himself, or this will be over!

>With Cobblepot stuck and taking a pounding, the referee has to stop the match!

>By TKO, the winner is Rick Stanley!

>Official Result: 'The Pit Bull' Rick Stanley defeats 'Jackpot' Jack Cobblepot (TKO (Strikes) in 2:23 of round 1). The match was rated as being Great.

Cobblepot threw two punches, one landed but didn't seem to be a power punch and the other was a jab that misssed. I just don't see how he earned FOTN honors...

I see what you're saying and I agree that it's an issue. The game needs a better way of calculating which fights truly deserve FOTN honors. Maybe add in a number of hidden requirements for a fight to be considered FOTN? The requirements could be something like these: one fighter has to make a good comeback, there has to be a certain amount of action and the fight has to be a certain length, and there has to be a good action-to-length ratio. There could also be a requirement where the fight has to contain a flashy move somewhere. Obviously one fight can't fulfill every possible FOTN requirement that there could be, but it could be given to whatever fight comes closest to doing so.

I would like the ability to hand out my own "of the night" awards and to have them mean something. Maybe the fighters have hidden bankrolls and the more money they make, the better camps they can train at. I think it is too cosmetic right now.

Rather than having a hidden bankroll, have career earnings recorded and shown. I agree - I would much prefer to award FOTN, SOTN & KOTN myself too

Here's another one-sided, short FOTN winner:

>Moving on to the next match, in which Stan 'The Man' Blackheath will take on Nash 'Crash' Harbane in the GAMMA Openweight division.

>There's the opening bell!

>Blackheath hits a crisp left jab.

>A jab misses and Blackheath counters with a stinging left jab.

>There's a short stalemate as both fighters advance and throw strikes, but neither hits.

>A jab misses and Blackheath counters with a couple of hard rights!

>Blackheath hits a nice crisp left jab.

>Harbane is knocked off his feet by several big right hands from close range!

>Blackheath senses victory and starts to unload with punches!

>Blackheath is simply pounding away on Harbane.

>Harbane is barely able to do anything at all, he is getting destroyed!

>The referee gives Harbane time to do something, but eventually has to come in and stop the fight!

>Stan 'The Man' Blackheath takes the win by TKO!

>Official Result: Stan 'The Man' Blackheath defeats Nash 'Crash' Harbane (TKO (Strikes) in 2:57 of round 1). The match was rated as being Great.
