Comradebot Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 Curious, does Adam Ryland think Dallas is the only city in Texas? Just noticing while searching for future employees of the SWC, and I noticed something peculiar... Marshall Dillon, Bradley Blaze, Texas Hangman (who hasn't debuted yet, but I just looked up), and "Cowboy" Buck Winchester are all from Dallas, and the tag team name "Dallas Wrecking Crew" leads me to believe its possible The Idaho Punisher and Rick Sanders very well may be from Dallas as well. On the other hand, the only other Texas based wrestlers I can think of in the C-Verse, Texas Pete, Ricky Dale Johnson, and Dazzling Dave Diamond, are all just mentioned as being from Texas in general, but no specific part of it. You'd think there'd be at least one or two guys from places like Houston, San Antonio, or even Austin. (Personally, I'd like to think RDJ hails from San Antonio). So what's the deal? Do folks in the UK (or heck, anywhere outside of this great state) associate Dallas with Texas more-so than any other region? Is Adam Ryland secretly a huge fan of the old TV show Dallas (which was filmed in Houston)? If so, how come we're yet to see a character in the C-Verse based off the gloriously awesome J.R. Ewing? And, considering I want to bring in some Texas folks to SWC, who then could be MY J.R. Ewing? Dazzling Dave has the charisma, but Buck Winchester has the awesome name and awesome stetson. These are the important questions, here, people.
FlameSnoopy Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 Important topic. I cannot believe anyone hasn't taken this issue seriously sooner jk Personally, when I (from Finland, the country somewhere up north) hear Texas, I always connect it to Houston. Then San Antonio, then Austin. Then I run out of cities to connect it to. Just my one cent.
thug saint oga Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 it's probably because Dallas is the greatest city in the world..... (yes, I am from Dallas)
Comradebot Posted April 1, 2011 Author Posted April 1, 2011 it's probably because Dallas is the greatest city in the world..... (yes, I am from Dallas) I'm from Houston, but been all over the great state. And I can say with all fairness, San Antonio kicks the crap out of Dallas. Hands down the best city I've ever been to (suck it, Rome).

Zeel1 Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 Well on his C-Verse site profile, it's mentioned that RDJ was born in Victoria... I sort of figure Dazzling Dave might be from Dallas as well. Partly because of it continuing the theme of D's, and partly because both his name and his "started wrestling late but intends to make every second of it count from here on out" story remind me of Dallas Page...
Teh_Showtime Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 We all know Ohio > Texas but at least there are CV characters from Texas
Remianen Posted April 2, 2011 Posted April 2, 2011 We all know Ohio can't see Texas Fixed. Is the statewide year of mourning over? Oh wait, no, "The Decision" happened less than a year ago. Seems like something done for ease. I think it would've required a lot more thought to say, "This worker's from Katy. And this worker's from Amarillo. And this worker's from El Paso. And this worker's from Grapevine." Plus, then you'd probably have someone who'd ask, "Why aren't there any workers from Laredo?" or some such. Better to keep it general and let the players come up with their own backstories. Just give them a jumping off point ("Big Texan"....GO!).

I think this when I play WMMA... where's the guy from Buffalo. I've been searching.

BurningHamster Posted April 2, 2011 Posted April 2, 2011 Everyone knows the best Texan wrestlers generally come from Amarillo or Sweetwater.
FlameSnoopy Posted April 2, 2011 Posted April 2, 2011 Everyone knows the best Texan wrestlers generally come from Amarillo or Sweetwater. What's this crap now. The best Texan wrestler and the best ever wrestler is from Austin. So, Austin > all.
BHK1978 Posted April 2, 2011 Posted April 2, 2011 Why are people from Texas so proud of their state? Hell I hate my state but at least we are home to the SWF's developmental territory.
TNhellbilly88 Posted April 2, 2011 Posted April 2, 2011 i personally like to think that Texas doesn't exist when playing (i've been there and hated it, never so glad to see the Tennessee state line then after i had to go to Texas)
Mr T Jobs To Me Posted April 2, 2011 Posted April 2, 2011 I think most Texan wrestlers would come from the roughneck towns outside of the major urban areas. And having spent 4 months in Texas and 25 years in Ohio, I can safely say Texas >>>>>>> Ohio.
Nedew Posted April 2, 2011 Posted April 2, 2011 To be fair CB, how many places in Scotland can you name without consulting Wikipedia? Or places in England? Or Wales? At a guess you'll get Glasgow and Edinburgh for Scotland 'cause they're the famous ones, London and Liverpool (The Beatles ), and absolutely nowhere in Wales The geography of Texas just isn't that big a deal for us over here, just as we're probably the same for you

NEDEW.. HAS.. FINALLY.. COME BACK. TO GREYDOG FORUMS?
Nedew Posted April 2, 2011 Posted April 2, 2011 Does this mean.. NEDEW.. HAS.. FINALLY.. COME BACK. TO GREYDOG FORUMS? I spent about 6 months away, then lurked for a while, then got too frustrated at not being able to post But let's not derail the thread

LoganRodzen Posted April 2, 2011 Posted April 2, 2011 Some questions will never have answers when it comes to the C-Verse. That's just how it goes. One of my questions is... why is the NEW HAMPSHIRE Garden formerly the facility for the the MAINE Drifters? I'm sure Adam realizes these are two different states.
Adam Ryland Posted April 2, 2011 Posted April 2, 2011 why is the NEW HAMPSHIRE Garden formerly the facility for the the MAINE Drifters? I'm sure Adam realizes these are two different states. They're called the Drifters, wouldn't you expect them to end up in unusual places??
