Blurcat's Rankings

Just testing out something in Excel, but just whack up the rankings of a random division in your game (top five, top ten, top whatever). It's interesting to see where everyone else's game is.

I do realise I put Sherdog in the title... :p

Really like what you've done with that, looks great.

Haha cheers, I guess I have too much time on my hands for a guy doing a law degree...

Where do you guys do those weird images anyways? And why am I creeped out by them?

Render in a program called DAZ. Every right to be creeped out, I am myself...

Very nice. Is that Teatas wire net age? I got a psd from something I'm working on if you want to do a quick re-tex...

The Cage? I think it is from the M-X Fighter pack. Is Teatas better?

Posted

I think I got the names in my runtime mixed up lol I usually rename them for an easy find, but now I can't seem to find the cage on renderosity or anywhere else:confused:

It's the cage that says Deathmatch on the side...

Posted

Is this the cage you have?

http://www.renderosity.com/mod/bcs/index.php?ViewProduct=78269

I'm hoping to get that soon, mostly because of the corner padding.

Here's a quick look at mine. I still need to texture the side, which you can't see in the pic, but the mat is done. I think it came out alright:D

http://i1128.photobucket.com/albums/m481/Lucky_Holsten/WCF_Cage.png

This one was a bit of a pain to re-tex cause the mat was just a big square so I had to figure out where everything lined up, but now that I got a psd saved it's pretty easy to re-tex.

I just realized it's not an octagon:eek:

Posted
Yeah that's the one I've got - it came with the gloves. Not got around to trying to change the texture, so I'm stuck with the purple monstrosity for GAMMA haha.
Posted
The gloves are another reason I want it. I'm still using the powerage gloves. I could just keep re-texing them but they are getting kind of old lol The shorts are not bad either.

You know that theory (forgot its name) that says that Humans are not creeped out by things that try to be human but obviously fail in various aspects (like appearance, way of acting, etc), but that get extremely repulsed at things that try to be Human, act in a lot of ways like humans but fail in very small aspects, which causes you repulse? That's the feeling that image gave me.

Not meaning to offend, though, good work, I would also do one of these if I wasn't so lazy.

Uncanny valley.

Uncanny valley is a theory that basically means that at a certain point where a creature or a robot looks and acts a lot like humans, but are not actually humans, it becomes disgusting to us humans. So for example a very lifelike robot would be nasty and ugly and all that, but a robot that looked and acted like just a robot, wouldn't.

On topic: you silenced all the other contributors again, Scotty. Nobody dares try after that one! I may give it a shot at some point, once I come up with an idea (or somebody else does, and I can copy that :p) for how the rankings screen should look.

Got it. But I got one more question. How does all that tie to the Photo.

Posted
It doesn't apply to Robos only, basically, what I mean is that the fighters in the Photo looks really human, but the small failures in it (from the engine) make it creepy, at least in my eyes.

Hey Adam, if Scottie is't in the process of making the games, he should be now. That looks amazing and would be awesome to somehow incorporate into a future game. My hats off to you, Scottie.

Heavyweight division as of June 9, 2003:

http://i995.photobucket.com/albums/af77/gammadiary/Heavyweight.jpg

Came across this on the my Photobucket account, so thought I'd do a quick "Where Are They Now" as of August 2010. Also a blatant bump of the thread, too. :p

1. Christopher Sharp (30-7, 7-5 since July 2003)

Then undisputed as the best fighter on the planet, Sharp has found things very tough over the past seven years having been stopped by strikes on four occasions. He remained on two losses until November 2006 when Sherwin Bond finished him in the second round. Including that fight, he's gone 2-5 in his past seven fights but still remains a draw despite coming off back-to-back losses. He's rarely been allowed a cheap victory, with his last four losses coming against former wrestling star Derek Nelson, Bond, Zvonimir Asanovic and former heavyweight champ Nate MacReary.

2. Omar Khan (9-0, 4-0)

One of MMA's "what might have been" stories, Khan retired in 2007 undefeated at the age of just 38. Despite never competing under either GAMMA or the defunct ALPHA-1 banner, Khan holds victories over GAMMA alumni Khru Duangjan, Gunnar Nilsson, Sam Hoynes and Zvonimir Asanovic.

3. Aleksander Ivanov (11-5-2, 5-5)

Talk about a massive fall from grace. Undefeated back in 2003, Ivanov went on a three-fight losing streak in 2006-07 which led to his release from KBIL and started his FLB run off on a bad note. Since then, he's recovered to be 3-1 in his past four fights as he now fights in North America with the Maryland-based promotion CAPITOL.

4. Elzo Alves Moura (19-7-2, 8-7-2)

The 36-year old Brazilian star once looked unbeatable, before a horror five fight run in 2004-06 saw him go 0-3-2 and led to his release from ALPHA-1 and an unsuccessful stint with KBIL. He rehabilitated his reputation with a 5-2 run in SIGMA (including a victory over Rav Kapur) before finally making three appearances under the GAMMA banner. After beating former heavyweight champ Tim Boyer in his first fight, he met Christopher Sharp at GAMMA 96 in a dream fight that was about five years too late. A TKO loss to Murilo Satinho ended his stint in GAMMA, and he officially announced his retirement after a second round stoppage win at a small Brazilian MMA show in May 2010.

5. Duey Roth (16-9, 1-6)

Still active at 48-years of age, Roth holds just one win since 2003 - a first round submission over little known fighter Mitchell Imes at a small show in the US. After an 0-3 skid in 2004 in GAMMA, Roth has fought in Japan and Brazil to no avail. His most recent defeat came to former GAMMA Gladiator Marc Hassett at a Pankration show back in May.

6. James Foster (23-8, 7-6)

Much like Sharp, Foster has seen his stocks fall but he is still the #14 ranked heavyweight and a big draw in GAMMA. Immediately following the above post, he went 0-3 to Sharp, Nilsson and Bond, and then dropped a fight to MacReary two fights later. Despite that, he's dropped just two fights since 2007 with big name wins over Duangjan and Asanovic. He also boasts a win over current heavyweight champ Axel Gusmao back in 2006.

7. Armen Sarkisian (19-2, 3-1)

Another of the retired old guard, the Armenian gave it away in June of last year at just 38 years of age in the headline act of an Armenian local show. His two defeats came back-to-back in Pankration to Grzegorz Boniek and Jutaro Honma. A mainstay in Pankration, Sarkisian made fifteen appearances under the Japanese banner without ever moving on to the big leagues.

8. Zvonimir Asanovic (37-7-1, 7-4-1)

One of the few fighters to hold a fairly strong record since 2003, Asanovic is currently in the midst of a second stint in GAMMA after going 2-0 back in 2003-04. After Omar Khan became the first person to beat him in nine years back in 2006, Asanovic returned to GAMMA and has headlined three pay-per-views in a 2-3 stint. He holds wins over Gustaf Persson and Sharp, but is recovering from knee surgery after being KOed by Khru Duangjan at GAMMA 110 in Australia.

9. Grzegorz Boniek (36-10, 10-4)

Much like Sarkisian, Boniek spent most of his career in Pankration before finally signing a lengthy deal with ALPHA-1 in 2008. He produced an indifferent record of 3-2 under that banner before it was purchased by GAMMA. He made one appearance - at GAMMA 117 - where he dropped a split decision to Souleymane Ya Konan in the prelims. He retired after the fight.

10. Murilo Satinho (19-3, 7-3)

Still only 29, Satinho still has a good chance to solidify his legacy in MMA despite an indifferent start to his career in GAMMA. After going undefeated in over ten years, Satinho was thrust straight into the deep end against Gunnar Nilsson at GAMMA 78. Almost unbackable against the retiring Nilsson, Satinho looked set to pound the Swede out in the first round before, inexplicably, searching for an armbar. He was finished in three-and-a-half minutes by the stunned Swede, and from there his aura was gone. Good wins over Asanovic and Moura keeps him ranked #22, but back-to-back losses to Axel Gusmao and Sadatake Hiro keep him a few fights away from contention.

Just got back into my game, might as well contribute something here! LHW is the with the fewest regens in the top 10, so I'll go with that.

Blurcat Light Heavyweight Rankings 6-1-11

#1: Marlon John- 93% Reputation, 42-4

At GAMMA 197, John defended his Light Heavyweight title for a GAMMA-record 9th consecutive time, besting Mike Watson by TKO in 3:17 of the 1st round. It's John's 4th time holding the belt.

#2: Matti Kurri- 85% Reputation, 24-3-1

Kurri also had a recent title defense, besting Gyukodo Tesigahara by TKO in 1:46 of the 3rd round to make his 3rd defense in his third go-round with the SIGMA LHW title.

#3: Hunter Scribbins- 73% Reputation, 24-5

After moving up a weight class in 2004, Scribbins continued to dominate and held the SIGMA title until losing it to Kurri in 2010. Scribbins had one more fight with SIGMA before jumping ship to GAMMA in early 2011, and is expected to make his debut at GAMMA Youth Movement 34 vs. hot prospect Roth Schneider.

#4: Dean Capers- 68% Reputation, 17-3

After edging Hunter Scribbins by split decision to retain the UCFF LHW title in the promotion's final show, Capers moved on to crushing cans in OMEGA, where he is an impressive 12-1. He had the 2nd successful title defense in his 2nd reign with their title over "Lethal" Lenny McFadden in January 2011.

#5: Silvio Leite- 63% Reputation, 27-8

Leite became the ALPHA-1 titleholder in his last fight, submitting Gustavo Spagnol with a guillotine choke at the 4:38 mark of the 3rd round. Silvio moved to 10-2 in the promotion with the win.

#6: Toby Sorkin- 62% Reputation, 23-9

Currently riding a 4 fight winning streak, Sorkin is expected to be the next challenger to Marlon John in GAMMA. He will be looking to reclaim the LHW title for the first time in 10 years, as his reign was cut short by John before he could make a successful defense in March of 2001.

#7: Rafael Van Der Moot- 64% Reputation, 22-8-1

Van Der Moot was a winner in the co-main event of GAMMA's last card, #198: The Art Of War, TKOing Matthew Michael Kirby in 1:21 of the 2nd round. Having recently gotten a title shot at GAMMA 190: War on the Shore, he is probably looking at a matchup with "Anarchist" Vanya Lewandowski next.

#8: Shoyo Ukio- 65% Reputation, 20-7

"Stonewall" hasn't fought since September of 2010, taking a break after beating Vanya Lewandowski at GAMMA 188: Live to Win. Having recently returned, it's unknown who he will face next. It's also worth noting that he's a regen of Tsuramatsu Inoue, like the legendary Kagetoki Kobi from the "Humorous fights or events?" thread.

#9: Brody Howles- 58% Reputation, 17-4

After an 0-3 stint with ALPHA-1 early in his career, "Crush 'Em" Howles decided to live up to his nickname and become a can crusher in small promotions. After stints with UCFF and CCC, he landed in FLB, where he won the title from Sebastian Lepoldo in October 2010. He does not have an opponent for his first title defense yet.

#10: Murray O'Haire- 55% Reputation, 19-8

O'Haire is another ALPHA-1 outcast, going 3-4 there after jumping ship from BCF in 2005. He returned to BCF in 2008 and is 5-0 since, winning the title from Zane Wybock in August of 2009. He gained a measure of revenge against the man who gave him his final defeat in ALPHA, Makhak Kirakosyan, to make his only title defense to date in March of 2010. The former straight ahead brawler has won his last two fights via Technical Submissions.

Funny, in my GAMMA game Watson owns John. They have fought five times, crazily. Really early in the game before I started playing it (I simmed five years to start it for some variety) John held a UD over Watson, but since I've played it Watson has been pretty dominant. Problem is so has John. John beats everyone in the division except Watson and most aren't even fights. He just can't beat Mike Watson. He has earned three title shots by dominant win streaks over top fighters and just can't win. He has held the title though. Other than Watsons early loss to John, he also lost his title once to Toby Sorkkin. John was on one of his win streaks and won it from the Judoka, only to lose it to Watson immediately.

Yeah, I'm pretty surprised about John's success, too. IIRC, He had a title shot once, but I'm pretty sure he got finished in like a minute by Affonso Villar. Since then he's sort of been in and out of the main cards. I gave him a fight against Tadamasa Yamada where I basically fed him to him. He took the first two rounds, but was then subbed out in the third.

Funnily enough, Yamada is basically the best LHW I've ever had and has only been beaten twice in game time (once outside of it). Both times to Mike Watson.

Also interesting to see Scribbins' success. He was my first GAMMA Gladiator, and I protected him for a while before he started picking up big wins and earned a title shot. Been all downhill since then as he went on the customary four-fight losing streak before being cut and dropping out of his current team.

That's crazy! I can't even imagine Marlon John not being dominant-he's taken on literally every top guy in the game and almost all the fights seem to go the same: little bit of striking, John hits a takedown, passes to side control, and pounds them out. 20 of his 35 fights have been 1st round TKO's, most of them right around that 3 minute mark.

He's 2-1 vs. Villar, 1-1 with Yamada, 2-1 vs. Benn, and his only unavenged loss is also his only KO loss to Alexi Chekov. He's 2-0 vs. Watson, they didn't even face up until '09 there because Mike just never broke into the title picture. Watson did take him all 5 rounds in that one, but lost the decision.

Aside from a 2 year period where he fell in love with his jiu jitsu and wasn't finishing anyone- also a main reason he lost to Villar and Chekov, he's been reliable as they come for me.

Scribbins is absurdly lucky to be on there, in my book. His only quality wins are a pair over Allen LeFleur and his SIGMA title win over Nicolai Mickiewicz. I'm betting this prospect beats him, and with another win or two may be the man to take the torch from the declining John.
