I was just wondering if anyone holds their own tournaments.

I host two tournaments, one during august and one during september.

August: Lord of the Ring/Vince McMahon Invitational

This tournament is a large 138 man tournament with wrestlers brought in from other nations and federations in order to compete. Winner is granted the Lord of the Ring and winner of the McMahon Invitational. Also, if winner is in the WWE, he gains a title shot at what ever title

September: Lord of the Tag Team

This is a tournament where everyone in the federation and around the world is invited to compete in the tag team tournament. Winner is granted a title shot at the Undisputed Tag Team Championship

I'm going to have a Cruiserweight Tournament eventually just to get a focus on light weight wrestlers and such

I love tournaments as much as anyone, but 138 wrestlers involved? Yikes, that sounds like a HECK of a commitment.

One of my promotions has an annual tournament based on the ol' Jim Crockett Memorial Cup tournaments of the 1980s, and I've been wanting to have a tournament for my lighter weight wrestlers as well, but so far, I've had trouble coming up with a good name, (Lord Of The Flyers, I thought was pretty good but it might be a bit cheesy).

I've been toying with the concept of a tournament only promotion that I've mentioned here before. One tournament per month for a specific cup, with each month having a different theme. Tag-teams, heavyweights, lightweights, luchadores, strong-style, etc...

It seems crazy doesn't it. I just really like large tournaments. I like the idea that a tournament can produce some great matches.

My schedule is like this

Monday - Raw

Tuesday - Smackdown

and unless it is the third or fourth week of the month, I have no pay per views, so with it being August, I only have SummerSlam.

So Thursday, Friday, and Saturday are dedicated to Round 1 and Round 2

the following week is next

I like it because I can bring in foreign talent from NJPW, or NOAH and have indy workers I feel like trying out.

I held a smaller tournament earlier in the year and came across Davey Richards who was putting on fantastic matches with my talent, so I signed him up right away and he is already a former IC Champion.

I also do not run any angles. These matches are not on PPV but in my mind will be sent out as a special DVD or can be watched online.

It is just something I enjoy doing.

I've never done a tag team tournament yet, so I am getting prepared for that. It should be really interesting.

I had this type of game going on in TEW2008. The promotion was set in Europe, with one singles tournament every month. I stopped the game after the repetitive match penalty got in the way and ruined my finals :p

I took a page out of now defunct IWA Mid South's book and usually book a two night 24 man tournament. It showcases the stars of my promotion and some ringers from other promotions. I call it the Road to Glory. Night one features 12 first round matches. Night 2 features the second round, semi-finals and then the three way elimination style final.

I run TCW, now in Dec 2013.

In June I run the TCW Legends Invitational, a singles tournament with highly respected Legends "choosing" the participants......

It's a 16 man, one night tourney. The winner gets a title shot whenever they want.

2010 - Tommy Cornell

2011 - Wolf Hawkins

2012 - KC Murder (KC Glenn)

2013 - Sean McFly

In November I run the TCW Total Tag Team Tournament (the 4T)

It's a 16 team, one night tourney. The winners get a tag title shot whenever they want.

2010 - Freedom Fighters (Ricky Dale Johnson & Joey Minnesota)

2011 - The Stone Siblings (Dan Stone Jr. & Jeremy Stone)

2012 - Dirty Money (Angry Gilmore & Steve Frehley)

2013 - The New Sin Generation (Lenny Brown & Ernest Youngman)

I have also been debating a Trios Tournament, but I'm just not quite sold on it.......

In both my current game and my previous one, I have a King of the Ring, a Lethal Lottery, (which is purely tag team, rather than ending in a battle royal like WCW's original) and a King of Trios.

I had the international open for what was my TCW diary.

8 men from 8 nations (had Tana in it so idk if that counts lol) and the final match was for the International title (and tourney trophy) at Total Mayhem

Had qualifiers for each nation.

Canada: Benny Benson d Dan Stone Jr.

USA: Bryan Vessey d. Troy Tornado

Mexico: Antonio Marquez d. Pablo Rodriguiez (cheating to get a working agreement)

Japan: Koshirno Ino d. Haruki Kudo (once again cheated to get working agreement but he was the only choice IMO)

Samoa: Tana by default

Austraila: Bruce the Giant (USPW) d. Swoop McCarthy (my guy)

UK: Jeff Daniel d. Dark Angel

and International champ Joshua Taylor was automatically in.

Nope, 138 on mistake though. When I signed everyone and brought people in from my developmental, I had a total of 139, but then Kurt Angle got injured so it went down to 138

So a few first round matches were triple threats. I felt that if you held a championship belt, it had to be much more difficult to fight.

so the WWE, World, IC, TV, US, Commenwealth, Tag Champion 1, Tag Champion 2, and two others who needed something to stir up their match ups

As for controlling the roster. It is not too difficult, I just write down all the wrestlers and put them all in different brackets.

I start with the Champions, and so on and so forth

This past tournament I had Steve Corino win it, shot him from mid-card to main event and from B- to A in popularity
