robreed3 Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 I have been playing TEW for a long time and I have finally decided to make a Mod myself. The thing is that I am so new at making stuff like this that I may need some help. My idea is to make a mod based similar to Crayon's Over 9000-verse, where comic book, sci-fi, horror, video game characters, etc. are wrestling workers. There may be a few real life wrestlers and historical figures. The idea is that a rift in time has occurred where different universes have collided making it possible for say Batman to fight Darth Vader. I would like to have some help if it is at all possible. I wouldn't mind if people could help me make logos and such. If it is ok, I have taken a few gimmicks and match types from a few of the other mods.
crayon Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 A couple of things (thanks for the plug btw) Firstly you'll need to specify exactly what help you want. You mentioned logos and the blessing of using other's gimmicks/match types, but is there anything else you're looking for? Secondly, depending on what you want help with, people may be reluctant to pitch in until you've done a good bit of work on it already. Not passing any judgement on you or the project, but in the past there have been a lot of announced mods that have gone nowhere, and no one likes putting work into vaporware. Some things, like suggestions of workers to add may be no issue, but things that require more effort may be more difficult to get buy-in. Thirdly, it'd probably be a great idea for you to show us a detailed plan of the gameworld, such as what promotions you think you may have in it, who you think may be the main eventers of those promotions, etc. This is not only for those you want help from, but also for your own benefit since you'll have some clear objectives to aim for. Fourthly, be prepared to do the mod by yourself. Creating a mod is really hard work, and there may not always be the people to help out (or the ones that said they'll help out may disappear for whatever reason) and when that happens you've just got to stick it out and keep it going. Fifthly, do backups. Lots of mods have died or faced painful setbacks due to a hard disk failure. It may not happen, but think of it as car insurance. Outside of that, good luck!
robreed3 Posted April 11, 2011 Author Posted April 11, 2011 Thank you for the input. I am still in the initial planning stages right now. I completely understand what you mean. I know that being new to this I don't want other people doing all of the work. I also have the same problem you do, as I am currently in school, so I only have certain times that I can work on it. Once I come up with the names for my companies, then I will start asking for help with things like logos. I fully plan on making the mod myself. I am mainly asking for input more than people doing things for me. If I cannot get logos I can always improvise.
