thehighwayman Posted April 14, 2011 Posted April 14, 2011 To any real world mod players, I was just wondering who you have included into your Hall of Immortals, both currently in it and future inductees. I know it doesn't affect gameplay, but I think it's a nice addition and I like seeing the legends getting honored. I'm editing my mod and I know it's supposed to be even more prestigious than a HOF, so I was just wondering who you have included. My main thing is I don't know what WCW events are legendary/historic. Obviously Starrcade, and maybe Great American Bash to a certain extent, but are there any others I should include?
Bigpapa42 Posted April 14, 2011 Posted April 14, 2011 I would say just Starrcade. My HOI would include the obvious ones, but also: Lou Thesz Giant Baba Antonio Inoki Rikizodan Both Funk brothers Harley Race Verne Gagne Bruno Sammartino Buddy Rogers Jerry Lawler El Santo Jack Brisco... I'm sure I'm missing some key ones, but off the top of my head....

TheOmniWarrior Posted April 14, 2011 Posted April 14, 2011 Id say Eddie Guerrero has had enough A* matches (+ the 9% from his world title reign) to be in the HoI
Bigpapa42 Posted April 14, 2011 Posted April 14, 2011 I'd add at least Andre The Giant to that list. Absolutely. I stayed away from listing really mainstream guys who spent most of their careers in the WWE or WCW, at least post mid-80s. Figured they would be pretty much automatics. Guys like Andre, Hogan, Flair, Savage, probably Steamboat, etc.
thehighwayman Posted April 14, 2011 Author Posted April 14, 2011 Thanks guys. I'm mainly concerned with the guys that are alive, because if I started adding the dead guys it could take a while. I guess it's really just a matter of personal preference. There is definitely a formula to get into the HOI, but it doesn't seem to take into account the old days where guys didn't have 10 title runs, but instead had 2 or 3 that went on for a long time. I'm trying to balance that out. For example, Edge is a sure fire Hall of Famer, but he isn't someone I think of for the Hall of Immortals. He was never the number one guy, and he was really only the number two guy for a short period of time. However, he wrestle in the era of the brand split so he had a bazillion title reigns and therefore he makes it into the Hall of Immortals. And because he makes it into the HOI, then someone could make the argument for guys that are on the fence.

The idea of a "draw" has kinda been nullified in the current WWE, and obviously winning titles is next to meaningless. Where with the territorial era, some of the criteria don't apply that well. Jerry Lawler wouldn't get in based on the HOI criteria, yet he was and still is an absolute icon in the Memphis territory.

I agree with this, similarly it also means that guys from the UK and Europe would never get into a HOI despite being hugely popular in their home areas, because they never wrestled for a "big" company.
