Doing Nothing With Crucifix

Recommended Posts

I just had the following string of, um, nothing when Stephens got Morrison in a crucifix. I believe he only attempted two weak punches in over four minutes of having the crucifix locked in.

A, the crucifix is the most dominant position a fighter can get and should be actively trying to destroy the other fighter with strikes. B, in the highly unlikely event that a fighter would just hang out and stall when he gets a crucifix, wouldn't the ref re-start?

Here's the PBP:

>Stephens tries to apply a crucifix to trap both his opponent's arms.

>Morrison is in big trouble as he is trapped in the crucifix.

>Stephens takes a moment to plan ahead.

>Stephens maintains the crucifix despite the struggling of Morrison.

>Stephens keeps control as he takes a moment to think.

>Stephens keeps control as he catches his breath.

>Morrison tries to get free of the crucifix, but Stephens maintains it.

>We are now at the halfway point of the round.

>Stephens takes a moment to plan ahead.

>Stephens maintains the crucifix despite the struggling of Morrison.

>Stephens keeps control as he catches his breath.

>Stephens breathes deeply as he decides on his next move.

>Morrison tries to pull free of the crucifix, but Stephens has it locked up tight.

>Stephens hits Morrison with a couple of minor shots to the side of the head.

>Stephens blocks Morrison from breaking free of the crucifix position.

>Stephens takes a moment to plan ahead.

>Stephens keeps control as he catches his breath.

>Stephens shifts his weight, making sure the crucifix is tight.

>Morrison tries to struggle free of the crucifix, but can't.

>Stephens catches Morrison with a couple of quick strikes.

>Morrison tries to get free of the crucifix, but Stephens maintains it.

>Stephens breathes deeply as he decides on his next move.

>Stephens blocks Morrison from breaking free of the crucifix position.

>We're into the final minute of the round.

>Stephens keeps control as he takes a moment to think.

>Stephens blocks Morrison from breaking free of the crucifix position.

>Stephens elbows Morrison, but can only land glancing strikes.

>The time is up, and that's the end of round one.

>There are some audible boos from the crowd, that wasn't the most exciting round we've ever seen.

Here's another one from the very next fight. The crucifix was applied at 3:46. He starts by trying to finish but then gets tired and just stalls out. Shouldn't there be a better way to handle this?

>It appears that Aldarisio is looking for a crucifix.

>Chambers is in big trouble as he is trapped in the crucifix.

>Aldarisio pounds away with elbows on Chambers, landing several good clean shots in the process.

>Aldarisio pounds away with elbow strikes from the crucifix position, and Chambers is being hurt.

>Keeping the crucifix tight, Aldarisio takes a moment to breathe.

>Chambers tries to get free of the crucifix, but Aldarisio maintains it.

>Aldarisio throws a couple of weak strikes, catching his breath.

>Aldarisio blocks Chambers from breaking free of the crucifix position.

>Aldarisio takes a moment to plan ahead.

>Aldarisio takes a moment to plan ahead.

>Aldarisio uses some elbow strikes, but Chambers is struggling enough to prevent them landing clean.

>Chambers tries to struggle free of the crucifix, but can't.

>The end of the round is coming quick, there's under a minute left.

>Aldarisio keeps control as he takes a moment to think.

>Chambers tries to struggle free of the crucifix, but can't.

>Aldarisio pounds away with elbow strikes from the crucifix position, hitting several big shots.

>Blood is visible on Chambers, that strike looks to have opened up a cut under his eye.

>Aldarisio throws some elbow strikes, but Chambers struggles enough that they only land glancing blows.

>The time runs out on round one.

the crucifix is the most dominant position a fighter can get and should be actively trying to destroy the other fighter with strikes.

Mount, Back Mount are better, more versatile positions. It's actually rather hard to keep you're weight on a guy in that position and consistently rain down effective, fight-ending, blows, especially if elbows aren't legal.

With that said, laying around in that position is Donald Trump-level foolish. So much so, in fact, one hopes he got lamped in the very next round.

It could be that the crucifix is not a real dominant position in the game. Could also be the guys using the position aren't finishers. I don't really play as GAMMA often so I'm not familiar with the fighters who got the crucifix. Fezzy crushes people when he gets that in my game.

The guys locked in the position are also high level wrestlers, they could just turn their head away from the incoming elbows and the guy with crucifix can do nothing because his elbows would be illegal.
