D-Lyrium
A lot of TV channels, especially in the UK, have ways to watch their shows online. BBC have the iPlayer, Channel 4 have 4OD, you can watch ITV shows on their website too... what about Sky channels? Specifically, Sky Atlantic HD? I -need- to see the TV adaptation of Game of Thrones. Not owning a TV, Sky, or anything else I need to do so will -not- stop me. I can't find anything on their website, I'm assuming they can't really do things like that due to needing people to tune into the actual channel for advertising or whatever. Is there any way at all, even if I have to pay, to watch it online?

It's a monthly fee though and there are many programmes that are 'blacked out' due to rights issues, so I'd check on the site that what you want to watch is availible before you open your wallet. Or, just torrent/stream it like everyone else :-p

First episode aired last night (again tonight) and I'm happy so far! Give it a few days and you may be able to find it in segments on YouTube or somethingblike that, or you can find a stream online, just be careful. D-Lyrium
The casting had me sold already. Sean Bean as Ned Stark? YES. Peter Dinklage as Tyrion Lannister? YES. Nicolah Coster-Waldau as Jaime Lannister? Weeelllll, you can't win 'em all... I've watched the little character portraits on Youtube... holy hell did they ever strike gold with Arya? It's like they went out into the world and found the real Arya Stark. Stick 'em with the pointy end! Sansa's a hellovalot less likable in the TV series though... not entirely a bad thing I guess, but she's supposed to be a damsel in distress for most of the first book... They've also nailed all the Targaryens (especially Viserys, which I'm glad about as he's one of my favourite characters, in a weird way). And Petyr Baelish... YESYESYES! I always pictured Jeremy Irons (especially after seeing him as The Patrician in the Colour of Magic... but this guy is incredible.
The Final Countdown
The casting had me sold already. Sean Bean as Ned Stark? YES. Peter Dinklage as Tyrion Lannister? YES. Nicolah Coster-Waldau as Jaime Lannister? Weeelllll, you can't win 'em all... Jaime is one of my absolute favorite characters in the books, and I thought they brought him to life very well in the first episode. I thought they did a good job with every character that appeared in the episode, with the possible exception of The Hound, who I didn't even realize had been in the episode at all until I read feedback on the Westeros forum. Well, he was visible during Robert's arrival at Winterfell, but he was wearing his special helm. He also evidently had a scene where he talked to Tyrion sans mask, but I had no idea that it was The Hound that Tyrion was talking to. He should look pretty distinctive, so I take that as a bad sign. All in all, though, I was very pleased with how the episode played out. There are minor quibbles I could make here and there, but I think they did justice to my favorite books ever, so I'm more than happy.
moon_lit_tears
Don't give too much away! I'm only half way through Aclash of Kings. Arya is probably the best fasted role next to Daenerys.

I shall keep my mouth shut. mlt, out of curiosity: what did you think about the nudity? I've seen quite a few people who have read the books say they thought it was excessive and detracted from the story, but I don't really agree. I mean...there's lots of nudity and sex in the books. Lots.

Lots. From reading A game of Thrones, I was expecting it. I mean you do have to look at the setting. Hell look at the Dathraki (sp?) chapters of the book. That right there told me HBO was going to have a field day with this show. Personally it doesn't bother me. Others have said it is a bit much, but Eh there wussys.
