Why arn't there any decent real world mods?

Recommended Posts

There's a couple of decent real world mods in the Mods forum. As for why there aren't more, it's likely because they're extremely time consuming to make.

There's plenty of exhaustive real world pic packs around, I'm not sure why you wouldn't find any of them decent.

There are LOADS of really good real world mods. Why try ones that aren't current day? Imo they are alot more enriching to play. The modders here invest a great amount of time and effort to put together fantastic mods, to say that there isn't any 'decent' ones is quite frankly insulting to them. Also are you for real? I believe you're the same guy already dissing on the new comic book game. Does anything satisfy you? Not trying to be a di** put I felt I had to point out the obvious..

I just prefer the current day mods because I like to play as close to the real thing. That's just me.

The problem with a current day mod is keeping it current. A few weeks go by and enough has changed that its out of date. Based on what I've seen, its a pretty huge undertaking to not only make the mod initially, but then keep it up to date with monthly releases. Its a big enough challenge with something like EWR, but its compounded for TEW with so many more factors to deal with.

Totally false. Making a top notch real world mod can't be that hard. You just have to keep up with all the goings on in all of the promotions in all of the regions of the world. Updating it is just moving people around and tweaking some stats. Heck, anyone could do it if they wanted to. It's not like it's WORK or anything. It's just like programming games. That's not hard either.

No offense to the guys involved in the current day real world mod, but I would strongly recommend trying out the historical mods. '96, '97, '99, '01, '02, pretty sure there are some early '90s ones too, and they are fantastic. Particularly enjoying '99 at the moment, and waiting eagerly for the new late '80s mod that Genadi is working on.

In fact, I'm going to check if it's out yet right now... *crosses fingers*

Excellent stuff.

On-topic, because of people like the original poster, some of the modders have actually stopped modding. It wouldn't be an end of the world if you would give out some friendly advice, constructive criticism or atleast give respect for someone to take on such a challenge.

I don't think anyone should really be insulted. You look at EWR and TEW05 and there's these big, constantly updated, constantly built upon real world mods that get updated every month. You jump to TEW10 and then there's a bit of transplant shock when you realize there's really no such equivalent.

Its not a criticism. It happens in EWR and TEW05 because those games are free and there are more players so more people willing to invest time in mods. You just better the odds of finding those people willing to do it month in and month out. It obviously takes a sort of person to do a mod like that where he'll constantly be bombarded by requests and criticisms. Its understandable when a modmaker decides that's not worth the hassle but its also part of the deal. People are always going to want you to add this company or change that wrestler's stats or point out that you're behind in certain places.

There also seems to be a different community here and with TEW10. The Cornellverse seems to be much more played and is the basis for how everyone plays, to the point where when a poster said he was working on a huge real world "super" pack he got criticized for not doing it "right". All in all I just think its just something we need to get used to as we graduate from the free games to the current pay game, and the veterans of the pay games might have to just understand that there will always be people popping up saying "I just bought the game, where's the up to date real world mod and that whole community I just left behind?" Some will be a little rude and some will be polite but its just the way it goes.
