Dominant Champions

Recommended Posts

Hassan Fezzik defended his belt 8 times before being pounded out in a rematch against Armen Sarkisian. He's won his way back to a title-shot will fight in the trilogy fight next PPV.

Li-Kong Ho has dominated my FW division after merging the KDM FW divison into ALPHA-1 he's defended his Featherweight strap 9 times in 3 years. No end in sight.

Sarkuno 8 times, and Endo 5 times. All on the same save.

In my Modern Day Warriors game Frankie Edgar has held the UFC Lightweight title since the start, having defended the belt an astonishing seven times. His last defense was against Gilbert Melendez. All six of the defenses I booked were against Top 10 Lightweights, and he's beaten #2 Lightweights back to back. He's even #1 pound for pound.

Sean Morrison and James Foster seem to dominate no matter what. Before I downloaded the most recent patch, Sean would always lose to Brandon Sugar and James would lose to Raul Hughes. However, since I downloaded the new patch both champions have defended their respective titles nine times each. And they always beat the people that they used to lose to before.

In my current majesty's 0-0 reset game (in 2000) Elzo Alves Moura is 16-1, 9 GAMMA heavyweight title defenses in 5 years, 8 by submission and one by TKO.

His only loss is a split decision to Hiro Arai in 1994, which he avenged in 1998 by submitting Arai in a title fight. The trilogy was close to being finalized when Arai fought Terron Cabal for contendership, but lost.

Moura's beaten every top contender I've thrown at him, including Christopher Sharp, Chuck Dooley, Fujimoto, Gladstone Lopes, Gerson Mauricio etc. James Foster hasn't got to a title shot yet at this point, but we'll see what happens when he does.

David Webb was my most dominant champ until he got KOed by Nathan Chambers. Who missed weight.

I hate that. Cobblepot, who can never make weight now with divisions, earned a title shot but then, again, missed weight even with four months to prepare! Luckily he lost anyway LOL. He has to be the biggest "big fight" choker I've seen. He is 0-3 in tournament finals and 0-2 in Heavyweight title fights. LOSER! :p

Featherweight Division: Li-Kong Ho.

No surprise there, the guy is a total beast and is currently sitting on 11 Title defenses. It's getting hard to find a fight for him as he has more or less cleaned out the division once over and won't move up in weight. At this stage i'm considering vacating the Title and having Ho fight in openweight dream bouts.

Lightweight: Manoel Cabral.

Though he has struggled to get back to his dominant ways Cabral stands as the most successful Lightweight Champion in my 13 year game with 6 successful Title defenses.

Welterweight: Yaichiro Araki.

A highly skilled regen who also had a successful run in the Featherweight division with 3 defenses. Araki's only 2 defeats have come at the hands of Li-Kong Ho, after moving to the Welterweight division he quickly established himself as the top dog with 5 successful defenses, just edging out David Webb's 4 defenses.

Middleweight: Buddy Garner.

8 Title defenses for the now retired Middleweight kingpin. Nobody has come close to his record, even hot prospect Isaiah Monroe.

Light-Heavyweight: Marlon John.

6 Title defenses for Marlon who has really struggled to regain his top form since losing the Title way back in 2002.

Heavyweight: Hassan Fezzik.

9 defenses was the mark for the golden boy of the Heavyweight division before being stopped by Rav Kapur in one of the single most boring fights i've seen in the game. Again nobody has come close to topping that.

LOL, Osmosis Benn always misses the 185lbs limit for me and is the only man to beat Buddy Garner, so he moves up to 205 pounds, having degraded Garner's belt in the meantime. Should've learned of this by now and put him at 205 right from the get-go. John Rivero is a sad piece of work, too, he misses weight by 9 pounds and when you move him to heavyweight he always, ALWAYS comes in at 206lbs. And with his size he doesn't do very good against the big heavyweights.

That's probably my biggest peeve with the game. It also happens with Lawrence Herringbone. He missed weight in his first three fights as LHW, only to weigh in at 206 in 9 straight fights at HW (which he only won two against absolute scrubs). Oddly enough, once I moved him back down to LHW he started making weight again and has a record of 6-2.

Actually, I was going to post something about that in the suggestions forum. The ideal weight thing works a treat when fighting inside that division or anywhere below, but it's a mess when fighters move up divisions. They should at least try their best to hit the maximum weight or at least something they feel comfortable with than just going one pound over.

Bantamweight - Li Kong Ho. Took the belt of Markus Waller -who had 2 TD's himself- and has since defended it 4 times.

Featherweight - Li Kong Ho - Inaugural GAMMA FW champ. Beat Shenkman for the strap and has defended 9 times.

Lightweight - Manoel Cabral - Beat Fiyero (3 TD's) and defended it 5 times before losing to Fiyero recently.

Welterweight - TJ Sommers (created character) - Beat Noach van der Cappellen and defended 5 times before losing to Manuel Silva in a rematch. Won the bigest match in GAMMA history when he went up in weight to face the undefeated MW Champ, Jakuchu Abe. Both were unbeaten, had 4 TD's each and were High Level International. It wasn't a title match though. Youngest ever champ at 21 but currently riding a 2 fight losing streak (Silva, Regueiro) both by sub.

Middleweight - Jakuchu Abe - Beat Garner and went one better than him in TD's with 4 TD's. Eventually lost a rematch to Garner.

Light Heavyweight - Toby Sorkin - Before Sorkin, all previous champions ha ended their reigns after 2 TD's (John, Yamada, Rubenstein, Katou). He has eclipsed that with 4 TD's. Has only lost once in a title match against Yamada.

Heavyweight - Hassan Fezzik and James Foster - Both made 4 TD's, though Fezzik had the tougher opponents. Satinho is currently sitting top with 2 TD's

WEFF domination

Sandy Oliver has absolutely decimated my Women's Featherweight division. Currently 22-0, all but one by submission, with 17 defences in her now five and a half year reign (1998-2003) and counting.

Additionally, despite the record, dominance, and a reputation deep in the 90% range, still no Hall call for her.

Sarah Vaughan defended her XCC women's title eight times, submitting EVERY OPPONENT she faced, before finally dropping it to Hester Maclean in a long-awaited rematch from Vaughan's first defense. TKO, round 1. Vaughan subsequently announced her retirement, so I fed her to a good up-and-comer for her last fight.

In my real world game, Kazushi Sakuraba should have 8 title defenses, but a bunch of his opponents came in overweight so the game forcefully made them non-title bouts. (Personally, I don't care as long as the champion makes weight. I wish there was a way to override the game making it a non title match.) So, he's won 8 straight matches since winning the title, but the game only counts it as 4 defenses.

Randy Couture just made his 5th title defense, but all the top 3 contenders in the Heavyweight division (Fedor, Randleman, Nogueira) look way stronger than him stats wise, so I doubt he's gonna make a 6th defense unless I intentionally book him against a can.

All my other titles change hands constantly, and the champ is lucky to make one defense. (Most lose it the match after winning.)

EDIT: Oh, and before he refused to re-sign for me (too small a company for him) Royce Gracie was undefeated. He'd probably still be champion with 10 or 11 defenses now if I'd been able to keep him, as he went to Pride and is undefeated for their title now.
