Another thread inspired me to ask this question. Who is the biggest choker in your game?

Mine is Jack Cobblepot. With a record of 15-4 in non-title matches, Cobblepot had become a legitimate Top 5 Heavyweight. However, he cannot ever deliver when given a title shot. Sadly, at 35, his career is likely on its last leg. Cobblepot is currently 0-3 in tournament finals and 0-2 in non-tournament title fights. Anyone got 0-5 beat? (Coincidentally, Cobblepot is 3-0 in non-title main events)

In my game, it seems to be Ken Shamrock. He destroys every other contender (He's something like 12-1 in non-title matches.) But he looks like a can in any title match I've ever put him in. (He's 0-4 in title matches now.) And thing of it is, most the champs are people he destroyed before they had a title. It's early 1999 in my game and Randy Couture is the champ, and Shamrock is ready for another title shot. Almost time for him to choke, I suppose. I bet I'm gonna tie that 0-5 here pretty soon.

It's funny, that's sort of what happened in my game. Shamrock and Severn clashed twice for the title, Shamrock lost both times. (After losing to both Oleg Taktarov and Bas Rutten for the title, who held the title before Severn.) Couture beat Severn for the title, Shamrock got one final title shot at Couture and lost. Now he can't get a win from anyone. At all.

Shamrock isn't really a can in real life... it's just...well, to be honest, by modern MMA standards, his missing some Key Tools-BJJ (which, to be fair, he had some serious submission grappling credentials), serious striking skills (he had more than enough during his heyday, but not enough by modern standards), and missing a bit on wrestling skills that aren't related to submissions.

Shamrock, when he was younger and healthier, was, at worst, a very dangerous opponent. Modern MMA requires that you aren't beholden to any style, and focus on all ASPECTS of the game, especially on ALL aspects of grappling. Shamrock, while great on the ground in certain areas, was missing a lot of key things in that area, like what to do on his back. That's how Royce Gracie beat him the first time.
