Board Games

So how many board-gamers do we have here? The wife and I recently started playing a lot more board games with friends and family, pretty much just out of the blue, but we're loving it! Lately our game is Carcassonne. If you haven't played it I highly recommend you do. It's easy to get into and rather addicting. So, what are some of your favorites?

I also play a few of my Avalon Hill board games also.

When I was about 18, my mates and I decided to skip a days worth of education and get hammered. We drove to a store to pick up some beer and spirits and we came back with beer, spirits...

...and Mousetrap. The Mousetrap drinking game was born. Almost a decade on, that day remains one of the best days of my life...

...and Mousetrap still rocks.

I'm huge on board games (so much more social than video games). Haven't got many people in the area to play with (actually it's really only me and my partner, at least until my kid grows old enough). Didn't actually realize that there was more out there beyond Monopoly and The Game of Life until a couple of years ago though, but once I went onto http://www.boardgamegeek.com my mind was officially blown

I recently just got Mansions of Madness, which looks fantastic but my girlfriend doesn't like learning new mechanics (especially complicated ones) so it looks like a bust out. Pandemic, Coloretto, Ticket to Ride (original), and Carcassonne probably get the most play in our house, due to her reluctance to learn new things.

I still try to sneak a new one in there every now and then, though. She's slowly warming to Mr. Jack which is good, since I like deduction games. One day I'll get her onto more complicated stuff though... hopefully?

Card games are great too.

Board and card games are fantastic. I think my favorite game of all times right now is called

Millie bournes it's a card game I used to watch my grandparents play when I was young, and I still have their original dexpck. Granted you can order it online, but the card graphics have changed a bit.

Another game I'm pleased with is called Fill or bust it's a card/dice game. It's a variant of 10,000 dice and Farkle.

I agree with Crayon. Anytime you can get a bunch of people together to play a game is so much better than a video game.

We make fun of my cousins wife because we were playing a game of Taboo. Every time our team got a word she would stomp her foot and yell ohh! It's funnier when you see it, but that's what makes game nights so much fun. :D

Pandemic - the board game is challanging but addicting

I've heard it's one of the best modern games out there, thought about getting it a few months ago but just didn't get around to it

Ticket to Ride is surprisingly good. I got dragged into it once and it turned out to be fun.

Not a board game, but Rummy is my fav game. Made a lot of $$$, and lost a lot of course. You would be surprised how better of a player you turn into when the dollar is involved.
