FRAGz
Hello! I'm making a real world mod set in 2021. So the project is to guess what's the future of wrestling is gonna looks like. I'm actually working on the WWE superstars. But I would enjoy to get your ideas about 2021. Russo
Have Shane McMahon start a new company after HHH and Steph run WWE down to National. TNA is still around but with a new man in charge of booking which is AJ Styles. John Cena is still dominating WWE and has a record 21 world title regins. ROH is out of business after not being able to have there product sold to new fans. Kevin Nash and Scott Hall's sons will be in TNA as The New Outsiders with Nash as the Manger. The new IWC favorite is a company called World Star Wrestling which is a hardcore, risque promotion owned and booked by Raven. HPW which stands for Honor Pro Wrestling takes ROH's place as the "Pure" Wrestling Company. Also Carolina Championship Wrestling is a low level cult company owned by the Rhodes and Flair family top stars are, Cody Rhodes, Reid Flair, David Flair, and Shane Helms.

Top 6 promotions

TNA-Global

ASW (All Star Wrestling Shane's company)- National

WWE-National

WSW-Cult

CCW-Cult

HPW-Reginal
guyver3
In 2021 I'd say Dragon Gate has axed DGUSA in favor of making a run at becoming a the top promotion in japan they now sit at #2 behind eternal kingpin NJPW but they are starting to loose their stem and are slowing getting passed by. NOAH bought out AJPW in 2018 but struggled with their inflated roster and the age of their top stars. CMLL and AAA are still battling but CMLL is trying to bring in more foreigners to spread their exposure. as far as the US goes I'd say that things have actually reverted to the territory system after WWE lost a lot of their following and TNA in the new #1 company in America. TenaciousG
Let's see what could be going on in post-apocalyptia those days...

- WWE should still be #1. I don't think Vince would be in charge anymore; so their default setup should be Stephanie as Owner and Triple H as Head Booker. As such, I think WWE would move to a product that emphasizes the actual wrestling more than Vince's did; on that note, I think WWE's roster would be more open to workers that aren't the typical Vince-brand hoss. Guys like Cena and Orton would still be around, but in the way guys like Undertaker, Triple H, and Michaels were/are.

- TNA shouldn't be #2, if they're even still around. In the next ten years, I see a decent amount of their high-card workers (Angle, Jarrett, Daniels, Sting, the Hardys) retiring, likely in the first half of that decade.

- CHIKARA might be a nice ECW-esque promotion. Most wrestling fans have at least heard about it, it's usually a good show for your money, but doesn't necessarily have what it takes to go global.

- There are apparently rumors going around that if Punk leaves WWE, he might buy 50% of Ring of Honor. Perhaps his name could get ROH a good TV spot and helps them become the new #2 over the next ten years?
Cooljazz123
My ideas

WWE Still no1

No2 Shane McMahon will found his own promotion (Attitude Championship Wrestling) similar dirty storylines like the early 2000´s in the WWE.

TNA has lost momentum from 2011 to 2021 but a new investor will put money into TNA.

Paul Heyman is a succsesful booker in the MMA scene (he has left the wrestling buisness)

Vince McMahon has retired as the WWE owner Stephanie McMahon is the new boss (WWE lost a bit of momentum)

That means that 3 stong companies will fight for the no1 spot.
juggaloninjalee
2021...

WWE is #1 globally and is trying to focus more on it's own television network becoming a basic cable/dish channel. Top stars... Cena, Cody Rhodes, CM Punk, and Daniel Bryan

NWA has become funded by a Hollywood Studio and become international. They quit branding their name to any promotion willing to pay for the NWA name. They are the #2 company in the US. Top stars... Sheamus, Christian Cage, Christopher Daniels (getting really old), Adam Pierce, and AJ Styles

TNA are #3 as a cult fed. They are owned by Jerry Jarrett once again. They are also renamed to Impact Wrestling. Top stars... Bobby Roode, James Storm, Chris Harris, Eric Bischoff, Rob Terry, Jeff Jarrett, and Bobby Lashley (still big but a shell of his former self)

JCW-Juggalo Championship Wrestling run a weekly show on iPPV from Detroit. They are a cult fed with their big show being in the summer for 3 days at the GOTJ called Bloodymania. Top stars... Corporal Robinson, Violent JJ (Violent J's son who will be a teenager then), Scott Hall, Ruby J (Violent J's daughter), and Madman Pondo.

ROH is still around at regional and putting on good shows but with lesser known talents.
MrCanada
WWE still #1 and run by Steph and HHH.

Shane McMahon and Paul Heyman start a company together, highlighted by Brock Lesnar returning to wrestling after his UFC career died with his age. CM Punk and other guys like that are there too. There company is also now on Spike TV.

TNA is now small cult company owned and operated by Jeff Jarrett and Vince Russo. They have little-to-no money because panda engery is gone and most decent guys have left and are with the Shane/Heyman company. So TNA goes back to its routes a bit, highlighed by Jarrett's friends.

ROH is dead after the indy scene becomes ravaged by there being two legit large promotions.

DGUSA also pulls out of American, but Dragon Gate should have overness enough to run there.

most indies in america are now regionalized and there are no ROH-touring like indies with TNA being the closest to that. Chikara is probally the largest of the indies at this point.

cappyboy
You know, reading through these suggestions one thing I see missing is the real game-changer. The event/phenomenon that totally changes how we see wrestling. Like for instance, In 1980, how many people would really have thought you could nationalize the wrestling business? And yet, Vince McMahon and WWE did just that. In 1990, who would have really thought that American women's wrestling would just completely slide into the abyss? Yet by the end of the decade, you had the most venerable women's title in the land being defended in foodstuffs and being awarded to a wimpy male manager in drag. In 1999 or 2000, would anybody have really thought the end of WCW would come by selling out to WWE? Year or two later, it comes to pass. Oh and the little indy promotion that opened in 2002 that based its identity in taking a hardcore attitude toward old-school principles like fair play and honor. It couldn't really become anything could it? Much less the premier cult fed in all the land? Right? Wrong. Ring of Honor anyone? Here's an idea for you. Maybe Shane McMahon does get back into the business by 2021. But rather than opening his own concern like everyone's suggesting, what if he takes an active interest in an existing promotion and gets them national TV exposure? And what if that promotion were SHIMMER? Or maybe with Ring of Honor having gone from a pipe dream to a cult sensation, what if CHIKARA took off? Their lucha libre sensibilities have a real cartoony feel to them. If they had a halfway decent TV deal, they could be seen as the alternative for those looking for a more family friendly product. Or with WWE, imagine if Vince retires and the expected Steph/Triple H succession falls flat on its face. What happens to the company then and who takes over? Especially if Shane's found that pet project and is unavailable. That could have a profound effect on the landscape. Whatever it is and however it happens, something profound's going to have happened by 2021 that might seem totally far-fetched and ridiculous here in 2011. If that's not reflected in some way or other, then your mod won't be as realistic as I'm sure you'd like it to be.
Tempest Kane
Chikara's product is one that is aimed at children, its the childrens party with clowns and funny gimmicks of wrestling... its not realy something i think is supposed to go above local realy by design of how they work. Id count that idea out. Ideas that involve Shane and Paul Heyman... honestly i dont see it happening, every future mod has something like this suggested for it but come on how realistic is it? if anything Shane goes into MMA and so does Heyman... that ship has just sailed already. Im shocked people are clinging to the idea that current upper midcarders and main eventers are the only people who could possibly be leading the way for WWE in 10 years time, i think its ever more likely that guys like Drew Mac, Sheamus, Gunner (Undertakers son), Richie Steamboat and Mason Ryan will be the top stars while the 'old guard' consists of Randy, Ted and John. TNA in all likelyhood will be gone, most of its roster eaither retired or on the indys, a handful might make it to WWE but realisticaly not many. The idea that Christopher Daniels is still working in 2021 shocks me, do you folks know how old he is now? 40... and he's not Flair or Taker so... running an Indy fed? more likely in my book. Same goes for most of the "young guys" in TNA who are infact mid to late 30s at this point. Someone who isnt even on the radar now, like say a Zack Ryder should be a shock cross-over megastar. Dosnt have to be him just that ... yeah someone. ROH bankrupt or developmental for WWE. Japan's wrestling industry should be in shatters following the social collapse of their country in 2011 that they most likely will take atleast a decade to recover from. Wrestling industry as a whole is likely still in the pits 10 years from now, perhaps rock bottom so that the only way is upwards... NWA Hollywood i think has a massive upside, i dont think they or anyone else in the USA will be national or above but they will most likely still be around and doing well. Eaither way the idea is to create something new in the future... a fun data that is unlike todays world... so think fresh when your posting suggestions for best results. FCWs roster is a good place to start, so is Harley race's little promotion if you wanna see who WWE's mainstay midcard/upper midcarders will be. And lastly... i think theirs something to be said for women getting the highest rated segments on TNA's show, what if this is a hint towards future trends? ... maybe women's wrestling has enough interest that by this point we have legitimate female main eventers the likes we havent seen since Chyna in her final months in WWE. Just ponder that idea for a moment...
