FRAGz
Hello! I'm running my own promotion in the Genati's 2001 Real World mod. I started at local level and i'm now regional (in Canada). I was growing fast but now I have some major difficulities to get to Cult size. My shows can't be success now. They don'T hurt my popularity but they still not good enough. - Infos - Name: NCW ("National Championship Wrestling" formaly known as "New Championship Wrestling") Size: Regional (0 Maritimes - 40 Quebec - 37 Ontario - 4 Prairies - 4 BC) Product: Click Here Ranked: #14 (#15 is TNA, and I just noticed that they don't make any angles. Just matches.) Roster: - Main Eventers - Lex Luger (Heel) Sting (Face) Sid Vicious (Face / NCW Champion) Scott Steiner (Face / Newest Worker, 1 show) Shane Douglas (Heel) The Warrior (Face) - Upper - PCO (Face / "Pierre Carl Ouellet") Big Bad Taylor (Heel / "Big Boss Man") Monty Brown (Heel) Rob Van Dam (Face) Me (Heel) (Other workers are not that important) I run 6 storylines. Mostly face main eventer vs heel main eventer. I'm running house shows. Making aroung $80 000 to $100 000 profits a month. I try to run at least 2 shows by month. 1 small special event and 1 medium show. - Last shows results - NCW Live! 9 52: ANGLE 50: ANGLE 30: UPPER MATCH 50: MAIN EVENTER MATCH 48: ANGLE 48: MAIN EVENTER MATCH Show Rating: 47 NCW Mahyem 2003 36: UPPER / MID MATCH 53: ANGLE 35: ANGLE 45: MAIN EVENTER MATCH 43: ANGLE 58: MAIN EVENTER MATCH Show Rating: 51 NCW Live! 8 7: (Pre-Show)LOW MATCH 39: UPPER / MID MATCH 48: ANGLE 38: MAIN EVENTER / UPPER MATCH 42: ANGLE 56: UPPER MATCH Show Rating: 51 //////////////////////////////// So, what should I do? DaMegaFish
I like the roster...not quite sure how you've pulled them in though...(then again, I don't know the mod but they should be too big for you?)

Anyway, I would lock someone up to a long term contract, and then make non-agression pacts with the bigger companies and push them to the moon. Getting one worker who is unstoppable in your promotion will give you a massive boost if you book them in the main event. And when their contract starts getting close, you can job them down a little bit, try to buy their happiness and then resign them.

Overall though, I wouldn't be worried about where you are at truthfully.

Remianen
Well, first off, if "other workers are not that important", you're hosed. You're not present day WWE. You HAVE to continuously make new stars, especially at Regional since the chances of your top workers being poached is always a concern.

Secondly, you're spread too thin. Your secondary region shouldn't be that close to your home region. What you should do (in my opinion) is run more shows in your home region to raise popularity there and then worry about the secondary region(s) once you get the primary to the high 60s. If you have someone (ANYONE) on a written deal (which you apparently do if you're running house shows), build them up as much as possible and use them to boost everyone around them. Do this in your primary region only, since that's the one you want to boost the most. I typically do it with the user character (since I'll never be stolen) but if your owner has skills, they fit well also (and perhaps a booker vs owner strat would work even better).

The primary problem I have with getting to cult in the straight edge games I play is accumulating the war chest. I tend to get people too over so they get poached or become too expensive to keep. But, continuously making new stars to replace the departing ones works in my favor since it means anyone on my roster is a potential breakout star (if I desire it). The problem many players have with getting to Cult is the shock of the vastly different financial picture. But, if you build your home region up sufficiently, you always have a place to generate gobs of cash when the need arises.
DaMegaFish
I would second pretty much everything in Remi's post.

As Remi said, the whole getting your workers stolen thing can be huge, which is why like I said try to get as many working agreements as you can, that way even if somebody big wants one of your guys, they won't completely steal them out. When you hit cult, this almost becomes a requirement if you want to keep your top guys...providing you book them so they get over in the B's and A's range, which shouldn't be too hard.

And a quick way to build your top guys is employ and old school method, Lower Card=Bait I tend to use the lower card as just bait for the top guys to squash. This helps them build momentum and gain their overness. You don't always need top guy vs top guy to get good ratings. I have John Cena pulling B- or B ratings out of my lower card because his popularity is what is important in the match, and his star power is enough to carry it.
FRAGz
I am pushing Steiner. He wins all his matches (with decisive wins, domination and etc) but he's losing in momentum... ???

Eidenhoek
Put Steiner in highly rated matches. That should help.
PoisonedSuperman
Make sure he dominates and wins decisively!
FRAGz
Make sure he dominates and wins decisively! This is something I alway do. He just beat Monty Brown (upper) In a 11 min single match. (dom + dicis) and he lost 2 of momentum... I want him to carry the company (As i know I will lose Sting), but I can't manage to get him high enough. After a while the effect of him being in a one sided match will makes the fans stop caring about the match and him. Shorter matches should help more, even against lower card guys. At most I tend to use 5 minutes for singles and 8 minutes for tag teams. And using dominate against guys with high selling will also tend to do wonders for a guy, getting him some good bonuses in a 5 minute match that can end up with some surprisingly good match ratings sometimes too. <img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png">
D-Lyrium
What kinds of match ratings is Steiner getting? And what is your company's product? I'm assuming, given your roster, your product is entertainment/popularity-heavy, similar to WWE's? Because if it's not, you're going to struggle to push guys like Steiner and Luger very far. The combined wrestling skill of your entire main event is pretty mediocre, to be honest. So unless you're heavily popularity-skewed, it might present a problem. How over is Steiner in Canada in your game? Maybe run a show in America instead? You WILL lose money, due to nobody turning up to see it, but guys like Sting and Steiner will be more over, so will get better ratings, so will improve their momentum (although of course, unless you have a TV deal, any popularity they gain will be pretty much wasted).
