So with instant inspiration comes this...and I shalt be updating the NXT one later on tonight hopefully. Bischoff and Jarrett to debut new wrestling promotion? The biggest story around the wrestling world today is the shocking rumor that former WCW head Eric Bischoff and longtime Memphis promoter Jerry Jarrett are days away from announcing the debut of a new national wrestling promotion. Sources close to both men claim this is a project the duo have been discussing since at least January. Bischoff has been linked to the WWE in recent months but so far nothing has come from it. iN DEMAND; NEW EDGE MEDIA AND NWA LLC ANNOUNCE NEW WEEKLY PPV WRESTLING SERIES NWA BATTLEGROUND TO KICK OFF JUNE 19, 2002 New York, NY (May 9, 2002)…iN DEMAND LLC, New Edge Media and National Wrestling Alliance LLC today announced a new weekly series of PPV wrestling entertainment events premiering on June 19, 2002, and continuing every Wednesday night. For Wrestling Media contact: info@nwatna.com More Info Released on Bischoff/Jarrett led National Wrestling Alliance Today saw easily the biggest announcement in wrestling since the buyouts of both ECW and WCW as Eric Bischoff and Jerry Jarrett announced the upcoming debut of the reformed National Wrestling Alliance on weekly pay per view. Following the 2 hour conference call held, we were able to get some more information on this new image of the NWA. -Bischoff and Jarrett, along with several other investors, are the brains and pocketbook of this promotion. In addition to Bischoff and Jarrett, several of Bischoff's partners in Fusient Media Ventures and Panda Energy, a Texas based energy group with ties to Jarrett are attached to the NWA. -Bischoff and Jarrett have in fact bought the name and titles of the NWA from now former president Howard Brody. It appears as though Bischoff will be not only the on screen president of the NWA but also off screen as well. As for the situations of NWA territories, it is believed that they will be used as developmental leagues. The situation is more "80's NWA" than current WWF according to our insider. However the biggest possible obstacle is the situation with the NWA Titles, most notably the NWA World Heavyweight and NWA World Tag Team titles, held by Dan Severn and The Shane Twins respectively. What should be interesting is that both titles will be on the line this coming Saturday as Severn faces Shinya Hashimoto in Japan and The Shane Twins take on David Young and Rick Michaels in Tampa. -The first event will be held at Center Stage in Atlanta, GA, the former longtime home of WCW Saturday Night. During the match, Severn suplexed Hashimoto outside of the ring, a maneuver that if competed under Zero-One rules, would give Hashimoto not only the win but the title. Despite the match being contested at the Zero-One event, it would be contested under NWA rules and as a result Hashimoto objected to the loss and formally issued an objection to the NWA. Following the match, Severn who claimed he had lost by the rules in this case, gave the title to Hashimoto. As a result of this event, new NWA President Eric Bischoff has vacated the title and has announced the title will be filled on June 19th's debut of "NWA BattleGround". These 15 men, along with the 5 previously announced and 5 yet unnamed competitors will compete on the debut edition of "NWA BattleGround" in the Gauntlet For The Gold to determine the new NWA World Heavyweight Champion.
