Wrestling - The Big Bang

Recommended Posts

Having recently lost my job, i'm finding i have a lot of time on my hands. I decided to try and make a mod. I have started several mods in the past but have never actually got round to completing one due to work, family etc...

I'm hoping that annoucing my mod intentions will give me a kick up the jacksy that i need to actually complete this.

My mod entitled Wrestling - The Big Bang will be set in 1920, originally it was going to be set in 1900 but the first real promotion didn't start till approx 1920 which is why i have choosen that year. I'm going to try and make the promotion as accurate historically as I can. Genadi has given me permission to use his data, so i will probably import some of his data an edit it with my own twist.....

At the momement I'm working backwards from 1920 to modern day.

I started working on the data two days ago and so far this is what i have

Dojo Graduates - 2

Dojo's - 1

Eras - 1

Gimmicks - 7

Meida Groups - 1

Move Sets - 5

Moves - 6

Narrative - 2

Promotions - 17

Title Lineage - 1

Titles - 1

TV Networks - 5

Worker Relationships - 6

Workers - 23

I'd be interested to hear any ideas, comments, thoughts etc....

Derek B if I remember had some good ideas when we were discussing this a while back. That may have been a convo not in a thread though I can't remember but I'd definitely tap his brain for ideas.

This mod has so much potential it's insane. Can't wait to see what you come up with dude.

Question:

With a gimmick should the percentage of subtlety should it be higher if the gimmick is easy to recognise so for example...

Royalty, the worker wears a crown and robe, has a scepter, so its pretty obvious what their gimmick is, so subtlety should be higher?

So ultimately this would be the most historical mod ever beginning at the true beginning?

This sounds awesome! I just hope you can find enough information. You may want generic carnival goers in the mod too since initially wrestlers would actually wrestle people from the crowd at times. At least that is the story. While usually the person in the stands was a wrestler from another town.

Can't wait to see how this goes. It will be very hard to make it accurate up to now but good luck. Hope it goes well! Hope it sees the light of day as well.

Cheers RAyW.. I already have it on my laptop and that will save me alot of work..

juggaloninjalee

The accuracy of some of the workers from 1920 to 1940 will be questionable, but the workers i have included so far i have based their stats on the information i have read about them..

The game will start with 1 promotion, run by the "gold dust trio" of Ed Lewis, Billy Sandow and Toots Mondt. Their promotion toured america and Europe and was the first promotion to actually have "contracted" wrestlers. The promotion was never given a specific name so I've called Strangler Wrestling (the name may change as i'm still researching this), other active workers at the start of the game are

Ad Santel

Dan Mcleod

Dr Roller

Ernest Roeber

Farmer Burns

Frank Beell

George Hackenschmidt

Max Baumann

Tokugoro Ito

Tom Jenkins

I'm mostly still researching at the moment. The problem is the 1920's is really interesting and my research keeps side tracking me.

I just wanted to delurk and say I would have gotten the game by now if a mod going back this far had been available, as history in general has been a long-running interest of mine. Research-wise I don't know if I could tell you anything you wouldn't already know with strong google-fu, but I'd be all over this.

Just a bit of an update, firstly i'm in the middle of moving so not been doing much over the past week, secondly just found out I have a baby on the way so getting ready the new arrival is taking alot of time, I'm still determined to get this mod complete but it may be a long work in progress,

I may release the mod before completion when i have something that looks like a mod and then do bi monthly updates, just a suggestion.

Congrats on the baby! I have a baby due any day now. We are really excited about it too. Also in the process of trying to move.

Hopefully you keep up with working on this.

 • 2 weeks later...
I've haven't done anywhere near as much as i wanted to have done with this yet. I'm still researching 1920-1930. I've finished researching Europe and The US for this period, I've just started researching Australia and Mexico for this period. Im just currently reading about a promotion called WCW from 1930s in Australia!!?? My major problem at the moment is research keeps sidetracking me and i'm getting to interested in the goings on in this period and loosing track of the greater goal!!!!
