Hive
As the thread title suggests, I have become confused as to what is really the best solution for Japan. Sure, most Japanese promotions are touring companies... but not seemingly quite strictly in the TEW-sense. For instance, my mod takes place in 1995. And looking at NJPW in 1995, they have several tours indeed. But they don't seem to follow the TEW-pattern with a few months of touring and then a month doing nothing; in fact, they have shows all year. Furthermore, they aren't simply touring; they have a tv show, regular events and PPVs as well... So what is the best/most realistic option for modding Japanese promotions? Bigpapa42
Touring. It doesn't replicate the touring process exactly, but its close. The best way to look at is that tour shows are the regular shows. They are taped for TV and put together into the highlight shows. Those build toward major events (some are PPV but the format typically doesn't do that well in Japan) that are more like "super shows" that draw big crowds. But from what I can gather, the RL Japense promotions hold shows all year long... would it work in TEW terms to have a fed tour for the entire duration of the year? Or would some breaks be needed? Also, what to do with TV shows? How would that work?
Nok Su Kau
You can change your tourmonth from time to time, so that you tour every month al last, if you want that. I love the touring system. You can use a big Momentum of a touring guy to loose to your written contract Main Eventer, so that the Main Eventer get a big Momentum at last. After the tourbreak you hire the "Looser" again, who lost some Momentum. He starts again. So woth a win in his first Match, he has good Momentum again. Hope you understand, what i wanna tell you. Finaly a Japaneese Promotion without Touring System lost something typical japaneese! I have allway one or two weekly shows and one big show for eacht Month. With big Promotions (GCG/BHOTWG) I have one PPV eacht (touring) month and the weekly shows are huge. But at last, do what ever you wanna do. Lukiep8
Touring isn't perfectly replicated because of the way Adam implemented it. But touring far outweighs having the regular shedule, and to by-pass off-months, you just change the schedule from time to time.
Hive
But what about TV shows? I don't suppose tour dates can function as such?
Capelli King
Touring, it is not the same are RL, but hell, this is a fictional world anyway
Hive
Right. Since you all seem to agree on a touring schedule, I'll implement that.

I think I'll try a model that still lets them have a TV show.
Hive
I just found out today, after having tested a touring schedule on the Japanese promotions for a while, that if a touring company has a tv show, it's set as a "highlights" show. So all my worries were basically for nothing. Touring it is!

So all my worries were basically for nothing. Touring it is! So if you have a TV show, is it automatically a highlights show? Like do you still have to book the matches even though you don't know what went on during the tour? Or can you just do whatever and make up your own highlights?
