NAME: Samurai Queen Izumi

GENRE: Action

TYPE: Sidescroller

GAMEPLAY:

The player plays as female samurai Izumi, if two players, the secondary player plays as her sidekick Ninja Nanaka.

The players battle through one giant level with many twists and turns, depending on the direction the players go they fight different bosses, and different bosses give different power ups.

Character differences:

Izumi: Izumi's starting weapon is a sword. When Izumi gets a power up she gets the short-ranged, but more powerful version. She takes noticeably lesser damage from hits but she has trouble with jumping and shes kinda slow. When entering a certain button combination, with the default weapon, Izumi can stretch her blade out and spin like a tornado that deals lots of damage, in multiple hits to foes nearby.

Nanaka: Nanakas starting weapon is shurikens. The player who plays as Nanaka, has their power ups become long ranged attacks, that deal low damage. When enterting a certain button combination, with the default weapon, Nanaka will throw shurikens all over the stage, where if any non-boss enemy gets hit directly they die, if not they will stick in the walls and explode. The explosions can hurt both the other player and the enemies.

The story's plot is this:

Izumi is the daughter of the legendary samurai Yoshihiro Matsura. When Hoshihiro finds the legendary blade of darkness, it corrupts his soul and using the blade he calls forth an army of darkness to take over the world. Now its up to his daughter to save the world from him, and possibly him from the blade.

None of the bosses are color swaps, they all have their very own sprites, and a decent range of what they are and what they can do:

Ranging from a giant scorpion, to a valkyrie riding on a pegasus, to a headless horseman, to a 3 headed dragon, and much much more.

----

No backtracking!

There will never be a point where a player has to backtrack!

-------

MULTIPLAYER: Yes (can be played by 2 players)

STAFF: (All only brought in on a 1-game contract for now )

Programmers: Jon Carter, Kurt Flug($37,500)

Artist: Jake Gold ($10,000)

Designers: David Garic, Ryan Soul ($20,000)

Samurai Queen Izumi - A review bought to you by EGN.COM

----------------------------------------------------------

Samurai Queen Izumi is not a game which every type of player will enjoy. It is pretty simple side-scroller which is actually pretty fun. What is fun? Mainly the very good game design which we have to thank David Saric and Ryan Soul. The levels are un-repetitive, art is solid, and thanks to the popularity of the studio, game actually did pretty well on both PS3 and XBOX 360. The story is passable, altrough we seen better. There are some major bugs, we thought the programmers are not very experienced at this job, but there is time for them to learn. All in all, this is just the game for people who want to have relaxing action fun.

----------------------------------------------------------

The Land of Valinor is brand new Hack and Slash from studios of Jokke Software. We already know the capabilities of their engine and this game just proves it. Graphics are sweet, Gameplay is fluid and combos are well animated. Yes, this is not a big stack dollar project, but we can see that creators created it with love. Replayability level is pretty high, and you might actually find yourself playing this game for fifth time in no time. Is This game good? Yes it is. Will it change gaming world? No it wont. But this game knows just what it wants, and does it very well. Dale Smith did pretty well on this project (+2 score).

Battle of Mythology - A review bought to you by EGN.COM

----------------------------------------------------------

Battle of Mythology tries to bring up the fighting genre which has lost it's attraction for years. The game is well done, all the characters have a different feel to them and the Greek mythology isn't used too often in games. The battle stages are good looking and the gameplay is fluid. You can also see their experience in the genre and in general. Then the downfalls... The genre is still going down and this game wont bring it up. That will surely take away a lot of revenue from the game. Also the small amount of characters takes away a lot. So the general point is that the game will not bring up the genre but it's a good game. It will sink in time with the genre and the game will be forgotten in the upcoming years. The gameplay in itself is good but it suffers from the genre and the lack of content. Also the PC version has problems with the games playability if you don't have a controller.
