[Modding Resources]Pic Super Packs

Recommended Posts

As suggested by Adam himself over in this thread, I thought I'd start the thread and, since I'm no good at cutting, offer to supervise organizing "super packs" of pictures (oh God, what I'm I getting myself into? ;)). I was thinking it would probably be best to do it as three packs rather than just one as suggested though: A marvel one, a DC one, and a Other (Image, NOW, Oni, Malibu, etc.), due to the sheer size the two main ones are going to be rocking. So, if you have any cuts you want to share, link them here and I'll add them to the proper pack. One request though, make sure you list the character's name and company along with your link (I know most of the mainstream heroes and villains but more obscure ones I might not). If your cut is meant to be an alt version, add it to the name. I.E.:

Spider-Man (Marvel): Link

Batman Unmasked (DC): Link

I'll keep a running tally of pictures in each Super Pack right here:

Marvel:

none

DC:

none

Other:

none

I don't know if this helps you in any way, but <a href="http://www.greydogsoftware.com/forum/showthread.php?t=452085" rel="external nofollow"><span style="color:#0000FF;"><strong>I've been doing a bunch of cuts</strong></span></a> (and will continue to do so) for a variety of characters. I doubt I'll have the time to keep this thread updated along with the other one, but if you or anyone else wants to link and name whatever I post in the cuts thread then go for it.

I'll go through your thread and try to sort it for this one (I've already decided to add an additional "Random" pack to the ones I listed above to throw all those awesome MK and non-comic pics you've cut into. I had intended for this to be a Comics only thing when I started this thread ;)). I'll correct the naming as I go to keep things nice and orderly (if any of you want to make my work slightly easier, I'm going with "CharacterName.jpg" as the format, with "CharacterName (ThisIsAnAlt).jpg" for alternate versions, with the info in the brackets explaining what type of alt it is, like that one Superman crayon did I named "Superman (Blast Damaged).jpg" to keep it together with any other Supes pics that get added to the pack).

Mind if I link to your backgrounds crayon? I'd like to offer them as the default for this. It will make it easier for me, two colors to work with instead of a rainbow. I think I'll sort them by company and color, so there would be a "Marvel Red" pack that gathers everything Marvel and on the Red background into one super pack, a "Marvel Grey" that does the same with the grey, two color packs each for Marvel, DC, Other Comics, and Randoms, eight altogether. That should make it easier for modders and end-users both, right? Large selection of pics, all on the same background, without ones you might not need.

I've also been doing (AltX) as the default Alt pic naming format for the pics I've been taking from your thread if the pic is of the characters default look (I.E. "Jade (Alt2).jpg") or just attaching a number if it's an alternative to a non-default look (I.E. "TrunksBrief (SuperSaiyan1).jpg" ). If length becomes an issue I'll probably just add a number to the end or use some common shorthand (I.E. "SS" instead of "Super Saiyan") depending on what I'm working with. </p><p> I kind of want to avoid being overly generic with the alt naming as I've found some of the TEW ones I've used were a bit wanting. I'll try not to go too overboard with it as well (especially generic alt pics. But group, period, or situation specific lay it on me) as I want to make finding the exact pic you want as easy as possible and I expect these packs will end up being pretty dang big by the launch date anyhow. Idea isn't to be a repository of every Captain America pic ever cut for this game, but to make sure that it covers such a broad spectrum of characters and situations that modders can find at least one pic for most if not all of the characters they want to add to their data and to generally cut down on the need for mod specific pic packs. And I'm rambling, aren't I? Sorry, lack of sleep. <img alt=":o" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/redface.png.900245280682ef18c5d82399a93c5827.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="Adam Ryland" data-cite="Adam Ryland" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="31336" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>The character limit on file names is 30. This includes the ".jpg".<p> </p><p> The head and body pictures should have the same file name (i.e. they must be stored in different folders).</p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> That's great to know, thanks Adam! I'll make sure to go through afterward and make sure everything is the proper length, and trim if need be (hopefully I won't have to as I kind of like the way everything is named so far). The second part shouldn't be a problem, it actually saves me a ton of work renaming pics I've already got (I've been tossing them into portrait folders inside my color/company folders and naming them the same anyway, so any error will have been due to my failing to rename a pic from what the cutter named it, something I'll have to keep an eye out for). Currently I have a set of folders set up on my external drive like:</p><p> </p><p> [Comic Picture Super Packs] ></p><p> [DC Grey] >[Portraits] Blank FullBody BG.jpg, FullBody.jpg1, etc.</p><p> [DC Red] >[Portraits]Blank FullBody BG.jpg, FullBody.jpg1, etc.</p><p> [Marvel Grey] >[Portraits] Blank FullBody BG.jpg, FullBody.jpg1, etc.</p><p> [Marvel Red] >[Portraits] Blank FullBody BG.jpg, FullBody.jpg1, etc.</p><p> [Other Comics Grey] >[Portraits] Blank FullBody BG.jpg, FullBody.jpg1, etc.</p><p> [Other Comics Red] >[Portraits] Blank FullBody BG.jpg, FullBody.jpg1, etc.</p><p> [Random Grey] >[Portraits] Blank FullBody BG.jpg, FullBody.jpg1, etc.</p><p> [Random Red] >[Portraits] Blank FullBody BG.jpg, FullBody.jpg1, etc.</p><p> </p><p> So it's so far, so good on the organizational front, just got to get my butt into gear and get those pics (then list them, but that's a trivial matter). And I'm rambling again, aren't I? <img alt=":o" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/redface.png.900245280682ef18c5d82399a93c5827.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p>
