Music with positivity

This may seem like a strange topic, but I'm currently making a playlist of songs with positivity or some kind of positive vibe or something that's easy to relax to. I've kind of hit a brick wall though and I'm turning to you wonderful folks.

Here's what I have so far and I'm searching for things with a similar sound to any of this stuff.

"Life is Beautiful" by Sixx:AM

I'm on a self help kick and trying to fix things about my life and negativity and letting stress get to me are my two biggest issues. Music is the driving force in most aspects of my life, so I'm starting to listen to this stuff as I go to bed and it's helping a little bit.

I struggle with depression myself so I know what you mean.

It's not something I've invested in but I feel that relaxation music is the best like Zen and Trance stuff. I'd suggest CDs but they're all mainly the same like sounds of the rain or whatever. Those are usually calming but mainly instrumental. Unless you're looking for more positive bands that also sing. Honestly, there's a LOT of Christian Rock like that if you're into it. I guess it depends what you're mainly looking for...?

I'm far from religious and find organized religion to be a sham, but I'm just kind of looking for feel good music. I don't really have any positive reinforcement in my life and I know that seems like some kind of excuse, but I'm trying to kick my depression out of my life and music has always been there. So I'm kind of using that as a crutch.

was the first song I thought of.

Then I realised I was a power metal fan, and the entire genre pretty much fits.

Masterplan - I'm Gonna Win!

Helloween - Can Do It (a song so happy, unless you're epically depressed, it's just too much happy to bear... ¬_¬)

Helloween - I.m.e (not so much 'happy' as 'inspirational' I guess, similar to King of Fools by Edguy).

Hell, anything by Freedom Call. Those boys are on something...

A few suggestions for 'happy' songs, but not necessarily relaxing ones...

Wonder Stuff - Size of a Cow

??? - Friday I'm In Love

Undertones - Teenage Kicks

Barenaked Ladies - One Week (also Another Postcard)

Foggy Bottom Boys - Man of Constant Sorrow (from the O Brother, Where Art Thou soundtrack)

Van Halen - Jump

Survivor - Eye of the Tiger

Outkast - Hey Yah

Ray Parker Jr - Ghostbusters

Aretha Franklin - Say A Little Prayer

The Libertines - Don't Look Back Into The Sun

They Might Be Giants - Birdhouse In Your Soul

Aerosmith - Walk This Way (also the version with Run DMC)

No Doubt - I'm Just A Girl

Merril Bainbridge - Mouth

Guns 'n' Roses - Sweet Child of Mine

The Saturdays - Up

Those are songs where I find it impossible to sustain a bad mood when I'm listening to them, at least.

Well I always listen to happy hardcore when I'm feeling down. Hits the button for me, but then again, that's just me. :D

And well, that's just the odd and slightly perverse culture of the Dutch we share. We are strange people indeed. :p

I realize you may not really like this type of music, but reggae is the ultimate genre for just type of feeling. A few links..

Bob Marley (& the Wailers) - Three Little Birds

Peter Tosh - Pick Myself Up

Toots & the Maytals - Pressure Drop

Jimmy Cliff - You Can Get It If You Really Want

A few wacky tracks :p

Pato Banton - (I) Don't Sniff (the) Coke (I Only Smoke)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cln4UTA5wzA

JAH Roots - Good Highs

Not a big fan of R&B, but this FIFA10 anthem is pretty inspirational imo

R. Kelly - Sign of a Victory

Stretching slightly far here, but if you do like Bob Marley.. Plenty of relaxing music from his usual militant approach, like: Easy Skanking, Kaya, Jamming, Buffalo Soldier etc.

EDIT: Don't know if anyone posted this, but the legendary

Bobby McFerrin - Don't Worry be Happy

Bobby McFerrin - Don't Worry be Happy

You know I was going to suggest that but I thought it was too happy. That song reminds me of the United Nations, because when I was ten I went to the U.N. and that was the big new song at the time and my sister kept on singing over and over again.

I like a lot of Motown stuff, it is amazing but Smokey Robinson can put a song out on any subject and it still sounds happy. Tears of a Clown is a perfect example of this.

Also, go with the Temptations, their music is always a great mood lifter. And so of it was written by Smokey Robinson.
