1234
Just curious whether anyone has added any WMMA guys to TEW. Of course there is Buddy Garner, Mike Watson, Raul Hughes, etc. but am wondering whether anyone has added any more. I am probably going to add some to the default database soon, but was wondering whether anyone else had done something similar (No need to do it myself if someone has already done similar). And out of curiosity what stats would you say should be based on WMMA stats. Of course Menace goes to Menace, Charisma to Charisma, etc. But should someones WMMA submission skills directly influence his TEW technical skills? Should a fighters striking be considered when looking at his brawling skills? I have not really done modding before so just looking for a few tips and a bit of help. Eidenhoek
I'd say that striking should go to brawling and technical skills go to Mat wrestling (looking at Oleg Dorosklov) and Submissions over...the other technical skill. Main penalty I'd give them is lower psychology and selling.
1234
I know some things I could base on my personal opinion when doing this depending on how good I want each person to come into the game, but does this look about right for an MMA fighter (Rafael van der Moot if you actually want to compare from WMMA): http://img1.UploadScreenshot.com/images/main/6/16510253436.jpg Of course his mic/looks were pretty much directly copied from WMMA, I havent just set them low because he is a fighter. But for his actual wrestling skills is that about right. (I want to check because I have high in-game expectations from workers, which generally leads to me rating people to high to fit my expectations or far too low.) Eidenhoek
I guess he wasn't much of a submissions guy, eh That...works, I guess. He's in the league of Edison and York (not very good performers), but...I could see him getting picked up somewhere. How old is he? 5 years of development and that guy could be fantastic. Na, he has decent submissions, but he is a Kickboxer with a "World Class Striking" background, who is damn near impossible to get to the floor. I have him as a 23 year old, but it is one of my debating points. The WMMA database starts in 1998, where Moot is 23. And I want the ages to be the same in both games, as I am intending to run a WMMA & TEW game side-by-side, so it means in TEW he is 23 in 2010. However this causes problems with the already in game WMMA cross-overs, Buddy Garner, etc. who have aged properly. The problem of course being in WMMA Garner starts off 26, wheras in TEW he is 37. So obviously no crossover potential there. So my options are either bump Moot up to 35 to match the other WMMA guys in TEW. Edit the guys who are in Tew's ages in WMMA to match up with TEW. Or edit their TEW ages down. Not quite sure what I will be doing yet. And I wouldn't expect his skills to increase that much, he is only going to make rare appearances in TEW, and most of them won't be in a wrestling role. I will bring him in occasionally under the story that he is hyping an upcoming fight he has in my WMMA game, but that will just be an appearance or a role similar to Tyson when he had a few appearances in the WWF. I have just put wrestling stats in for if I ever do decide to let him switch over from MMA to Wrestling, even if just for a short run.
Bigpapa42
Interesting idea. I was going to create and important Zvonomir Asanovic into my last SWF diary game but as a non-wrestler. He was going to be introduced as an enforcer and trainer for Eric Eisen, who would basically end up playing a role similar to Mike Tyson with D-X... including the knock out. No idea why I picked Asanovic, beyond the similarities to Mirko Crocop. I think you could make a case for almost anyone with an MMA background would have strong Submissions in pro wrestling terms. Even if its not a real strength of their fighting game, they are likely to have a good understanding of using submissions. So in pro wrestling, they might not be able to pretzel into the complicated ones, but I think they could make the more basic ones look very realistic and to me, that's part of what that attribute would include. I agree that most fighters should have good submissions but Moot is an exception to me. I don't know whether its just because of the fights I have had him in, but he has pretty much been a kickboxer rather than an MMA fighter for me. He doesn't go for takedowns, rarely clinches, and never gets taken down. He is just a pure striker. I think I have severly under-rated his wrestling skills though, so I will probably bump up his technical skills a bit. I never really thought "ok MMA skill equates to good wrestling skill." And yeah, Zvonomir is on my list too. He just seems like the guy who will walk into the cage and try to knee your skull in, or could be presented that way in a wrestling environment atleast. I was looking at Billy Russell to see what that stat should be (since Russell is an WMMA crossover), but must have accidentally copied Respect to Reputation. Good catch, thanks.
