Yelawolf

ECW 2.0

Recommended Posts

IMO is the next big thing in Hip Hop if handled right. Has recently signed a deal with Shady Records and his first Album drop sometime this summer.

Here is some of his stuff

Great song with a group who also just signed to Shady, Slaughterhouse. Yela comes last in the song

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C5SuZmz8J8c&feature=related Yelas part starts at 3:30

Eh, I am not sold. There are parts I like, but I looked past just those links to others as well. There are somethings where I am like okay he is good and then okay he needs work. I don't know what it is personally he has a weird style of rapping.

I think the big players in hip hop are the ones who when they start rapping you just stop and listen. Em, Wayne, Jay-z, Kayne, etc are names that do this, I am personally just not sold on him. He could turn into something great, but time will tell.

I'm not a fan of Yela. his Trunk Muzik was overrated and I haven't heard him spit any of quality on shady yet.

In fact since this whole Shady 2.0 I haven't hardly heard any spit a decent verse let alone a decent track.

In fact I think the best thing to come out of the new Shady crew so far is Lighters with Royce, Em and Bruno Mars.

Then again I only liked about half of Recovery. I didn't need 18 songs talking about how you were getting over your drug addiction and getting back to music and really thats all I got. Songs about your drug period, songs about your recovery, and songs about how you're getting back to your old self.

Anyway BIG Gibbs fan.

While I'm ranting I'll say that Lupe's album wasn't any good either so this isn't just Em hate either.

Watched him at last years Rock the Bells and was very impressed. He had just signed with Interscope at that time, but as we know now nothing has really come of it. He's got the talent and I think Shady Records is the best place for him. His development in to the mainstream has less to do with him as it is with his management/labels so hopefully Shady Records is his last stop and we can start getting wide release albums now.

Well, "supergroup" :p. They have an album coming out this year I believe but I wouldn't expect anything long term. But more of an off-and-on type thing since the members all have their own things as well.

Speaking of Royce da 5'9", if you guys haven't gotten Bad Meets Evil's (Royce and Em) Hell: The Sequel you really should. Fantastic stuff.

Overall I really liked the album, but half of it I thought was superb. You're Never Over is by far my favorite track. The emotion in the song from Em to Proof is simply amazing.

As I said above I think Hell: The Sequel is fantastic. I'm one of the few who isn't that high on Lighters. However, I really enjoy Above the Law. I think one of the best "tracks" from that is actually the intro "Welcome 2 Hell". Overall, I really enjoy most of it.

Everybody's taste (especially in hip hop) are differen but what exactly didn't you like about Lighters? To me it kind of felt like Airplanes in that good kind of emotional way.

I also enjoyed Fast Lane.

I didn't enjoy The Reunion even though its been getting a ton of hype as the best track on the album.

As for REC my favorite track always changes between Cold Wind Blows and Going Through Changes. No Love was good, Talking 2 Myself was good, You're Never Over was good. 25 to Life is good.

But then I absolutely hated Won't Back Down, WTP, Seduction, Spacebound, and So Bad. Not hated but let me put it this way there are barely more tracks on Recovery I like than on Encore.

With Evil Deeds, Never Enough, Encore, Spend Some Time, Toy Soldiers, Mockingbird and Yellow Brick Road.

So thats like seven tracks from Encore and maybe that amount or a few more from REC that I liked.

Em's going to get better know because his ghost writer (Royce) is back with him.

I'm sure you're joking since you know Royce hasn't been around Em since 1999 when Royce bailed on being his hype man in the middle of his tour.

Not too mention Royce has fallen off as badly as Em has recently. Maybe they both need a ghost writer. I wonder what Dre's doing (I'm aware in the irony of Dre being someone's ghost writer).

I really also enjoy what I've heard of Hell: The Sequel, Fast Lane originally blew me away when I first heard it, then I moved on to the next leak, I'm On Everything which I also like. Have mostly heard Above the Law and Loud Noises by now which I fairly appreciate. Can't say I'm a big fanatic of Lighters though, just not to my liking though the lyrics sound decent on there too.

How you feel about Recovery is probably also the same I feel about Lasers. Great individual tracks I can bump but others that I def can't stand. Still bummed Lupe chose to make Out of my Head a single.

Wouldn't say Royce fell off, he can still rap his ass off, he just needs to learn how to pick a damn beat. That's always been his problem though.

Not trying to knock off Yela, the dude is sick and talented...but I recently just heard a new cat who's even sicker than him, sick enough to make me wonder what the hell Eminem is doing right now that's so important that he hasn't signed this kid yet!

Tom P

Simple name to remember and one I can easily see being a household name in a couple of years if he keeps doing what he's doing.

Really not into rap. I like Tupac, Coolio(go ahead and laugh...), and some old school Public Enemy, NWA, and Ice Cube, and Eazy E.

But wow, I'm really liking Hopsin.

Yea, I haven't heard a song that I haven't liked.

Whats your favorite song by Hopsin?

I've only listened to a handful so far.

I'm listening to Break It Down at the moment. Kill Her was pretty awesome and I liked It's All Good Now

You should listen to Nocturnal rainbows and Chris Domelth. Two of my favorites.

God the more I listen to of Hopsin, the more I love the guy. I just heard his song with Tech N9ne and B.o.B and it was amazing.

Really loving all the bashing of Lil Wayne though. God I hate Lil Wayne.

Hopsin is amazing he reminds me of Eminem back in the day.
