Tony McCall at GAMMA 53 on Jun 4, 2005 in Atlantic City, NJ, USA GAMMA Heavyweight Players: Christopher Sharp (26-2, 18-2 GAMMA) Unquestionably the best fighter in GAMMA's history, Sharp's only two blemishes come against Rob Baines and Raul Hughes. Despite that, he boasts an impressive 17 finishes inside the GAMMA Cage including a three-peat over rival James Foster. Sherwin Bond (10-0, 1-0 GAMMA) A highly touted boxer and BJJ fighter, the ultra-charismatic Bond debuted in the Cage at GAMMA 52 by submitting Australian fighter Kalepo Sefo in the third round. A former champion in SIGMA, he returns to action at GAMMA 54 against Marvin Stevens. Jeff Carlton (13-2, 5-2 GAMMA) A former Heavyweight champ, Carlton has never been taken to a decision which makes him a huge favourite in the eyes of the fans. With four wins in his past five fights, Carlton has been out of action for over a year but plans to return before the end of 2005. Nate McReary (7-0, 2-0 GAMMA) Perhaps the rating is a little high, but "Big Mac" started his GAMMA career off strongly with wins over John Rivero and the hard-hitting Pavel Papkou. After plying his trade in Canada and Brazil, it looks as if McReary is being lined up for an end-of-year bout with Carlton. Gunnar Nilsson (23-5, 3-0 GAMMA) At 40 years of age, Nilsson only steps inside the Cage intermittently as shown by just three GAMMA fights in nearly three years. He took two of them by split decision and one by unanimous decision which has stifled his rise a little bit after making a hotly anticipated debut, but he gets a big chance to show his wares against James Foster at GAMMA 54. James Foster (17-3, 12-3 GAMMA) After making his debut at GAMMA 12, Foster has built himself a legion of fans to be unquestionable MMA's biggest star and the poster boy of the sport as it came from the dark ages in the early 1990s. The only blemish is his friend and rival Christopher Sharp - the champ has finished Foster three times (twice in the first round) and continues to be a thorn in his side. Taking six months out of the game, he returns against fellow MMA veteran Gunnar Nilsson at GAMMA 54. --- This is part of my long-running GAMMA game that began at GAMMA 1. The universe is heavily modified with the new renders and such, so I'll do my best to keep you guys informed as to who is who.

Recently coached the first ever GAMMA Gladiator television show against Lewis Cox before coming out at GAMMA 52 and finishing him inside of a minute. Junior Patinkin (9-0, 1-0 GAMMA) At 35 years of age, Patinkin got his break in GAMMA by becoming the first Light Heavyweight GAMMA Gladiator with a unanimous decision win over Junior Patinkin. Training with American Cage Fighters alongside Rufus Stephens and Petey Mack, he faces returning Light Heavyweight Lewis Cox at GAMMA 54. Joshua Hope (8-0, 0-0 GAMMA) A highly touted youngster who has plied his trade in Canada, the US and Japan. He most recently impressed in Japanese promotion ALPHA-1 with a win over Curt Kitson. Marlon John (12-1, 0-0 GAMMA) A former title contender in ALPHA-1 (he lost to Tadamasa Yamada), John joins GAMMA with huge hype and debuts at GAMMA 54 against youngster Mike Watson. His biggest career win came in 2001 against then 13th ranked fighter Jaromir Grygera. Joaquim Fontes (15-3, 10-3 GAMMA) A two-time GAMMA Light Heavyweight champion, Fontes is one of the most successful Brazilian fighters in the world and quite a popular one at that. He finds himself in another title fight at GAMMA 54: this time against Osmosis Benn who he lost to in 2001. Leon Banks (25-8, 12-7 GAMMA) A fighter who has competed a staggering nineteen times in GAMMA since he debuted in 1995, Banks picked up his best streak in 1999-2000 when he strung four wins together. He was cut in 2002 after successive losses to Christopher Sharp, Raul Hughes and John Rivero. Despite going 6-1 at heavyweight since being cut, he returns to face GAMMA Gladiator Junior Patinkin at 205. Lewis Cox (17-7-1, 13-6 GAMMA) Like Banks, he's fought nineteen times and predominantly at 265. After stints in Russia and Japan, he returned to GAMMA in 2000 but struggled against the new generation of heavyweights. With wins over former title contenders Daniel Popovic and Maarten de Vries, he earned himself a slot as coach on The GAMMA Gladiator but lost his title fight in an embarrassing first round defeat to Benn. Rob Baines at GAMMA 55 on Oct 16, 2005 in Uncasville, CT, USA GAMMA Middleweight Players: Buddy Garner (12-0, 6-0 GAMMA) The current Middleweight champion, 30-year old Garner is a meticulous planner and has fought just six times since his debut in the Cage in 2001 at GAMMA 33. After an amazing run of first round submission victories over Carson Neuwirth, Rufus Stephens, Sebastian Schiller and title contender Otto Cascudo, Garner finally earned a title shot as he submitted Neil Napier in just two minutes. Perhaps the most feared jiu jitsu man in all of MMA, a few bouts of ankle surgery kept him out of action for all of 2004 before he returned in 2005 to submit Braulio Moura in just three minutes. He's finished all twelve of his fights in the first round and was last taken into a second in Indonesia in 2002 against Japanese fighter Ieyoshi Yama****a. Stuart Strange (12-0, 2-0 GAMMA) With TKO victories over Thomas Smith and Rufus Stephens, the 31-year old grappler looks like Garner's next opponent if the champ is prepared to return before the new year. He's perhaps a win away and might look to make an appearance on a card in the next few months to sure up his title credentials. Neil Napier (13-1, 7-1 GAMMA) A stalwart of the GAMMA Middleweight division, Napier defended his title twice before being taken out by Garner. It took him a year to return from that loss to produce a comprehensive decision win against Rufus Stephens and he looks to return before Christmas to relaunch his assault on the title. Rob Baines (25-6, 14-3 GAMMA) This winter, "The Sandman" is back! After an on-again off-again relationship with GAMMA which saw him stripped of two titles to take huge contracts in Japan, the GAMMA 1 tournament champion recently inked a third stint in the USA. Amazingly just 34 years of age, Baines' most recent fight ended in a second loss to Tadamasa Yamada. A champion at 265 and 205, he looks to make history at 185 to become the first champion in three weight classes. Matthew Dean (26-2, 5-2 GAMMA) Once unstoppable, Dean was a 24-0 light heavyweight when he beat Dennis Gibbs at GAMMA 22. Then he took three years off to further a wrestling career before returning at GAMMA 40 to hand Osmosis Benn his first defeat. After dropping a return bout at GAMMA 47, he dropped to middleweight and in the process dropped a shock split decision loss to Braulio Moura. Petey Mack (12-1, 4-0 GAMMA) A top quality grappler, Mack continues to carve out a name for himself at 185 after beating Alex Cole in the first Global Fight Night by decision in August. With an impressive resume only dented by a loss to Gempachi Higa in Japan four years ago, Mack is a real prospect. Hunter Scribbins (7-1, 1-1 GAMMA) After coasting to a win over Adam White at the GAMMA Gladiator Finale to become the first Middleweight Gladiator, Scribbins was given a very winnable fight against Templeton Crumb at GAMMA 53. The South African won by suffocating decision to derail the 26-year old's title hopes for now.

After debuting at GAMMA 16 to beat Dennis Gibbs and then bowing out with a 1-2 record in 1999, a 6-1 record over five years earned him a title shot straight away upon returning to GAMMA. In three rounds he picked Webb apart with fearsome striking before becoming the fifth welterweight champion in impressive style. Julio Regueiro (18-2, 9-2 GAMMA) At one stage, Regueiro looked unstoppable with crisp striking and fantastic submissions but his two losses - Aldarisio and McClay - have seen him struggle against good wrestling against bigger opponents. Since his GAMMA 42 loss to McClay, Julio has stopped Yevgeni Sipatov, Geoff Cahill and Beau Gorshin and truly deserves a second shot at the title. Charles McClay (12-2, 7-2 GAMMA) MMA's most hated man, McClay manages to make enemies out of all of his opponents with his spiteful trashtalking style that would have made him a great professional wrestler were he not 5'6". His big mouth is backed up inside the Cage with wins over Beau Gorshin, Julio Reguiero, Yevgeni Sipatov and former ALPHA-1 contender Iain Fussell. David Webb (17-2, 8-2 GAMMA) GAMMA's most successful welterweight, the Brit became the second UK champion at GAMMA 42 where he beat Josh Aldarisio by split decision and then again by guillotine a few months later. After two title defences, he suffered a wake up call against Chambers and is looking to avenge a GAMMA 31 loss to Julio Regueiro as a springboard to Chambers. Josh Aldarisio (17-5, 10-5 GAMMA) One of MMA's most interesting stories, Aldarisio fought as a drastically undersized heavyweight in MMA's early days and managed wins over Stafford Alois and Norbert Vinkus. Clearly the size was too much against Raul Hughes and James Foster so he made the transition to 170 where he enjoyed a lot of success. After duel losses to David Webb, he's rebuilt himself with decision wins over Geoff Cahill and Ichisake Miyagi.

Ian Hughes at GAMMA 52 on Apr 16, 2005 in Las Vegas, NV, USA GAMMA Lightweight Players: Sean Morrison (27-2, 6-1 GAMMA) Morrison came into GAMMA on a five-fight tear and quickly set about taking the title with wins over Shizuya Nakae and David Allen. At 23-1, Morrison was stunned by Alan Kendall at GAMMA 39 and set about restoring his pride with destructive wins over Gregg Grable and Frank Romita. Earning a rematch at GAMMA 50, Morrison finished Kendall in the third round and then made his first successful defence against Aussie Ian Hughes at GAMMA 52. David Allen (13-1-2, 5-1 GAMMA) GAMMA's second lightweight champion, Allen has fought just three times for three wins since his 2002 loss to Morrison as he continues to expand his arsenal with a more confident striking game. It was on show at GAMMA 49 with a TKO win over Noah Smithee. Alan Kendall (16-3, 8-3 GAMMA) The last of the "big three" at lightweight and GAMMA's first champion at 155, Kendall has not set foot inside the Cage since dropping the title to Morrison at GAMMA 50. He will be forever remembered for his stunning win by triangle over Morrison in 2002, but he was shown up in their rematch by a more complete lightweight champ. Fiyero Lermontov (11-0-1, 1-0 GAMMA) The supremely talented Russian made his North American debut at Global Fight Night as he eased to a unanimous decision win over GAMMA Gladiator Middleweight competitor Elvis Milissis. Very quick with an accurate and powerful jab, Lermontov is a fearsome opponent because of the lack of real holes in his MMA game. Gregg Grable (18-3, 3-1 GAMMA) Grable came into GAMMA with a fantastic record in a competitive ALPHA-1 lightweight division, but was taught a lesson by Sean Morrison in a submission loss in his third GAMMA fight. He rebounded by taking out Lukas Mellberg by decision earlier this year and looks to rebound in the coming months. H.M. Menzel (11-2, 5-2 GAMMA) A very popular wrestler with a growing stand-up game, Menzel is a former title competitor who was four seconds away from being champion at GAMMA 41. In the fight many dubbed as the one that made the lightweight division, Menzel was on route to a decision win against Kendall before being taken out by TKO by the resilient champ. He rebounded with back-to-back wins, but his title hopes suffered a setback at Fight Night with a disappointing submission loss to Brandon Sugar. Brandon Sugar (22-6, 1-0 GAMMA) A submission expert, Sugar earned his GAMMA debut at Fight Night and stunned the popular H.M. Menzel with a guillotine choke. After inconsistent runs in Indonesia and the US, his signing with GAMMA was somewhat of a surprise but he certainly made the most of it.

Scottie
"GAMMA 54: Boiling Point" preview: Fontes looks for triple threat This Sunday Joaquim Fontes (15-3, 10-3 GAMMA) looks to become GAMMA light heavyweight champion for a third time in his second meeting against current champ Osmosis Benn (16-1, 9-1 GAMMA). The 30-year old bounced back from defeats to Benn and Maarten de Vries to beat Mark Cohen and George Laurent to earn another shot at the title - a shot many people suggest he doesn't deserve. In their previous meeting at GAMMA 34, Fontes' four-fight tear was put to an end as the then undefeated Benn tore through him in the second round with ferocious ground and pound. Following that fight, Benn has gone 4-1 and continues to grow in the estimation of many MMA fans after his first minute TKO over Lewis Cox at GAMMA 52. Clearly the fight will involve a battle of Benn's growing stand up and damaging top game against Fontes' jiu jitsu which is some of the best in MMA. Benn has not really faced a fighter with weapons off their back like Fontes has (other than Fontes), but dealt with it comfortably in 2001. He's grown since then, too, and should be too much for the Brazilian. Prediction: Osmosis Benn by TKO. Boyer looks to continue winning ways In an odd choice for the co-headliner, former title contender Tim Boyer (19-6, 5-4 GAMMA) looks to continue his winning ways against undefeated American sambo star Nick Johnson (6-0, 1-0 GAMMA). It is a huge step up for Johnson who debuted on the undercard of GAMMA 51, and at just 5 ft 11 in he faces a real test against one of MMA's tallest competitors. That fight involved a convincing win over veteran Frank Sheedy, but as the fight went on it was clear that his conditioning was a problem despite his impressive ability to keep Sheedy down. In contrast, Boyer's problems have come against other strikers with the popular 36-year old coming into the fight with a record of 1-2 in his past three fights. Before his unconvincing unanimous decision win over Marvin Stevens in February, Boyer had his lights turned off by Tony McCall's right hand. For Boyer to remain relevant, he needs to win a fight like this against a man whose striking isn't particularly great and who suffers from a huge reach disadvantage. We doubt how much time Boyer has left, but if he can find the form that saw him KO Denys Davydov and Rick Stanley he should win. Even if he can't, he should be able to pick him away with that strong jab. Prediction: Tim Boyer by decision. Foster, Nilsson meet in veterans clash With ten wins from his past eleven fights, Swedish "Superman" Gunnar Nilsson (23-4, 3-0 GAMMA) competes in the biggest fight of his long career against GAMMA superstar James Foster (17-3, 12-3 GAMMA). While Nilsson has served his time in Europe, Japan and Indonesia, Foster is pretty much a career GAMMA man with all but five of his victories coming with the North American promotion. Despite the hype that accompanied Nilsson as he entered GAMMA, the Swede has not been particularly inspiring with decision wins over Ari Peltonen, John Kramer and Kalepo Sefo - the first two coming by split decision. Indeed, the Swede has prevailed by decision in his past six fights - his last finish coming by way of armbar against Veeti Kuqi in Indonesia back in 2001. Meanwhile, Foster comes into his 21st career fight having suffered his third career defeat to Christopher Sharp in October of last year. After the Sharp loss ended a five-fight losing streak, Foster looks to continue his run through the rest of GAMMA's heavyweights against another big name in MMA. Nilsson's best chance is his submissions, but Foster is not the guy to use them on as he will struggle to control the American on the mat. Foster, meanwhile, is still one of the best grapplers in the heavyweight division and this bout is tailormade for a finish to get him back on track. Prediction: James Foster by TKO. Patinkin looks to return Banks homecoming GAMMA Gladiator 1: Light Heavyweights winner Junior Patinkin (9-0, 1-0 GAMMA) looks to win his first fight outside of the competition in GAMMA as he takes on GAMMA legend Leon Banks (25-8, 12-7 GAMMA). While some suspected Patinkin might be given a tune up fight, he was thrown straight to the wolves against a veteran of 19 fights with the promotion. Patinkin breezed through the house in the Gladiator competition and claimed his six-figure contract with a decision win over Lawrence Herringbone in April. With just nine MMA fights under his belt, it is easy to lose sight of the fact that he is actually three years older than the 32-year old Banks who already has 33 MMA fights. After making his debut for GAMMA way back at GAMMA 6, a six-year affair came to an end in 2001 as he was, somewhat unfairly to some, cut after a submission loss to an overweight John Rivero. After that ill-fated drop to 205, he's gone 6-1 in his past seven appearances at 265 with his only loss coming to Pai Cheng in April last year. With 14 (T)KO victories to his name in his past 26 fights, Banks is a real threat to Patinkin if the fight remains standing. Patinkin, however, is a supreme wrestler at this level and despite being older than Banks his body is younger in an MMA sense. He looked class in the Gladiator tournament, and we think he'll be too much for the veteran. Prediction: Junior Patinkin by submission. Fussell looks for Russian redemption British welterweight Iain Fussell (11-4, 0-1 GAMMA) comes into GAMMA 54 on a two-fight skid after his three-year stint in Japan was ended by Jonathan Huang and his North American stint started with a decision loss to Charles McClay. Up against Russian veteran Yevgeni Sipatov (28-9, 6-4 GAMMA), Fussell has the chance to put his career back on track with an opponent who has struggled against the top shelf welterweights. Indeed, the Russian's four GAMMA losses have come against a "whose-who" of 170 pounders - Christian Mountfield, Julio Regueiro, Charles McClay and David Webb. While Sipatov fought well to submit Wilson Semler in his last outing, the 26-year old Brit holds legit MMA wins and good skills on his feet and on the ground. Prediction: Iain Fussell by decision. Scottie
"GAMMA 54: Boiling Point" main-card results: Benn takes out Fontes, Nilsson stuns Foster by John Traveller on Aug 21, 2005 at 12:10 am ET LAS VEGAS - For two rounds it looked as if Joaquim Fontes might become a three-time GAMMA light heavyweight champion. A massive underdog in his second meeting against Benn, Fontes started like a shot as he became just the third man to successfully take champ Osmosis Benn down to counter a right hand. It was the massive question mark against Benn - how would he go on his back? Pretty well, if the first round was anything to go by. Fontes continually looked for submission attempts, and although Benn was unable to shift the Brazilian grappler off of him he didn't go close to succumbing to any of his submission attempts. Still alarm bells had to be ringing. There was an ominous feeling of something special happening in the MGM Grand Arena as Fontes began the second round by taking Benn down immediately. All of a sudden one of the best wrestlers on the planet was being schooled by a jiu jitsu star. After taking the first two rounds comfortably on all scorecards, trouble hit for Fontes. Benn finally got off a takedown attempt after some early standing exchanges and charged Fontes into the mat. Any chance of Fontes pulling something off with Benn inside of his guard was quickly extinguished as Benn passed him with ease. From full mount it academic - Benn pounded away with his trademark ground and pound. Fontes tried to turn out of it, but ended up pinned on his side and in a whole world of trouble. The referee gave him time before pulling Benn off to complete a seventeenth MMA victory for the light heavyweight champ. "I was surprised by the way he fought tonight," Benn said following the fight. "I expected a whole lot more punches and stuff from him, so I had to adjust to that pretty quick." Following the win, Benn was asked whether he underestimated Fontes' wrestling ability. "It was certainly far better than I expected," Benn said. "I think that first time ... I think I hurt my hip pretty bad. I just wanted to get in and out quick, but we'll get that checked out." With the win, Benn (17-1, 10-1 GAMMA) keeps his streak alive and looks to a rest for the rest of 2005. Meanwhile Fontes (15-4, 10-4) suffers a fourth career defeat and his second to Benn. Boyer back on track after edging out Johnson Bouncing back from a string of losses, Tim Boyer returned to the winner's circle with a hard-fought win over American samba competitor Nick Johnson by unanimous decision. The bout, which co-headlined GAMMA 54, saw the hyped Canadian striker Boyer use his sizeable reach advantage to pick Johnson apart from a distance. He didn't land a lot, but took almost no damage himself from the American. As the "USA" chants rang around the arena, Johnson began to work his way back into the fight and get inside of the range of Boyer to land some heavy combinations. While Boyer looked to press Johnson up against the fence, it was clear that Boyer was beginning to slow and Johnson was starting to work him over. Despite visible signs of exhaustion, Boyer pressed harder in the third round and looked to have done enough with his striking to steal a decision. The judges agreed and awarded him the fight 29-28 across all scorecards. "I don't really know what happened in the third frame," a heavy-breathing Boyer said in the post-fight interview. "I went really hard in the first round and felt good, but I just sort of stopped in the third round." The former title contender said he was surprised with Johnson's tactics. "His second round was the only time he ever had me in trouble," he said. "I expected him to come out like that in the third, but I think he was pretty tired to." Gracious in victory after a sustained campaign of trash-talking, Boyer (20-6, 6-4 GAMMA) continues to rebuild his record after a bad run last year. Meanwhile Johnson (6-1, 1-1 GAMMA) suffers his first loss inside the Cage after debuting on the GAMMA 51 undercard. Foster left pondering future after Nilsson secures surprise win Swedish MMA veteran Gunnar Nilsson has issued a challenge to GAMMA heavyweight champ Christopher Sharp after a shock decision victory over former champion James Foster. In a fight really deserving of co-main event status, most favoured the American Foster who got a rousing reception as he was announced. While many hardcore MMA fans are familiar with Nilsson, he was a relative nobody in Las Vegas who were controlled in their reaction to the Swede. Foster's much vaunted wrestling was put to the test as the 6 ft 5 in Swede managed to take him down twice inside the first frame. No matter what Foster tried, Nilsson was just too big for the 230 pounder as he hurt him badly in the second round after sprawling a takedown. Battered and bruised, and also down on the judges' scorecards, Foster's corner made it clear that he needed a finish to get something out of the fight. He finally managed to get a tiring Nilsson down and at one point looked as if he might pull off a stunning victory as he had Nilsson in an arm triangle. The Swede survived and managed to wait out the round below the American to take a 29-28 decision. the 40-year old Nilsson was frank about his prospects following the fight. "At my age I know I don't have many chances left," he said. "I needed the win tonight to have a chance at the title, and I will do everything I can to get that shot." A dejected Foster waited until later to collect his thoughts. "Tonight was really disappointing for me in every way imaginable," he told the waiting media. "Gunnar fought really well and he's a great fighter, but with the way I fought I need to take a few step backs and reconsider where I'm at." Nilsson (24-4, 4-0 GAMMA) takes his fourth straight GAMMA win by decision and puts himself in as good a position as any to earn a title shot. Foster (17-4, 12-4 GAMMA) suffers his first MMA defeat to someone other than Christopher Sharp and consecutive losses for the first time in his career. Banks strong in return, outlasts "The Iron Man" For the second time, a GAMMA Gladiator's main card GAMMA debut has ended in defeat as Junior Patinkin dropped a split decision to returning GAMMA veteran Leon Banks. In his first fight for GAMMA since departing on a three-fight skid in 2001, Banks was labelled as "cannon fodder" against Patinkin who impressed so many during his stint on the GAMMA Gladiator. It was clear that Patinkin's wrestling was always going to be too much for Banks as he took him down in the first frame, but what the fans didn't count on was just how sharp Banks looked in his striking. The slugger looked more refined in his return to the Cage than he did in his "thug-style" days and continually hurt Patinkin with some massive strikes. After knocking the Iron Man down in the second round, Banks continued to cause Patinkin troubles in the third. In a close round, the GAMMA Gladiator managed to take Banks down and keep him there after being saved by an iron jaw against some damaging strikes earlier in the round. The third round could have gone either way, but two of the judges awarded it - and the fight - to the veteran Banks by split decision. "Everyone talks about his wrestling, but I was really confident I could hurt him on his feet," Banks said. "Dudes got a rock solid chin, I'll give him that. But I'm happy with my performance." Banks (26-8, 13-7 GAMMA) takes his first victory at 205 and goes to 7-1 in his past eight fights. Patinkin (9-1, 1-1 GAMMA), meanwhile, joins Hunter Scribbins as a former Gladiator who suffered defeat in his first fight after the show. Sipatov dominates Fussell en route to decision win Russian welterweight Yevgeni Sipatov continued his winning ways in GAMMA and used suffocating wrestling to earn a dominant unanimous decision victory over former ALPHA-1 contender Iain Fussell. Sipatov's gameplan was clear early: avoid Fussell's striking with a steady stream of takedowns and typical lay-and-pray style. A frustrated Fussell was continually denied the opportunity to strike as Sipatov continually battered him from the clinch and overpowered him with his grappling background. It was never going to be a fight the crowd would enjoy, and the Russian was subject to continued booing from the crowd as he looked intent on keeping out of any striking battle. While it wasn't a great spectacle, it worked for Sipatov who collected the victory 30-27 across all scorecards. "I make no apologies for the way I fight," Sipatov said. "This is my job and he looks to take it from me." The victory does nothing for Sipatov (28-9, 7-4 GAMMA) in terms of marketability, but he notches up back-to-back wins. The Englishman Fussell (11-5, 0-2 GAMMA) suffers a second straight defeat inside the Cage. kaneso14
Hey man, this looks great! I'm also starting a GAMMA Diary myself, I started playing the game in 1998 but waited until 2001 to start the diary. What data are you using? Did you modify it yourself? If so, it's awesome!
Scottie
Thanks mate. Using my own data with a number of additions. It is somewhere in the mods forum... I'll link it later. GAMMA Matchmaker Blog: "GAMMA 54: Boiling Point" review by Scott Davis on Aug 25, 2005 at 13:30 pm ET A hell of a night of fights at GAMMA 54 makes my job that much tougher as we move into the tail end of 2005. A lot of people criticised us for giving Fontes another shot at Benn considering their last fight, but he proved a lot of people wrong by showing just how professional he is. That's the most trouble I've seen Benn in - worse than the Dean fight he lost - but he showed just was a superstar he is with an impressive performance. At 17-1, the sky is the limit for him and we understand that he wants to fight again before the year is out. More on that later. We all know how good Tim Boyer is, but he showed that he'd added more strings to his bow in a strong performance against Nick Johnson. Tim went through a very tough run after earning a title shot, but he has managed to pick up a pair of victories against good opponents. He's worked very hard at Slaughterhouse to cut out some of the weaker parts of his MMA game, and now looks ready to face another step up in competition. Despite the loss, we were pleased to ink Johnson to a contract extension but concede it might have been too big a jump. As the readers of MMA World no doubt know, the Foster/Nilsson fight was a hell of a scrap and ultimately the Swede showed that you must discount him at your own peril. He fought a great fight against one of the best heavyweights in history and no doubt deserves to be in the reckoning for a title shot. His turnaround will be key - we'd ideally like to see Sharp back in action once more before the end of the year and a guy like Nilsson might not be ready in time. A win for Patinkin tonight would have earned him a title shot. Normally I wouldn't say it, but hopefully this makes him realise that he's not as far away as he thinks. It is great to see Leon Banks back inside the Cage. He had a rough time of it last time he was here, but he's a dream for a matchmaker like me because he never lets me down with a bad fight. Many people think we were feeding him to Patinkin, but he was a test we thought Junior needed to have before making the step up. I don't think Leon is ready for a title shot yet, but that will be something we will be discussing in the near future. People are all too ready to criticise Yevgeni Sipatov for his style, but you can't deny that the dude can fight. He was almost flawless against Iain Fussell and is ready to make the step up to fight one of the real top tier guys like Charles McClay. Unfortunately Fussell has now gone 0-2 and is clearly struggling to transition to bigger opponents and the caged environment. He's a great fighter, and I'm sure he will bounce back soon. (Editor note: Fussell was recently cut from his GAMMA contract.) As to the preliminary card - man, that was something special! Three finished show why there is always something amazing for those fans who spend their hard earned on a ticket to see our shows. Las Vegas saw Sherwin Bond show why he is one of the hottest tickets with MMA. Unfortunately, that is Marvin Stevens last fight with the promotion for now but I think he's good enough to bounce back. Bond hopefully will find himself on a main card, because the dude needs to be exposed to a wider audience. Marlon John had an unfortunate debut, but it just goes to show that GAMMA is the home of the world's best fighters. Mike Watson is no joke, though, man. To bounce back from a loss like that shows just how class the kid is. Finally, Reed Howlett has some balls to come out against a guy like Templeton Crumb and do what he did. Crumb was immense against Hunter Scribbins, but Howlett looks like the pick of those GAMMA Gladiator guys. What a showing. An awesome show in front of a hot crowd, and don't forget that GAMMA returns in a month on cable television for GAMMA Global Fight Night 2 and then a week later for "GAMMA 55: Fury". The main event of David Allen vs. Gregg Grable promises to be a showstopper. GAMMA matchmaker Scott Davis blogs each month exclusively for MMAworld.com. Scottie
"GAMMA Global Fight Night 2" preview: Allen looks to return to title talks The Global Association of Mixed Martial Arts serves up its third offering on Amerisport with a card headlined by lightweight contenders David Allen and Gregg Grable. Former lightweight champion Allen (13-1-2, 5-1 GAMMA) is one a three-fight tear after losing his title to Sean Morrison at GAMMA 35 and it appears clear that a win over Grable (18-3, 3-1 GAMMA) will earn him a shot at redemption. Grable, meanwhile, bounced back from a GAMMA 47 loss to Morrison with a decision victory over Swede Lukas Mellberg at GAMMA 51. Grable is a bit of an unknown quantity as he's not yet beaten a fighter of real note in the GAMMA Cage. Despite that, the former lightweight champion in Japan continues to ride high on his name value with the hardcore MMA crowd and his ability to put on entertaining fights like his three-round barnstormer against Chris Brady at GAMMA 41. Allen however thinks Grable is overmatched. "He had success in a country where his wrestling is exceptional," Allen told MMAworld. "Here he is nothing extraordinary and he doesn't have anything else. I'm going to take him out." Pope looks to mount title campaign Trash talking veteran Bobby Pope (17-7-2, 8-4 GAMMA) still harbours hopes of a shot at the GAMMA heavyweight title and expects to make an example of undefeated Canadian opponent Nate MacReary (7-0, 2-0 GAMMA). "He ain't ever fought a guy like me," Pope said in a telephone press conference days ago to MMAworld. "I'm bigger than him, I'm stronger than him, I'm better than him and I'm going to knock the [expletive] out." While the 35-year old who made his debut back at GAMMA 6 talks a big game, he faces a big task against MacReary who has gone undefeated in GAMMA with wins over John Rivero and Pavel Papkou. With two finishes under his belt, he poses a real threat to Pope whether "The Blessed" wants to admit it or not. "We all know he's got a weak chin," the normally reserved MacReary said. "I'm not just going to put him down with my hands, I'm going to knock him out." In his third GAMMA run, Pope has gone 3-1 with his sole loss coming to James Foster at GAMMA 46. Rejuvenated Stephens looks to but career back on track One-time #18 middleweight Rufus Stephens (16-5, 7-5 GAMMA) realises that his livelihood is on the line this Sunday against Norwegian opponent Thorbjorn Rekdal (9-1, 1 NC, 1-0 GAMMA). With a record of 2-3 in his past five fights, the Californian has struggled in his past two outings with losses to Neil Napier and Stuart Strange. "I fight best when I've got my back against the wall, man," Stephens said. "This guy is no joke, so I'm determined to show that I'm still relevant at 185." Stephens has resisted the temptation to drop to 170 lbs for years, but may be left with no option if he suffers another defeat. Rekdal debuted with a split decision win over Sutton Ripley at GAMMA 52, and is also a smallish middleweight. GG alumnus meets tough test In the opening fight of the main card, GAMMA Gladiator contestant Brody Howles (3-2, 1-0 GAMMA) meets the toughest test of his career in the form of Dutch grappler Faas Smit (25-8-1, 1-0 GAMMA). Howles exited the reality television show in the quarter finals, but won his first official GAMMA fight at the Finale where he smothered Tom Essy to a decision. He is a massive underdog against the MMA veteran Smit who expected to face Lawrence Herringbone before the Gladiator finalist withdrew with an injury. Smith carries a 5-1 record in his past six outings after a three-fight losing streak in 2000-01. kaneso14
Good to see Adam White get the win, he's really come on leaps and bounds in my GAMMA game and is one of my favourite fighters. I'm also interested to see in what Morrison has to say back to Allen as I always imagined him as a complete ass who will talk smack about his opponents and disrespect them! Scottie
"GAMMA 55: Garner vs. Baines" preview: The Sandman returns and looks to make history MMA legend Rob Baines (25-6, 14-3 GAMMA) returns to North America for the first time since 2000 as he attempts to make history to become the first fighter to win titles in three weight classes. The former heavyweight and light heavyweight champion makes his debut at 185 lbs against undefeated champion Buddy Garner (12-0, 6-0 GAMMA) in the headline of GAMMA 55 in Uncasville, CT. 34-year old Baines has fought fourteen of his past fifteen bouts in Japan where he has amassed a record of 11-3, but dropped his last bout against Tadamasa Yamada in July at "ALPHA-1 57: Yamada vs. Baines". The veteran has made just one appearance outside of ALPHA-1 since GAMMA 15 where he toppled current heavyweight champ Christopher Sharp; beating Dennis Gibbs in an unattractive main event at GAMMA 27 to win the light heavyweight title. But after a contract dispute soured the relations between Baines and GAMMA, he was lured back to North America for a five-fight deal and a title shot in his first fight back despite going 2-2 in his past four outings. "I love Japan, but this is where it all started for me," the Englishman told MMAWorld. "This is where I made my name and where all the doors opened up for me, and I am completely ready to be back." His opponent is arguably the finest BJJ practictioner in the world with all six of his victories inside the Cage coming by submission. Garner spoke highly of facing Baines - the man whose 25 victories include 23 by submission on a record that reads as a whose who of martial arts. "This is by far the biggest fight of my career," the usually reserved Garner told MMAWorld. "Rob is the first real star this business has ever had, and his submissions pretty much opened the door for guys like me, [MMA USA team mates] Osmosis [benn] and Darin [blood]." With victories over the likes of Sharp, Gibbs, Mantas Andreyev, Aleksei Chekhov and Lewis Cox, Baines felt confident of adding another notch to his belt. "I'm only four years older than Buddy, but the kid is an amazing fighter," Baines said. "I'm feeling great coming into this fight, and I'm expecting an absolute showstopper." Gilchrist hopefully of surviving tough test GAMMA Gladiator 1 semi-finalist Shane Gilchrist (9-4, 1-0 GAMMA) knows what it is like to compete inside the Cage, and hopes that will give him the edge against GAMMA debutant Joshua Hope (8-0, 0-0 GAMMA) in their bout this Sunday. Gilchrist, who earned a unanimous decision verdict from the judges at the GAMMA Gladiator Finale against Noah Cunningham in April, makes his pay-per-view debut against one of the world's top ranked light heavyweights. "A lot of these fellas from Japan have come with big wraps and probably haven't been able to back it up," the Australian said. "I've had a heap of experience inside the Cage which is a whole different ballgame to fighting in a ring." Gilchrist might not quite be on the money, though, with the Canadian-born Hope having fought twice for The Palms promotion inside a cage where he picked up first-round stoppages over GAMMA veterans Bryan van der Hauwe and Mantas Andreyev. "I don't know where he's got this idea that I don't know how to fight in a cage from," Hope said. "Whatever, man, he's going to see that I'm comfortable wherever." Hopes two most recent bouts saw him win by decision in Japan, but some martial arts websites rank him as high as number eight in the world. Carlton looks to enhance title credentials against GAMMA's grand old man Former heavyweight champ Jeff Carlton (13-2, 5-2 GAMMA) reckons he's just a win away from earning a shot at the title as he faces former contender Tony McCall (22-8-1, 7-5 GAMMA) this Sunday. Since dropping the title to Sharp back in 2002, the 38-year old Carlton has fought just twice and admits it isn't easy getting up for fights at this age. "I don't heal as quick as I used to," Carlton said. The TKO stoppage at GAMMA 39 was just his second career defeat, but since then he's bounced back with first round stoppages of former heavyweights Tank Manu'a and Duey Roth. When he steps inside the Cage this weekend, it will have been more than a year since he last fought. "I take it slow, man," he said. "I go fishing, I spend time with my family ... then I come in and I beat [expletive] up." McCall is one of just two men contracted to GAMMA who fought at its debut pay-per-view back in 1993. Also 38-years of age, he has a different take on the toll of the fighting game than Carlton. "I think he's just lazy," McCall said. "We all know he hasn't got any work ethic, and I'm going to pick him apart." Despite losing his last outing at GAMMA 53 against Christopher Sharp in the first round, McCall has enjoyed the most successful part of his career with a record of 3-1 in his past four fights. The reason according to Jeff Carlton? "He ain't ever fought a guy like me," he says is the reason. "I'm going to take him down, and I'm going to rearrange his face. That tattoo on his head [is] going to be the best looking thing about him." Crunch time for de Vries While he might be one of the most popular fighters in GAMMA, veteran Maarten de Vries (13-4, 7-4 GAMMA) recognises that he now faces a fight to stay relevant at 205 lbs. After again failing to win a high profile fight at GAMMA 50 - this time against Lewis Cox - the Dutchman continues to look for ways to shake the choker tag that has seen him never manage to win the GAMMA light heavyweight title. "The Cox fight was very disappointing for me," de Vries told MMAWorld. "I expected much better things from myself, but I failed to execute my gameplan. I know I can do better." He faces a new breed of fighter in GAMMA Gladiator finalist Lawrence Herringbone (7-3, 1-1 GAMMA). After the disappointment of missing out on a six-figure contract in April, Herringbone derailed the title hunt of Dejan Srebotnik in August with just seven seconds left in the fight. "Reality TV is a funny thing and I just didn't cope with it," Herringbone said in hindsight. "I had an actual camp for the first time in that fight and everything just clicked." A massive light heavyweight, Herringbone says that his main focus has been on his cardio and he's feeling fitter than ever. "The thing about de Vries is that he tries to set the pace with you," he said. "I know I can match it with him standing up, sitting down, hanging upside down - whatever - it's just about being able to do that for three rounds. "I'm confident I can." Aldarisio looks to stake his claim Rounding off a card stacked with former champions, welterweight veteran Josh Aldarisio (17-5, 8-5 GAMMA) looks to make it three wins in a row when he takes on Brazilian striker Wilson Semler (13-5, 1-1 GAMMA). Despite five losses in his GAMMA career, Aldarisio is quick to remind critics that his record at 170 lbs is a very respectable 6-2. "You can pretty much write off those first few years," Aldarisio said. "I was fighting guys fifty or sixty pounds heavier which was just nuts." Three of those losses came to heavyweights James Foster, Duey Roth and Raul Hughes and since then he's proved to be the most dominant grappler at 170 lbs. The big blemish on his record is back-to-back losses to David Webb in 2003 and it is something he wants to rectify on his way to a third stab at the title. "I don't know what's going on with Webb, but I'd love to go again with him," Aldarisio said. "I'm a better fighter than I was, and since I deserved to win that first fight I'd treat it as a rubber match." First he has to get past Semler who posted a win over Geoff Cahill in August. The 34-year old has fought right throughout the world, but comes into the bout as a massive underdog with the bookies. Scottie
FIGHTER IN FOCUS: Rob Baines http://i995.photobucket.com/albums/af77/gammadiary/Profile.jpg The original submission king of MMA, Baines returns home this Sunday to meet one of the top fighters in the world today in BUDDY GARNER. Winner of the "GAMMA 1" Tournament, a GAMMA Megafight, Heavyweight and Light Heavyweight Champion, The Sandman's achievements are unrivaled in MMA. Also notable is the classic trilogy with Russian striker ALEKSEI CHEKHOV, a win over highly touted grappler LEWIS COX and being one of just two men to hand heavyweight champ CHRISTOPHER SHARP a loss. Baines returned to GAMMA at "GAMMA 27" to win the light heavyweight championship, but a contractual dispute has seen him make a name for himself in Japan. A former ALPHA-1 Middleweight Champion, a 2001 loss to HEIJI ENDO looked like it might have ended his career before he returned three years later to beat JIN KATOU and RYOSEI SAKAMOTO. At 34 years of age, Baines is MMA's first true star and still has years ahead of him to cement that legacy. The question on everybody's lips is whether he is good enough to match the world's current submission king. http://i995.photobucket.com/albums/af77/gammadiary/Record-1.jpg
Scottie
"GAMMA 55: Garner vs. Baines" main-card results: Sloppy Baines rolled by Garner by Phil Plaice on Oct 17, 2005 at 01:15 am ET UNCASVILLE - MMA legend Rob Baines' GAMMA homecoming has been ruined with a first-minute submission loss to Buddy Garner. In the middleweight championship bout headlining the GAMMA 55 card, the 34-year old Brit was submitted from a dominant position as Garner improved his GAMMA record to 7-0. Cutting to 185 lbw for the first time in his MMA career, Baines looked drained and in the lead up many experts suggested that the drastic weight cut from the comfortable 93 kilograms (205 lbw) might cause him troubles. Still, Garner was caught by surprise in the opening exchanges as an attempted body kick from Baines was caught and the Englishman managed to take him down. But Garner has arguably the most dangerous guard in MMA, and he pulled off a swift transition to slap on a triangle choke. The former heavyweight and light heavyweight champ struggled, but was ultimately forced into tapping with both fighters still dry just 59 seconds in. "This is probably the most important victory of my career personally," an ecstatic Garner said in the post-match press conference. It was a measure of his respect for Baines as he abandoned celebrations to console the devastated veteran whose head was in his hands. "He was an idol of mine and an idol of all the submission guys right from the start," Garner added. "To win that way is bittersweet, you know, but it is certainly the proudest moment of my career." "He's an amazing fighter, there's no doubt about that," Baines said. "I felt pretty good coming into this fight … the cut was hard, but I was really feeling it. "I got sloppy there and he caught me. It's hard to judge a fighter when you only get a minute with him, but his results speak for themselves." With the victory, Garner (13-0, 7-0 GAMMA) completes his second title defence and amazingly extends his streak of first round stoppages to seven. Baines (25-7, 14-4 GAMMA) suffers back-to-back losses for the first time in his career and slumps to 2-3 in his past five bouts. Hope dominates Gilchrist to one-sided decision GAMMA debutant Joshua Hope has made a winning start to his career in the Californian-based promotion with a dominant victory over Australian fighter Shane Gilchrist. The ALPHA-1 veteran was the subject of a focussed hype campaign in the lead up to the fight, and proved too good for the GAMMA Gladiator semi finalist Gilchrist. With dominant wrestling, Hope routinely took Gilchrist down and in the first round looked to have it won with an armbar. Gilchrist survived through a great piece of scrambling, and then somehow repeated the feat in the second round. With two rounds under his belt, Hope played it safe to take Gilchrist down and do just enough to keep him there. Gilchrist continually looked for a kimura from the bottom, but there was no stopping Hope who earned a workmanlike 30-27 decision across all cards. "Make no mistake about it, he is a tough opponent," Hope said following the fight. "I thought I could finish him, but he's got some real balls." Hope (9-0, 1-0 GAMMA) starts with a win inside the Cage and maintains his undefeated record in MMA. Gilchrist (9-5, 1-1 GAMMA) suffers his first loss in a professional MMA fight under the GAMMA banner. Carlton edges closer to title shot Former heavyweight champion Jeff Carlton has moved closer to a second shot at the title after taking a close decision victory over fellow veteran Tony McCall. McCall, a GAMMA original, knew he was at a disadvantage if the fight went to the mat and did all he could to keep the fight standing. However the fight was characterised by the consistent takedowns from Carlton as McCall again struggled against a credentialed wrestler. Carlton immediately made his intentions clear in the first round to take McCall down immediately, but made the odd decision of searching for an armbar. McCall was prepared and managed to sweep the former champ before standing up immediately. With another takedown, the round was clearly Carlton's. For the second round running, Carlton caught a body kick from the kick boxer McCall and kept McCall on the mat. Despite the fight returning to the upright, the Carlton managed to take McCall down again. Clearly down two rounds, it was clear that McCall needed to finish Carlton in the third. Finally he managed to avoid being taken down, and although he clearly got the better of his opponent he wasn't aggressive enough to successfully finish the fight. There were no surprises as all judges awarded Carlton the fight 29-28. "It wasn't pretty, but I knew what I had to do to beat him," Carlton said. "I sort of lost my way in the third round, but I didn't think he was hitting me hard enough to finish me so I just coasted through it. "He's a great fighter, though. So this is a big win for me." Carlton (14-2, 6-2 GAMMA) goes 3-0 since his 2002 loss to the current champ Christopher Sharp, but will have to wait until the new year with Sharp set to defend against Gunnar Nilsson. McCall (22-9-1, 7-6 GAMMA) drops his second fight in a row. de Vries returns to form with highlight finish Maarten de Vries knew that his fight with Lawrence Herringbone was make-or-break if he wanted another shot at the light heavyweight championship. His response was something unexpected. In just nineteen seconds, de Vries ensured he would be in highlight packages for years to come with an exceptional knock out of the GAMMA Gladiator finalist. Choosing to engage first, Herringbone looked for an overhand left but managed to duck straight into a leaping kick from de Vries. Collected under the jaw, Herringbone dropped like a rock and any doubt he was KOed was extinguished as de Vries followed up with a punch to the grounded Herringbone. The referee pulled him off as a frenzied crowd watched on as de Vries ran around the ring in celebration. "That felt amazing. I don't know what I was thinking, but it worked," a worked up de Vries said after the fight. "The feeling … this crowd is unbelievable. This is such a big win for me." Herringbone took more than minute to return to a sitting position, and had to be helped to the back after one of the most devastating knock outs in GAMMA history. "I'm sorry for that last punch," de Vries said of the perhaps unnecessary follow up. "The emotion … the adrenaline, you know, it gets to you." After a GAMMA 50 loss to Lewis Cox, de Vries (14-4, 8-4 GAMMA) is back on the winners list and puts himself straight back in contention for the title. Herringbone (7-4, 1-2 GAMMA) undoes his good work against Dejan Srebotnik to drop his second fight inside the Cage. Aldarisio recovers to submit Semler Former welterweight champion Josh Aldarisio has survived an opening storm from Wilson Semler to submit the Brazilian striker inside the first round. Roundly written off, Semler and Aldarisio started with an intriguing stand up battle as Aldarisio looked the cleaner striker as he found a home for his quick right jab. But an attempted kick was countered by a huge right from Semler which left Aldarisio staggering backwards. The Brazilian followed up with an uppercut, but couldn't drop Aldarisio who looked in trouble. Backed up against the Cage, Semler continued to land some heavy blows before Aldarisio managed to force his way out of trouble as he dropped for a double leg takedown. On the ground Semler poses no threat, and from side control Aldarisio easily transitioned to an armbar to force a quick submission from Semler. "He hurt me a couple of times there, but this is what we train for, yo," Aldarisio said after the fight. "I felt good early, but he got me good so I knew I had to take him down." With three straight wins, Aldarisio (18-5, 9-5 GAMMA) is surely back into title contention but may be forced to wait with GAMMA Gladiator 2 coaches Nathan Chambers and Julio Regueiro set to meet later this year. Semler (13-6, 1-2 GAMMA) suffers his second loss inside the Cage. Scottie
GAMMA Matchmaker Blog: two-for-one review by Scott Davis on Oct 20, 2005 at 13:30 pm ET I thought I'd wait for both events to finish before posting this. A couple of very intriguing outings for the GAMMA brand, and a whole lot of headaches created with some impressive performances by good fighters. Starting with "GAMMA Global Fight Night 2": man, what a performance from David Allen. The former champion certainly is back judging by the ease with which he eased past a very capable wrestler in Gregg Grable. He wants a title shot, and in the coming weeks we may have an announcement concerning that... For Grable, the loss was disappointing but he will get his opportunity with a bit of hard work. In the co-main event, Nate MacReary showed exactly why he's one of my favourite fighters in the heavyweight division. He never comes into a fight in bad shape, and to notch up a win in that fashion against Bobby Pope means he's ready for another big opponent. Bobby's good run comes to an end, but there is no shortage of fighters lining up to fight the guy. He's money. Tremendous stuff from Rufus Stephens, too, but we still want him at 170. The guy is too good to be wasted against guys upwards of twenty pounds heavier than him. It was great to see him back in the winner's circle, but it was a setback for Rekdal. He's got some talent, but just needs to expand his repertoire. I copped a lot of stick for throwing Brody Howles in with Faas Smit, but he did not disappoint. He might have been on the receiving end of a defeat, but he showed tremendous heart against one of the top light heavyweights in the world. Not really what we wanted to see from Faas, but hopefully this sparks him into more impressive showings in the future. I always say it - but goddamn, come to our live shows! Three first round stoppages for those in attendance on the preliminary card and all of them awesome. Unfortunately, Azor Portela Nunes and Duane Weatherly's time in GAMMA has come to an end for now. Nunes has been a great asset to the lightweight division, and we hope to see him back in the future. At 3-0 inside the Cage, Darin Blood is ready to make the jump. Last weekend we also got a blockbuster card including one of the best KOs in MMA history! Headlining "GAMMA 55: Garner vs. Baines" of course was the return of Rob Baines, but he was stopped emphatically by Garner in that first round. I have to echo some other views - if Rob wants to stay at 185 lbs, he needs to seriously consider getting himself slimmer before making the weight cut. He looked drained, man. Garner was electric as usual and is by far the best middleweight in the world and probably the best fighter in the world. We've had high hopes for Josh Hope (sorry guys!), but make no mistake we did not give him an easy fight first up. Shane Gilchrist is a legit fighter and he showed amazing resilience to not tap against some sick armbars. With the Aussie behind him, Hope has the world at his feet and is where he belongs inside the Cage. We'd like to give him another chance quick, and what we hear is that he'd like to fight a top ranked guy soon. Maybe Faas Smit is that man? Jeff Carlton looked pretty good out there against McCall, but we're still not sure whether he's ready for another shot. There's heaps of great fighters in that division at the moment who are a win or two away, and we put Carlton in that group. Luckily, with Sharp meeting Nilsson this winter, another win for Carlton probably matches up quite nicely with either of their schedules. We'll be looking at someone like MacReary or even Sherwin Bond. Maarten de Vries. What can we say? It is a tough break for Herringbone because you can't really prepare for a kick like that, but de Vries showed again why these fans love him so much. Big hands and huge power in his feet. He's also in contention for a Hope fight in what we're sure would do some good business. Finally, Josh Aldarisio continues to quietly accumulate some big wins. Semler had him in trouble early, but he's so professional that he managed to come back very strongly. We'd like to put him with a better rounded fighter next to see where he stands. He stands close to a title shot, at the very least. Some good fights on the prelims - but I'd like to look at Pavel Papkou. The guy has fought seven times now inside the Cage and the fans [expletive] love him. It was great to see him pick up a win, but unfortunately it comes at the expense of Kalepo Sefo who departs with a record of 0-3. Some great action on GAMMA cards continues at the "GAMMA Gladiator 2 Finale" on Nov 5 before we round out the year at "GAMMA 56: Full Force" with two title fights! See you then! HansLanda11
I don't post on most dynasties but I am impressed with this one. Paatero
Definitely, this is fantastic, one of the best dynasties of all time . I'm checking it every morning to see if there's more, I should probably add it to my favorites or w/e . Loving the detail and the style, and you're clearly taking time with your match-making and putting on cards.
