thedr
http://i340.photobucket.com/albums/o356/djtag_209/FA.jpg Last August, video game developer Electronic Arts (EA) was looking to expand their business model and explored the option of partnering with (or purchasing) a major MMA company. Negotiations took place with the likes of Strikeforce and DREAM. Despite EA releasing the Strikeforce centric video game (EA Sports MMA), the two parties could not come to an agreement. A deal with DREAM could not be reached due to their financials being in such disarray. In March of 2011, Zuffa, LLC, the parent company of the UFC, purchased Strikeforce. EA CEO John Riccitiello held a press-conference in April of 2011 and announced that Electronic Arts was launching their very own MMA organization called Fighting Arts (FA). The company will be based out of the United States with the aspirations of running events around the world. Riccitiello said that former mixed martial artist Guy Mezger has been appointment Fighting Arts President and would oversee day to day operations. The first event is scheduled for late June/early July.

gamer15436
Looking good. Just a little note, that is Murilo 'Ninja' Rua, Shogun's older (lesser talented) brother. He currently fights at Middleweight, 185lbs. You have the description for Mauricio, and have him listed at LHW, but still 185lbs. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Murilo_Rua I like the concept tho, and I'll be looking forward to it. What is FA's current popularity?

Shogun's older (lesser talented) brother. I'm trying to run this as close to real world as possible, no access to fighters under real world exclusive contracts. Enjoy! The two shared an intense staredown after making weight, exchanging a few choice words before being separated by officials. Despite the ubiquitous concerns about his weight, Sylvia made it in just below the 265-pound limit, though he needed to disrobe entirely to do it. Travis Wiuff was close to missing weight, initially coming in too light before making the 206-pound minimum after subsequent attempts. Full results from the Fighting Arts: Inception weigh-ins: Gabriel Gonzaga (252) vs. Tim Sylvia (265) Paulo Filho (185) vs. Thales Leites (185) Murilo Rua (185) vs. Josh Burkman (185) Ricardo Arona (205) vs. Eric Schafer (205) Aleksander Emelianenko (252) vs. Paul Buentello (240) Dennis Kang (185) vs. Jake Rosholt (185) Marcio Cruz (232) vs. Pedro Rizzo (228) Ricco Rodriguez (225) vs. Travis Wiuff (206) Rory Markham (170) vs. Delson Heleno (170) After the weigh-ins, FA President Guy Mezger announced to Blurcat's Michael Hughes that tonight's Heavyweight matches would prove as qualifying fights for a single-night, championship elimination tournament, which would be held later this year. He also confirmed the company plans to move forward with an event next month in Japan.

In the main event, Gabriel Gonzaga (12-6) stopped Tim Sylvia (28-8) by knockout midway through the 2nd round. Gonzaga chose to standup and trade strikes with the former UFC Heavyweight Champion. After dodging a jab, Gonzaga countered with a huge fight sending Sylvia to the canvas at the 2:24 mark of the 2nd round. It was Gonzaga's first win after dropping his past two fights to Junior dos Santos and Brendan Schaub. Gonzaga said after the fight that he was pleased with his performance and he was excited to return to Fighting Arts and participate in the single-night elimination tournament. In the co-main event, Brazilian Thales Leites (20-4) beat fellow countryman Paulo Filho (21-4-1). Leites took little time in taking down Filho and his attacks were far too much for Fihlo to handle. Leites locked in a rear naked choke late in the 1st round to win his third straight match. After the fight, Filho told reporters that his poor performance was due to illness he'd been fighting since earlier in the week. Leites said he'd like to return to Fighting Arts and face either Murilo Rua or Jake Rosholt. Murilo Rua (21-12-1) came from behind to beat Josh Burkman (21-10) by TKO ending the fight early in the 3rd round. Rua started to get into some trouble when he looked to gas midway through the 2nd round. This gave Burkman the opportunity to score a bunch of takedowns and gain the upper hand in the match. But in the 3rd round, Rua stuffed a takedown attempt and revered it into his own. Rau quickly unleashed huge rights ending the fight. After close to a 2 years absence from the fight game, Ricardo Arona (20-5) made his triumph return to MMA dominating Eric Schafer (11-6-2). Arona controlled the fight both on the ground and striking, outclassing Schafer in every way possible. There was no surprise when the judges awarded Arona the unanimous decision. Arona took a wait and see approach when asked by reporters after the fight about his future plans. Alexander Emelianenko (18-4) looked impressive defeating Paul Buentello (29-14) by technical knockout booking a place in the Fighting Arts Heavyweight Tournament. The two fighters decided to stand and trade punches early. Late in the first round, Emelianenko landed a huge slam sending the crowd into a frenzy. Emelianenko used the momentum early in the 2nd round taking Buentello down quickly and gaining side control. Emelianenko rained down strikes forcing the fight to be stopped. Jake Rosholt (12-4) is now undefeated in 6 fights after defeating veteran Dennis Kang (34-13-2) by unanimous decision. Rosholt controlled the match scoring numerous takedowns and frustrating Kang, who could not put any effective offense together. Rosholt told reporters he'd love a shot at Thales Leites or PRIDE legend Murilo Rua at a future show. Pedro Rizzo (20-9) was just too much for Marcio Cruz (7-3) to handle, scoring a 2nd round TKO. Rizzo took the fight to the ground early, but it was Cruz who attacked with submission attempts from the guard. In the 2nd round, Rizzo landed a series of big punches and then pounced on Cruz continuing the barrage forcing the referee to the stop the fight. Rizzo commented after the fight that he was excited to gain a spot in the Heavyweight Tournament. Travis Wiuff (65-14) outboxed Ricco Rodriguez (46-12) winning by unanimous decision in a bit of a lackluster fight. The two fighters were content to stand and strike for the duration of the match. Rodriguez was way off his game landing 0 of 22 strikes, a horrible performance to say the least. Rodriguez explained to reporters that he suffered an injury during his training camp and had not fully recovered. Delson Heleno (22-5) controlled all three rounds en-route to his 9th consecutive win taking out Rory Markham (16-7) by unanimous decision. Heleno dominated the fight, taking down Markham easily and thwarting any attack Markham tried to mount. Heleno said after the fight he'd love to return to Fighting Arts and hopes they can find a top Welterweight for him to face. At the post-event press conference, FA President Guy Mezger said he was very pleased with how the show turned out and thanked all the fighters and sponsors for their support. Mezger confirmed that tonight's four Heavyweight match winners have secured a spot in a single-night elimination tournament to crown the FA Heavyweight Champion. Mezger also announced that the next Fighting Arts show would take place Saturday July 23rd in Tokyo Japan. The event would be a co-production with a Japanese group headed by the legendary Antonio Inoki. More details will be announced in the coming days! <table border=0 width="75%"><tbody><tr><td td border="0" style="border:1px #000000 solid" bgcolor=#000000><img src="http://i54.tinypic.com/29xth0.png">FIGHTING ARTS INCEPTION Saturday June 25th, 2011 Oracle Arena, Oakland California Attendance: 9,505[/size</td></tr></tbody></table> <table border="0" style="border:0px #000000 solid"><tr><td border="0" style="border:0px #000000 solid"><img src="http://www.freeimagehosting.net/uploads/892afc40ef.jpg" height=150 width=150></td><td border="0" style="border:0px #000000 solid"><img src="http://rockiespickup.com/vs_icon.jpg"></td><td td border="0" style="border:0px #000000 solid"><img src="http://www.freeimagehosting.net/uploads/21bb1edea5.jpg" width=150 height=150></td></tr><tr><td td border="0" style="border:1px #000000 solid" bgcolor=#000000>Gabriel Gonzaga Record: 11-6 Height: 6'2 Weight: 254lbs Country: Brazil Style: BJJ/Muay Thai </td><td td border="0" style="border:1px #000000 solid" bgcolor=#000000>.................................................. thedr
how are you able to sign him? The way I have the game setup is that there are no other companies, so technically all fighters are available. I'm simulating events as if FA was a real company. So if the UFC cuts a fighter, I could sign them. If I have a fighter who in real life signs with the UFC, once his FA contract is up I will release him. I thought I'd try something a little different...

Antonio Inoki addressed the press saying that nine years ago, the U.F.O (Universal Fighting-Arts Organization) concept became a reality when "UFO - Legend" took place at the Tokyo Dome with nearly 30,000 fans in attendance. He added, "with the current dismal state of MMA in Japan, the sport needs to be revitalized and I plan to do just that by re-activating the U.F.O". He went on to say that he was extremely pleased to be working with Mezger and the Fighting Arts team and hopes that their support will help restore MMA in Japan to it's former glory.
