DMF's C-Verse Multiplayer Draft/Lottery

Recommended Posts

Looking for 2-3 people to start a new CVerse multiplayer game.

Rules-

All standard rule boxes are ticked by default, however, if 3/4 or 2/3 of the players want to switch an option, we can.

All players will start a default US sized cult company.

All companies in the US that are larger than cult will be deleted from the database at the start.

Start date is June 2010.

How the draft and lottery work-

This part will only be done after you pick your promotion and product.

Each player will take turns drafting 40 characters in the game that are eligible workers in the US, and not under written contracts elsewhere. Each player gets 2 exceptions to this rule that they may use, meaning they may either draft somebody on a written contract, draft somebody that doesn't work in the US, or both. (Even on a case where it is both, it still counts as only breaking the exception once.

After each player has drafted 40 people, a random lottery will be held to determine your roster.

The first 5 workers drafted to you will be set at written contracts for 18 months at the cost of 5,000 per month.

Workers 6-10 will be set at written contracts (12 months) for 2,500 per month.

Each company will start with a TV show. Day of TV show will be randomly selected, meaning we may have some head to head shows or we may not.

Each company will start at war with each other.

If you're interested or have any more questions feel free to ask.

I'd play if use Dropbox rather than email to distribute the files. It'll be easier that way, trust me.

If you're interested in checking it out let me know and I'll send you a referral link to it (so I can get more space!). Otherwise just go try it, I'm sure you'll be converted.

Wish more people used it for things like this, it'd revolutionise multiplayer TEW games.

Dropbox is very useful for sending files back and forth. I've been using it for one of my other multiplayer games lately and it's been very helpful. :)

A couple of things I meant to clear up earlier but didn't have time to do before I headed to work.

1. How exactly does the drafting work? Do we all just send in lists of workers until 160 people have been chosen or is it going to be more like the usual TEW drafts we have on here?

2. Just wanting to check now, but since TCW and SWF are being deleted (I'd suggest just setting their debut date to massively in the future rather than actually deleting them otherwise the history would disappear), are all of their workers available for drafting?

3. After the random lottery (which is the main reason I'm playing cos that sounds awesome :D) will there be the chance to do some trades? I figure whoever ends up with The Big Problem will want to give him to me. :p That, and everyone will probably need some time to sort their rosters anyways so that seems like the time we could do trades too if that was the case. :)

I think I already know the answers to all those questions, just want to be sure. If everyone uses Dropbox that would be a helpful way to pass the files across cos then we could include a file there that says whose turn it is and everything. Keeping track of turns is always the hardest part of big multiplayer games so any way to help keep things organised is a big plus. :)

I've always thought it would be damn useful for a MP game, but have never had the chance to play one! So fingers crossed :)

I'm all for dropbox, despite the fact that I've never used it if it helps move things along faster.

Also, I would like to start this as soon as possible, so i'd like to start the game with Derek B, Rathen4, KingofKings. As for Avatars, I was thinking maybe we should just clone The Grand Avatar and rename him? And now on to Derek's questions-

1.Ideally, it'd be more like just a standard draft. I understand where a bunch of list might be helpful, but I have a feeling we wouldn't each hit 40 unique workers this way. I thought about having everyone send in a list, and then drafting out the rest of the spots but I realized that people will probably pick the same workers, which means who do I credit that drafted spot to and whatnot?

2.Sounds like a smart move to push their debut date just way back.

3.Yes! I like the idea of the lottery and trying to move things around. To me thats part of the fun of it, you're going to set a product and try to draft a set of guys who could fit where someone else is going to possibly have a different product and then everything is going to get shuffled and you're going to have to try and make your product fit by the way the cards fall in your lap. Yes though, feel free to trade.

This being said, I'll start with my company and product:

I've never tried a product like this but I'm gonna experiment and see what happens. I just autoset the max/mins of the product but if you felt it would be reasonable to set them all to none or key, that would be handy. With a product like this I almost feel like I'm doomed to fail, especially since we're at cult and that might hurt me with a product like this. :)

EDIT: I'll probably end up tweaking this a fair bit once we start. Also I'm happy being a clone of the Grand Avatar, that's who I usually play as anyways. :)

Also, in order to speed up the draft perhaps we could pick in blocks rather than going through 40 rounds of drafting. Seems if we picked about 5 each for most of the way through we could fly through that part quite quickly and then just go more slowly on the last 5 or 10 picks to make sure we've got everyone. Since we're all going into a lottery anyways the ordering of the picks isn't as important as it normally would be, with the only exception perhaps being where we end up using our special picks. Personally, I intend to use mine to ruin NOBTPW who I truly hate with a passion. :)

Bringing a mixture of flashy storylines and characters, and solid bone-shaking wrestling, American Wrestling Evolved is very much looking ahead to the draft - and have made it clear that they want their first pick to be none other than Wolf Hawkins.

Hey Derek, what do you want your avatar to be named as?

Everyone else, please give me an avatar name also.

"Derek B" will do nicely, though I'm probably gonna change that in game so he doesn't get in the way of the rest of my roster once I start up the game. Nothing worse than accidentally booking The Grand Avatar in a segment. :p

Any word on how the draft will be done? Is it going to be 40 rounds or are we gonna do bunches of workers to speed things up? I'm also gonna shoot KingOfKings a PM to remind him about this since it's been a couple of days since he's checked in here and I'm excited to see what kind of roster I end up with. :)

I liked your idea of drafting 5 at a time...that means we'll only need 8 rounds! Speed!

Also, we're basically waiting on KingOfKings and then I can get a random draft order set and we can get started. If KingOfKings can't go, then Apupunchau will go instead.

I think for the first few rounds it'll be important to pick one by one (otherwise whoever gets pick #1 overall will take Cornell, Hawkins, McFly, and two of the Stones, or something daft).

But I'm all up for drafting in 5s the last 20 or so members.

I think you missed the point. We are basically drafting a combined total of 160 workers who are then randomly shuffled around all our promotions. The order of them being drafted is important at all, only that we draft the workers, which is why 5 at a time for a few rounds will make things quicker cos as you say... we're probably all gonna draft guys like Cornell, Hawkins, McFly and the Stones, so we might as well get on with it to save time. :)

Yes, this is what is going to be the trick of it all. Unlike pretty much every other draft, this one is followed by a lottery drawing to make up your roster. You pick who you want, but you hope fate deals them to you instead of everyone else. This should force you to have to push new feuds, and push new workers even.

Which nails exactly why I'm looking forward to this so much. :) I've played the major promotions a lot (currently have a game with Apupunchao going as TCW vs his SWF) and I like playing in the US. I've created my own promotion a few times but this should provide an interesting roster of workers and a new environment to play in... can't wait to see who I end up with in the lottery and who I can trade to get too. :)

I'm just trying to work out who I'm likely to pick to add to the pool. Will definitely be a fun one to see who is picked and to see which big names (if any) get shunned by us all.

I'd also suggest alphabetising the picks when we get that far and just keeping track of how many picks each person has made. Should make it easier to keep track of those who have been picked already for later in the draft when we're all struggling to work out who we might want. :)

Don't worry. I was already planning on something like that for a list to help keep it easy.

Well is everyone ready? You still in Rathen? If Rathen is still in and gives the okay, everyone can start. As a random roll picked, this is the draft order.

Rathen

KingOfKings

DaMegaFish

Derek

Also, for those of us who have lives, don't worry, just try to be somewhat reasonable with the time. As for example I have to leave and won't be back until late tonight.
