In 1985, Vince McMahon revolutionized the sport of professional wrestling with WrestleMania, the first wrestling event broadcast live throughout the United States on closed-circuit television. Eight months later, the World Wrestling Federation further cemented itself as the preeminent wrestling promotion in the country by holding its inaugural pay-per-view event known as The Wrestling Classic.

 

Over the next few years, the WWF would compete with the National Wrestling Alliance and Jim Crockett Promotions, a rival organization based in Atlanta, Georgia. While the NWA had major events such as Starrcade and The Great American Bash, the WWF had WrestleMania, the Royal Rumble, Summerslam, and the Survivor Series. The WWF was increasing revenue and popularity by the month, while the NWA struggled to keep up.

 

On November 21, 1988, Jim Crockett sold his company to billionaire media mogul Ted Turner. The next few years were incredibly successful for WCW, and they eventually split from the NWA in 1993. With seemingly unlimited resources, WCW spent the next two years signing the biggest superstars the WWF had, including Ric Flair, Randy Savage, Lex Luger, and even the man who helped take the WWF into mainstream media, Hulk Hogan.

 

With WCW stealing all of the WWF’s superstars, they were left scrambling to produce new main eventers. The reins were handed off to Bret Hart and Kevin Nash, who led the promotion through two of the worst economic years in its history. WCW’s Executive Vice President Eric Bischoff felt that this was the best time to attack the World Wrestling Federation, and asked Ted Turner for a slot on prime time opposite WWF’s flagship program, WWF Monday Night Raw. Turner agreed, and WCW Monday Nitro was launched on September 4, 1995, on TNT. For the first time in WCW history, the promotion turned a profit in 1995, and the Monday Night Wars had begun.

The one thing that I did was remove all starting injuries. While I like to keep it realistic, I feel that every promotion should be at full strength.

My user character will be a converted Vince Russo, who I have no plans of using in any kind of on-screen role. He is simply my user character and nothing else. His user talents are even at 5 for each category.

 

My user preferences can be found here. The only one that needs to be mentioned is that I have turned Owner Goals off. The reason for this is because I know where I want to go with this, and I want complete control. However, I want to keep it as accurate and life-like as possible, hence keeping Vince McMahon as the owner of the company.

 

I really hope everyone likes this. This is my first attempt at a TEW diary game, so it might take a little while to "find a groove", but I will. Please, bear with me.

The older, but still useful, Rock N' Roll Express looked like a possible choice.....until I saw that the WWF and USWA have a working agreement. But not sure if you'd want to bring in a blast from the past anyways.

 

Of course, there's plenty of guys that are free agents that you could pair up, or you could give ECW a look.

The Bushwhackers are "Occasional Wrestlers" which, in all honesty, means they'll get one squash match on a B-show every 2-3 months. They won't be pushed at all.

 

As for Horowitz and Brooklyn Brawler: that's interesting haha. I certainly hadn't thought about teaming them together, at least on a regular basis. However, "pushing them to the moon" is certainly out of the question. Sorry.

TAMPA – WWF owner Vince McMahon held a press conference in Tampa, Florida this afternoon as he announced the formation of Florida Championship Wrestling (FCW). McMahon said that FCW will serve as the only official developmental territory for the World Wrestling Federation.

 

“We are proud to announce the creation of Florida Championship Wrestling, a new upstart promotion which we hope will both build toward the future and produce new WWF superstars, but will also satisfy the South Eastern fans who crave entertainment from a promotion based in their area.”

 

There is currently no word on who will be in charge of the day-to-day operations of FCW.

STAMFORD – The World Wrestling Federation and the USA Network announced today that the WWF's flagship program Monday Night Raw will be

expanded to 90 minutes, giving an extra half-hour of action-packed entertainment to viewers. The show will now air from 8:00 PM ET to 9:30 PM ET.

TAMPA – It is being reported that Linda McMahon has assumed control of Florida Championship Wrestling, the developmental territory of the World Wrestling Federation.

She is the wife of WWF owner Vince McMahon. It is also rumored that she will be hiring Ed Ferrara as head booker of FCW.

Ferrara previously worked as a writer for such television programs as Honey, I Shrunk the Kids: The TV Show and Weird Science.

 

We reached out to the McMahons for comment, however our phone calls were left unreturned.

STAMFORD – The World Wrestling Federation has come to terms with eight wrestlers, all of whom will be added to the tag team division in the coming weeks.

These include former WWF wrestlers Jacques Roueau and Carl Ouelette, who are expected to reprise their roles as The Quebecers, as well as newcomers Glen Ruth and Chaz Warrington.

The other four were not disclosed, however one team is said to be comprised of "world-renowned superstars."

 

It had previously been reported that the front office, most notably head writer Vince Russo, was disgusted by the lack of tag teams currently on the WWF roster.
