Another point I wanted to make is that I've seen a lot of comments on "parity issues" - ie, a mid-range team beating an udefeated top tier team. Now, these are still going to happen as upsets are a big part of college football (just ask UCLA this season ;) ). However, the injury issue of too many top QBs and RBs have really made this parity issue more of a factor than I would have liked. I have found that since I have made injuries more realistic in my testing that the number of major upsets have decreased. When you combined the injury issue with the underclassmen leaving early bug(sophs), as well as the aggressive transfers by some players - you ended up with a situation ripe for major upsets. Before the injury and underclassman fix, I had a Southern Cal team lose a 5-star QB for the season, have a 4-star (RS soph) leave for the pros the year before, a 5-star RB injured for half the season and a 3.5/5 star RB transfer away the year before. This left a very green QB/RB combo (both were around 2.5-3 star actual) heading up Southern Cal. As some of you may know, young players in BBCF play very inconsistent. A 2.5/5.0 star QB could look like a 4-star one game and a 2-star the next. In this case, Southern Cal ended up losing to a very average Washington State team as the QB looked awful and the team had a couple other key injuries. I haven't seen this type of thing occur tonight (after I added the injury fix) and expect some of the other fixes will add even more stability in certain areas.
This patch will not include the in game editor then ???

This is going to be a patch aimed at fixing most of the major issues.
This is a patch to hit some of the main gameplay issues. There will still be an update 1.1 that will include things like the player editor and playoff brackets. But, I wanted to get something out a little quicker to deal with some of the gameplay issues.

Wow! I had decided not to buy the game and was taking one last look at the boards before deleting the link when I saw this thread. I am now back to planning to buy the game. What impressed me is that you are actually listening to customer complaints. The game will be a lot better with these changes. Of course I would like to see the editor in this patch but I understand completely the reasoning for doing the other things first.

Roger, You'll learn that this thread is par for the course for GreyDog. This has been the trend as long as I've known Arlie and Gary, and I don't expect that to change. You're making a wise choice by not deleting the link. I'm actually surprised that this is news to you, in that nobody informed you of how quick/responsive these guys are to patches/bugs/complaints. -John

I got a bit frustrated by the initial responses to some of these issues. At first they either tried to blame the user or they denied that there was a problem. At one point Arlie was saying that; A. the game is NOT supposed to be an accurate sim of the NCAA so don’t get upset if weird things happen in recruiting, and B. The game IS supposed to be an accurate sim of the NCAA so there should be more injuries than other sim games we may have played in the past. At any rate, the did the right thing so I am happy now.

Well, this may be under late game logic but I thought I'd mention it. There was 1:08 left in the game and the other team still had 3 timeouts. Because I had fumbled it on the previous drive, I was just going to kneel it three times and punt, but the computer didn't call time outs after I kneeled the ball. Thanks.

Multiplayer bug Arlie, I know this is a patch for serious issues only. Could you please fix the issue with not being able to assign or change coach names in a muliplayer league. I started a muliplayer league and named myself as coach. I then made my buddy the coach of Kent St. I put his name and email address in but it failed to change the head coach name. I then attempted to change my name and it didnt work either. I know this sounds like a small issue, but to me it is major, could this please be added to your first patch. Matt
Will this patch be backward-compatible with saved games, or will it require starting new ones?
I'd like to know this as well, before I go any further on my current leauge. Any answers to this... Also will the major updates as they happen, apply to already in progress saved leauges????

Also, if you have a game where you switch teams and are stuck, this patch will fix the game upon loading and you should be able to play.

Arlie, You updated the patch list, but failed to comment on the bug I report. In mulitplayer games you are unable to change coach names. and the name you give each coach on the league setting screen does not match the name on the team info screen or anywhere else in the game. Therfore in a multiplayer game each owner has a fictional name. If this cant be fixed yet, can we at least get a response about it please. Matt
