Player Names Files

Hellooo...no one's answered Punk's question, and I have the same question. And to it, I would add: If I alter the names file (which currently is blank, except for the "Rahn" sample), do the names I add integrate with the's game's current names...or do I have to construct a complete file of many names, which the game will then access instead of its current names pool. Just not sure how this works. Thanks for the help.

Yes, if you add names to the file according to the format: John,1 ... they will be integrated with the game's built-in name set, so no getting rid of R-Kal and Fuamatu-Ma'afala. I used the 1990 US Census names lists, available here: http://www.census.gov/genealogy/names/names_files.html to make comprehensive name lists. It appears that setting name frequency to values higher than 100 will cause those names to become too dominant, so I try to keep frequencies below 50. Also, adding lots of names to the lastname file will slow down processing time at start-up and whenever the game generates recruits. There's a limit to the number of names you can add... I have successfully used a lastname file with 25,000 names in it.
