IWS - Night of Champions I (Fan Access Hype)

Recommended Posts

The night is upon us, as the 1st PPV of the International Wrestling Syndicate will take place this Sunday (more on that later). All NINE title matches are locked for the event, and it's shaping up to be an important night as this event will crown the first champions of the new season.

IWS Information:

The IWS is an eight month seasonal Pro Wrestling promotion. It is a world-wide brand and regularly does shows around the globe. It is the pinnacle of Professional Wrestling, as only the top performers can qualify for the seasons. As such, the wrestlers are only signed on Tour/Seasonal-based contracts that are only good for that season (which allows for younger, up-and-coming performers to step into the main stage).

The eight months are split into two the Winter and Summer seasons. The Winter season is the longest season, it stretches from the beginning of the IWS season, December, all the way out to April. We take a month off in May, and come back for the Summer season, which only stretches from June to August.

Both Seasons have a Main PPV, the Winter season ends with IWS Ground Zero and the Summer season ends with IWS Showdown. They are part of the IWS' Big Three PPV's, along with IWS Battlezone.

Here are the current list of events per season:

IWS Winter Season

December - Night of Champions I

January - Battlezone

February - Night of Champions II

March - War Games

April - Ground Zero

IWS Summer Season

June - Ultimate Survival

July - Night of Champions III

August - Showdown

The IWS has a League-based scoring system. The scoring system is:

Win = 2 Points

Loss = 0 Points

Draw = 1 Point

With the top wrestlers of each championship league bracket qualifying for the championship matches for the PPV cards. The only difference is the Battleground match, a 40 men over the top match, with the winner getting an automatic title shot at any title in Ground Zero.

RUMOR MILL

There are some interesting rumors rolling around the internet, here are a couple "news" tidbits:

- PWI reported that one Billy Graham, a backstage agent, reportedly had gotten into a couple of skirmishes backstage. The head of the IWS Jack Bauer has not commented about it. But, rumors backstage has mentioned that him and HHH have actually came to blows backstage. Again, these are just rumors, nothing has been confirmed. It's also rumored that Graham almost got into another fight with different wrestler backstage. Rumor has it that the leadership is very upset with Graham and that he might be shown the door soon if he messes up again.

- Speaking of HHH, rumor mill also has it that HHH has found his way into the "dog-house" due to his scuffle with Graham. Again, this is nothing more than rumors, but it might explain why he is at the bottom of the International Title rankings. It is also noted that some of the talent backstage have mentioned some passing comments about how aggravated HHH seems to be about his current handling. Jack Bauer, when approached again did not comment on this.

IWS Night of Champions I NEWS

- The IWS Night of Champions I will be in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. There is expected to be close to 65,000 people to show up for the show. The show will take place in Toronto's Rodgers Stadium (also known as The SkyDome) and is expected to be a very raucous crowd for the show.

- The fans seems to be genuinely psyched for the show, most seem to be excited for the 3rd of the Main Events, Rock vs Cornell. Although Rock just barely squeaked into the Universal Title Match, with his win over Skull DeBones, last Friday, both competitors have been at each others throats due to Cornell's boisterous comments leading into this event.

- The opening match, the World Tag Team Title match, has been changed from just a Fatal 4-Way to an Ultimate Survival Match. The change was made by the current President of the IWS, Jack Bauer, Wednesday. The rules of the Ultimate Survival Match are that there will be No Disqualifications, No Count-outs, Tornado Rules are in effect, two teams will start the match, every 2-minutes, another team enters until all four teams are in. Then a 20 minute timer will count down, the team with the most pin-falls, or submissions, at the end of the match will be declared the new champions. All four teams have been at each other since the beginning of the season, and it looks to be a great opening match for the show.

- There are a couple of surprise matches on the card. As the; International, National, Global Tag Team, Television, and Universal Tag Team Championship matches all were decided on the night of the shows. Most credit this to the fact that some story lines caused certain wrestlers from not winning their matches. But the wrestlers who made it and won their matches on those nights aren't talking like they were lucky, most of them see this as an opportunity, and are enthused at the shot to win the title on Sunday.

- Ricky Dale Johnson and Tommy Cornell are on a winning streaks coming into the event. It seems that RDJ is the favorite to win his match. The fans are split 50/50 on Cornell's match, as they feel that The Rock has an excellent shot at beating Cornell.

- The IWS Night of Champions I Fan Access was a great success. Most fans came away from the event feeling even more excited for the PPV. There was a public Press Conference that most of the fans loved as well:

- The Rock and Cornell almost got into a fight that had to have them pulled apart by officials when The Rock went off on a rant on Cornell. Both men left the conference and did not return.

- Hulk Hogan feels that he has a very good shot at winning his match, which Jack shot down by reminding Hogan of the current Win-Loss record, and Savage told both of them that they have to watch out cause Macho Madness will be in full effect for their match.

- Steve Austin, Christian Faith, Andre the Giant, and Bill Goldberg were all present in the conference. The Austin/Faith feud continued as they were shooting barbs back and fourth. Meanwhile, Goldberg said that all of them are next, but Andre will be first. Andre took offense and told Goldberg that he will destroy Goldberg on Sunday.

- There were some of Hollywood's elite at the Access, as well as some live performances by some of the local bands. Wolf Parade, the honorary band for Night of Champions I, were signing autographs and mentioned that they are very excited to play in front of their hometown crowd come Sunday.

- Gorilla Monsoon, Jim Ross, and Bobby Heenan, were all in one booth, all of them talked greatly of the people of Canada and the hospitality. They seem to be ready to announce the show tomorrow night and ready to begin the year, and Winter Season, tomorrow night.

In conclusion, everyone of the competitors are ready for the event and are also ready to tear the roof off of Rodgers Stadium come Sunday!

To reiterate, here is the current card for IWS Night of Champions I, feel free to place your bets! See you next week for the results!
